30 June 2015

Tuesday Tidbits...
Yessir, right back into the weather rut again.
And, just in time to "celebrate" the 3rd anniversary of the really BIG storms we had come through Fort Wayne in 2012, which knocked out power to damn near the entire city.
We had an almost 3-day outage going on.
Talk about "fun" (and dominoes)
The worst part about THAT storm - the temperatures were a lot more "sultry" than we're currently enjoying.
Say goodbye to June (that used to be such a friendlier month...lol)
APRIL showers...in JUNE?
Today, our Hoosierland weather will be a little bit on the foggy side to start with, but that will give way to (you guessed it)...MORE rain showers, so I wouldn't plan on seeing a whole lotta sunshine, unless you're planning a flight at around "angels 20".
We didn't even make it to 70 degrees yesterday (wasn't my fault), so we'll try again TODAY, with an expected high in the mid-70s.
And now, you can plan YOUR day accordingly, as we all get our morning drink poured and parked nearby and see what's going on...
*** First out of the drainage ditch is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
June 30 -
---Today is NATIONAL METEOR WATCH DAY
Guess that means a lot of people will be doing NOTHING, because I didn't hear of any impending threat to the planet regarding meteors.
Just what we need...another day to "goof off"...like we don't have enough of those already (yes, days AND people).
---It's also... ((rolls eyes))...SOCIAL MEDIA DAY
Isn't this another one of those "everyday" events?
And, be honest now, how much BETTER has your life become since the advent of social media?
How much more "complex" has it become?
Has it made you happier...more content?
How about getting more pissed off at all the trolls, idiots, uninformed misguided socialists and other assorted heathen?
Does it make you long for hand-written letters in cursive and fewer choices of tripe on the television?
Today the TV and computer are fast becoming ONE.
Oh, the fun you can have with that premise, hmm?
Moving on...
*** Yes friends, since it's Tuesday, it must be time to celebrate the chronic (and terminal) stupidity of the (local) human flotsam, as we look at ALL the shots fired and armed robbery calls we had around the city, which local media sources will NOT report, so you can feel more (falsely) AT EASE at home:
Let's practice "duck and cover", kids.

