Rolling Toward The Weekend...
If you thought we were done with seeing snow...you might want to reconsider that thought.
Rumor has it we might see some soon enough, but you'll have to look fast, because it won't last long with more seasonal temps out there.
Today's Hoosierland weather will have us seeing some chilly temps to start of with, and then a warm up into the upper 40s once again.
Increasing cloudiness throughout the day will portend some inclement conditions later into tonight.
So, let's put that on the back burner for the time being and get ourselves a nice hot cup of coffee, tea or cocoa, as we take a look at some other things going on in places elsewhere.
*** First off the griddle is the answer to yesterday's WHO SAID THAT? quote:
"Associate with men of good quality if you esteem your own reputation; for it is better to be alone than in bad company."
This is attributed to one of our buddies here, the Father of our nation - GEORGE WASHINGTON (22 Feb 1732 - 11 Feb 1797  )
And once again, here is his WIKI:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Washington
Here is another good website that is all about Mount Vernon (and George):
http://www.mountvernon.org/george-washington/?gclid=CLnr9PiktMQCFZWCaQodEgwAhA
Kinda like a "tour" of his home, virtually-speaking.
You will also find links to the Washington Library there, as well as various collection and a digital encyclopedia.
You can even plan a trip there if you so desire.
*** Next up is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
March 19 -
---Today has only one item...it's POULTRY DAY.
What the cluck???
And I suppose that begs the eternal question: "Which came first - the chicken OR the egg"?
We may never know.
*** Next up, this whole stupid-ass Starbucks "race together" thing...whatta a crock of cappuccino.
Here's one of (too) many articles on this:
http://www.journalgazette.net/business/Starbucks-blends-race--coffee-5622053
Make your own coffee - save $8!
This was in today's business section of the J-G, and I can't see this as a social "cause" for more than a few reasons.
There is a huge double-standard when it comes to many racial issues today, and that serves to keep people APART.
Then, there are the race-baiters, whose only goal is to line their pockets with money WHILE fostering racism.
And, there is this whole encouragement to talk about race relations...I thought we WERE ALREADY DOING THAT...and not getting far in the process.
The low-information crowd must be loving this.
Kevin Leininger, of the News-Sentinel, even has a column about this, and it's worth a read. here's that link:
http://www.news-sentinel.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20150319/NEWS/150319611/1041/LEININGER
Dennis Miller (on O'Reilly last night) said that "you can't order a BLACK coffee anymore...it's now called UNCREAMED"...lol.
Got that right!
"And forget about ordering an ICED coffee if an illegal alien is nearby. They'll hear the word ICE and take the hell off." he said.
Miller's right...it's ludicrous to take well-needed honest debate and diminish it because of a "brand name"
*** Next up, FWPD need out help (again?) to find a person responsible for "purchasing" over $9K in BOOZE at various stores around the city with STOLEN credit cards and FAKE IDs from two states.
One of several locations (near you)
Here's the story from WANE:
http://wane.com/2015/03/18/suspect-wanted-in-theft-of-9000-of-alcohol/
Sure looks to be one happy-ass individual...guess I would be too, if I had someone else's credit cards and NO ethics to speak of.
THAT will sure help those "after hours" clubs stay open on the SE side
Not bad vid-caps. We SEE you, asshole.
The car he is supposed to be driving sounds an awful lot like one I see in OUR part of the ghettohood (an observant person tends to NOTICE things like a NY tag on a car), so I'm going to drop a dime and submit a tip to crime-stoppers...just because I can, and perhaps the information I have COULD be the guy they're looking for.
Let's face it, no one seems to (want to) bother with this part of town  that much, so it would be a GOOD place to hang out.
*** Next, looks like we finally have some traffic cams at some intersections around the city.
Here's the story link:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/Cameras-to-assist-at-city-s-intersections-5617255
We see you, too.
If you read the story and see the locations,. they ARE some pretty heavy-traffic areas.
It makes sense to have cameras there, because of the number of accidents at those intersections.
But, the city states it's NOT for enforcement, but for EMERGENCIES (like ACCIDENTS?).
They do have software that can change lights so that emergency vehicles can have high priority through parts of the city.
Hell, they even have something WE can buy that can screw with the lights and change them to OUR advantage..
I mentioned such tech years ago.
(See my archive post from 17 August 2012)
If it saves some lives...fine.
If it catches some bad people...ALSO fine.
*** Our very own councilman, Glynn Hines will be giving his propaganda speech, otherwise known as the State of the 6th District this Saturday...
Not a dream - a NIGHTMARE.
All the usual suspects will be there, you can bet on that.
And we'll hear the same old tired BS from someone that hasn't been able to see the forest for the trees since he took the councilman seat way too long ago.
He only represents HIS people...not everyone. Typical.
*** Last back to the kitchen...`-the world today is a lot more problematic than in times past...at least it seems that way.
Things we never had to concern ourselves with now have to take precedent over things a lot closer to home.
And that's just the tip of the iceberg.
Things that ARE a lot closer to home, like right outside our doors, are also superseding our lives inside our homes.
This is a world where you have to be so much more "on-guard" against the evils of the world, mainly because we've managed to allow NEW evils to be added to all the old ones. The one the first comes to mind is this identity-theft.
Outright cyber-attacks are another - ones that seek to do damage to our infrastructure, our military, and our most closely-kept secrets.
But the typical things like robberies are something that has become a lot more violent, too.
And the best way to commit an armed robbery is to steal a gun from a home that has one.
It's like a domino-effect...one evil begets another...and so on.
"whoa, whoa, whoa, whoooaaaaa".
Usually that first domino is innocent enough - people tossing trash from a car or from their hands. A beer bottle dropped, candy wrappers, juice boxes...disposable diapers...all contribute to blight on an area.
All too often, this goes unchecked, uncited, and unnoticed by the apathetic among us.
And this starts the cycle of another "broken window", to which we ALL know what that means.
The one thing each of us can do is not permit this to occur...at any time.
We have to be the ones that still give a rat's ass as to how people SHOULD behave, and not how they do behave.
All this is not OUR way of doing things...just the RIGHT way of doing them.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Happy Thursday! I need a Friday! Chicken day. Hmmm. We need to get you to lighten up on the cheapo-ness, Bob. I am a coffee snob. I will not drink Folgers or Maxwell House. Has to be good beans. I like me some Starbucks once in a while.

