Humpday Happenings...
Here we are again, back in the middle of another week.
And YES, it is colder outside this morning...and YES, it will be getting colder still.
Our Hoosierland weather will see us with mostly cloudy skies today with a high in (only) the upper 30s, so what you have outdoors now is gonna be pretty close to that mark.
We might even have some snow flurries in the immediate future...damn global warming...lol.
And we'll be looking at that among some other things in just a bit.
So, warm up some hot cocoa, tea or coffee, ease back and let's see what's been going on...
*** First out of the cooler is our WHO SAID THAT? quote of the week:
"No person was ever honored for what he received. Honor has been the reward for what he gave."
I thought this would a good choice, seeing as we've just come off of a two day commemoration of both the USMC birthday (Monday) and Veterans Day, which was yesterday.
I think you may be surprised who said this, and no, it was not a military leader.
The answer will be at the top of tomorrow's post.
Meanwhile, back in our nation's capital...
*** It's also time once again for "What the hell happens today, Bob?"
November 12 -
Today has only ONE item attached to it, and that's NATIONAL CHICKEN SOUP FOR THE SOUL DAY.
Now, according to the creators of the books by the same name, this was created as a celebration..."of who you are, where you've been, where you're going, and who you will be thankful to when you get there."
(I don't make this stuff up)
Guess we could label this as a day of some sort of personal affirmation?
Moving on...
*** And we could not forget to post all the SHOTS FIRED calls over the last week, right?

===================
Now, you can see that the week started out SLOW, but since it was "welfare weekend", you can also see that "business" has picked up markedly, and as usual, most of the activity was located in the SOUTH side of town.
I didn't include other possibly related events such as fights, party armed, armed robbery, or cuttings/stabbing, of which we had numerous calls regarding each, again, with the majority of the SOUTH side...good to see crime going DOWN, isn't it?
*** And speaking of "crime", Obummer is once again pushing his  "climate change" agenda...which will cause MORE job losses in America, less coal production (however CLEAN it might be compared to other nations that are allowed to belch out greenhouse gases many times over what ONE of our plants produces).
Here's a link to this story:
http://www.journalgazette.net/article/20141112/API/311129902
O: Now THIS is how America should look...
China even made their skies clearer for this APEC summit by banning traffic...
I love a good communist regime.
If the world is warming up THAT damn much, then WHY is the arctic ice at a record THICKNESS?
And WHY are the polar bears GROWING in number?
Thought they were supposed to all drown or starve.
Oh, God...Enough with the warming thing already...OY!
With our Fundamental Changer-in-Chief over sucking up (read kissing a$$) to the CHI-COMS and setting forth even MORE stringent regulations for US, it makes perfect sense that the Chinese are laughing behind his back at what was called an INSIPID leadership of America as well as a BANALITY of his presidency.
Hey, maybe China watches FOX NEWS and gets THE TRUTH too? Who knew?
Gotta LOVE that commie red
Here's one story that tells the tale somewhat.
http://www.journalgazette.net/article/20141112/NEWS15/141119842/0/SEARCH
At least the Chinese aren't adverse to hiding THEIR disdain of our leader...unlike the lemmings HERE who will follow this guy off the nearest cliff whenever we speaks.
Meanwhile, China launches cyber attacks on the USA while our president shmoozes with them...
Don'cha just LOVE runaway narcissism?
*** I wanted to post this yesterday, but I didn't, so here 'ya go...
I recently made an unexpected "find" at a local Walgreens the other week.
And, since I still retain some "childlike" qualities, you know I like cool toys.
Well, I happened to come across a DOCTOR WHO action figure...and of the 10th doctor to boot.
I had no idea these were even out, let alone to be found in a damn DRUG STORE!!
(those places were the realm and Holy Grail of silver-age comics from a bygone era)
Major toy retailers don't even have these, and if they do, they're charging a helluva lot MORE than the prices at Walgreens, which was $9.99 - bit of an ouch, but not as bad as paying $14 (PLUS shipping)  online or at a toy store, if they're even available there.
This is a SERIES 7 figure (wave 3)...so why didn't I hear about the first SIX? Talk about trying to play "catch-up".
For a 3.75 inch figure, it's not bad at all.
Well rendered, and nicely articulated...would go well alongside the AVENGERS figures of the same scale (approx 1:18).
The "sonic screwdriver" accessory that comes with the figure could be EASILY lost, swallowed by a child or family pet, or sucked up by the nearest vacuum cleaner.
(break out some super glue)
Be nice to have more of these around and at the prices at Walgreens.
*** Last back to the skating rink...every year, the coming of the CHRISTMAS (there, I said it, so STFU you atheists...lol) season gets earlier and earlier, and while I do love the sounds, sights, and smells of this holiday, I really DON'T need to be reminded SO bloody early in the rolling year.
Shouldn't everything have it's place and time in the world (including holidays)?
I feel for those employees that have to put on a Christmas face in late OCTOBER...that's ridiculous.
Hell, we at the "Fortress" don't even put up Christmas decorations until AFTER Pearl Harbor Day (just seems like a good time), and we take them down RIGHT AFTER Epiphany (6 January)..again, seems like the right time.
But others have NO concept of the linear passage of chronology.
I guarantee you will see a LOT of Christmas decorations up within the week (the city is already working on theirs), and while most will be taken down in timely fashion, a few morons will STILL have them up past St. Patty's Day...and that's a sure thing, trust me.
We have idiots in OUR part of the ghettohood that STILL have HALLOWEEN decorations on their (government-sponsored) doors...!
Aren't we already having our attention diverted ENOUGH with all the crap this administration is tossing at us out of D.C.?
Do we really need more diversions? I think not.
We've way too many as it is, and I for one, will NOT add to the mix.
I refuse to bend or knuckle under to any marketing pressure, or political urging.
I think THAT is in much better keeping with the holiday season...to be a free thinker, and not a brain-dead follower without reason or purpose.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