Makes me wonder how MANY of the shots were fireworks...and vice versa (even the police might not know).
*** Next up, a story about a man, a shotgun, and some "pointing" going on.
Here's the link:
http://wane.com/2015/06/28/police-man-arrested-after-pointing-shotgun-at-neighbors/
This took place on the SOUTH side of town.
A man was seen pointing a shotgun at passing cars (from his own yard), and when police got there, the man tossed the shotgun over a fence.
(at least there was no concern over a CONCEALED firearm...lol)
Seems he was charged with intimidation AND being a serious violent FELON in possession of a firearm. Oops, that last one is gonna cost.
(SHOULD be a mandatory 5 year stretch in the hoosegow)
No one was injured.
THIS is what these mooks have to do all damn day...shit like THIS, because none of them work...or even want to work.
Most times, these illiterate bottom-feeders just drive all around, blaring their sound systems on their large-rimmed vehicles (where does THAT money come from?)...and police never stop this crap. It's like saying it's OKAY to do this (at least on the SOUTH side)
Or, they walk down the middle of our streets, or just STAND in an intersection (on the damn phone) - police NEVER stop that either (when the sidewalks are a mere foot away).
And police never seem to stop loud parties, unless called to do so - absolutely NO proactive policing taking place WHERE IT'S NEEDED.
(imagine that)
*** Now, while we're talking about the crotch of this city, let's see ANOTHER upstanding citizen doing what they do best...
Here's the story link:
http://wane.com/2015/06/29/police-arrest-man-after-monday-morning-drug-raid/
A search warrant was served by the city's EST (vice and narcotics) at a house located at 4421 Sanford Lane (off of Tillman between Hessen Cassel and Wayne Trace) yesterday morning around 0715 hrs.
"BUSTED"
Now, if you take some time to check out the address on the maps, you'll see it's a DAMN NICE-looking neighborhood - not the "typical" place you'd find a HEROIN dealer, and certainly not the place a SWAT team would stack up at the front door.
Inside, they arrested one Sherwin L. Underwood, Jr., and he faces 4 felony counts of dealing, maintaining a common nuisance, possessing a sawed-off shotgun , along with misdemeanors of dealing MJ, and paraphernalia.
City health services were also there to test people for HIV and HEP-C. And, Animal Control took custody of one dog.
(wanna bet it was a pit bull?)
You can see that even in well-kept neighborhoods, people like THIS piece of crap can get established.
But again it IS the SE side of town, isn't it?
*** Next up, we took the Wifeymobile in for an oil change yesterday (plus, the low-oil level light was on).
Well, apparently, the car needed some "fixin"...it had a bad idler arm, an A/C leak and a transmission pan gasket leak.
Okay, so when the mechanic called back and told me all that, I had to pull a SITREP on the spot and "sess-up" what to have done.
Since the trans gasket wasn't leaking on the garage floor...we passed on that for now.
Shifts fine enough anyway.
Also, the A/C works well enough, and the mechanic said we could limp by for a year or two...again, we passed on that fix.
Now the IDLER ARM, that was another story.
When Wifey got back from southern Indiana (last week), the car felt "odd". I even checked the tires and she asked why. I said I thought we have a soft one, but we didn't. All the tires were up, so no flats staring at us.
The idler arm is an integral part of the steering system...you have one go bad, and the car doesn't steer as crisply as it should. Might even pull to one side If it breaks altogether...well, that's no fun and you can become a pedestrian real quick.
Yeoman's to the rescue...again.
Anyway, we got THAT job done, it didn't break the bank, and the car didn't act or steer as "sloppy" as it did before.
Chalk that up to decades of driving all sorts of stuff, and knowing what feels right...and what does not. Like Scotty on the Enterprise and the way HIS engines "feel"...lol
*** Last back to the garage...if there is one thing I learned about one's accumulated possessions, it's to acquire the knowledge and wisdom to be a GOOD STEWARD of that which you are permitted to have.
There are many people out there who don't have the slightest inkling as to what the hell that all means...and believe me, that shows.
The RIGHT priorities make a BIG difference.
If you are fortunate enough to OWN a house for example, you take CARE of it,. lest it fall into disrepair and cost you TOO much more of your hard-earned money (and time).
Even if you rent a house or apartment, the better you take care of that, the less problems you encounter.
When you own a car, the same thing applies - you take care of it, and it will take care of you.
(Dad always said that, and he was rarely wrong in such matters)
And you measure success by WHO you are, not WHAT you have.
Anything and everything that is in your possession is fair game for a similar mindset.
With people, the situation become more "involved", as the whole "ownership" thing doesn't apply.
But, a child, or relative, spouse, or even a pet IS under your guidance, care, or watchful eye, and that carries much the same responsibility to take care of him or her.
You can become just as good a steward of them, and by that I mean listening to them, providing a good example for them, and making sure they have every advantage that can be had without breaking a law, or promoting anything less than that which is good, honest, and true.
In that, we, as humans, all become stewards of one ANOTHER, and I think that is a better way for our humanity to advance, rather than retreat.
We should be looking out for one another, but some can't (or won't) even look out for themselves. Others just need a little help.
There is no shame in asking for help, and certainly no shame in accepting it.
Those who believe that they require none of that fool only ONE person, and we know who that is, right?
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Good grief. I hope you have a force field out there amongst those shots around town. Have a great Tuesday, Bob. Only have to work four days this week. It's sorta hump day for me.

Yeah, I bet it makes places like Casper, Wyoming look REALLY TAME, hmm?

Nice to see you got a short week.
I'm guessing some RANGE TIME is on store?
And, if the forecasters would get the weather RIGHT, maybe the rest of us could decide to get things done around the house...or go someplace without driving through the rain.
Today turned out rather GOOD...(those stinking liars)...lol.

Thanks for rolling up today and commenting.

Stay safe & dry down there, dear.

On the social media rap, I have these thoughts: I like it as a way to keep in touch with distant friends, and the new friends around the world I met blogging. Blogging itself is a form of social media, and I appreciate it as a means of expression and community. Used in the right way, it has a lot of benefits, and they outweigh the trolls, if you aren't just out looking for them. I believe in the potential.

Except on the WANE dot com comments section. There is a high concentration of mouthy idiots there. Guess that's the advantage of the "friending" thing.

But the domicile of the dealer is moments from slums and customers in any direction... probably what Sherwin Underwear was thinking.

Darn good timing on the oil change, eh?

I view it much the SAME way...saves a bundle on STAMPS...lol.
(everything else..eh, not so much)
Agreed on the blogging, too. (OBVIOUSLY...heh)

That's the thing...used in the RIGHT WAY.

Hey, I'm ONE of those who comment on WANE, Bub...HA!
(and I get deleted for the truth - go figure)

Yeah, I'll bet GOOD money that is NOT his "only crib" - probably has a STASH house AND a BUY house.
Yeah, talk about "Divine Intervention" w/ the Wifeymobile.
Never knew God was a latent "grease-monkey"
(learn something new every day)

Hey, thanks much for stopping on over to comment.

Stay safe and dry up there, brother.