Dear, I could use a Friday every THIRD day...LOL.

I've gad some "uptown" coffee a few times...tastes pretty much the same, except when it comes to the "hop-national bank" test...FAIL!

:)

I like making my own and using flavored creamers to amend them (and a shot or two of some decent hooch...heh)...sorry.

It's not CHEAP...it's more like "cost-effective"...LOL.

Still, if 'ya gotta give in once in a while...not a problem.

Thanks for stopping by today to comment.
(missed seeing 'ya the past few posts).

Roll safe (and well-caffeinated) down there, Kiddo.

We're getting a last blast of winter here too. Needless to say, I'm hating it.

Nice quote from our first Prez. Too bad our current crop of pols can't seem to take that advice.

Truth be told,if only HALF of the pols followed that truth from Washington, we'd ALL be in a lot better state of existence.

I'm also waiting to see what this "snow" is all about...gonna melt as soon as it hits the ground.

Thanks for stopping over today and commenting,.

Roll safe out there.

The weekend flu has bit me again,,, hard to give a coherent comment. Luckily, It looks to be a straightforward, spot on post.

(Y'know, I should just copy and paste that bit...)

Warned Laurie about the booze perp. When you run outta cred at liquor stores, there's always Wal Mart.

Aw, man...sorry to hear about the bug-bite.

And you bring up an excellent point.
Of the po-po are on the lookout at LIQUOR stores...there are always a few other "alternatives" to choose from.

But, I do think with the pictures, and the IDs from GA and CA...it MIGHT force this guy to look OUTSIDE of town (or risk getting nabbed).
Either way works for me.

Thanks for stopping by to comment today.

You get well and stay safe up there, brother.