I'm not so sure the Chinese are laughing behind Obummer's back. I think they're laughing right in his face. And he's still clueless.

John D.:
I do believe you are correct, sir.

After all, "da prez" IS way too busy telling himself how great he is to even hear the laughter.
Makes sense.

Thanks for dropping by to comment.

Roll safe out there.

Between Obama and his gum-chewing, Putin trying to be a gentleman and thus offending all of east Asia, and the Japanese guy whose photo-op looked like he was shaking hands with Poop-Man, I think the Chinese got a lot of moments to amuse themselves with.

Oh, you have NO idea how much their laughing up their sleeves these days.
And to think they get a pollution "pass" until 2030, while WE have to endure a "war on coal", cut on OUR CO2 emissions (which will piss off all the plant life here, and more money wasted on companies and
"ideas" that will not pan the hell out.
It's enough to make your brain explode.

Thanks for stopping by today to comment.

Stay safe up there, brother.

Bob G:

I have been negligent with my blog reading of late and you had a blurb recently about shaving.

Well, Sir, my favorite razor blades have been discontinued by the manufacturer.

I have been shaving with a Gillette Trac II razor for about 60 years and the Gillette, Schick, Personna and Wilkinson blade cartridges have become less sharp. Then, about ten years ago, I discovered Merkur blades manufactured in Solingen, Germany by craftsmen. Now the blades are no longer manufactured because us old folks are dying off and the metal craftsmen go down with them.

So I have been scrounging around shaving supply websites and have managed to get 45 blades - about a 90 month supply of the best shaving I have ever experienced.

So my apologies for not staying up with reading your blog - provided, of course, that I get proper sympathy for my catastrophe.

I too have used the TRAC II for DECADES, and it's been getting harder to find ANY replacements for the cartridges.
I also have an ATRA and a few other double & triple blade handles (with no cartridges that fit).
That pisses me off to no small end, as (to me) the FEWER blades, the better the shave and the longer the blades past.
I won't even get into battery-powered shavers, either.

I know where you're coming from.
Hell, at this point, I might have to go BACK to the old SINGLE bladed double-edge safety razor.
Disposables are just not worth the hassle or cost...they don't last long at all.

Thanks for stopping by and don't worry about not posting.

Stay safe (and shave close) out there.
