Humpday Happenings...
Middle of the week, and pretty much the middle of the month...now THAT is convenient.
And since we had such a nice day yesterday, what say we play that tune one more time?
Our Hoosierland weather will see us with a damn close carbon copy of yesterday, with temps reaching into the low 80s, clear skies, and mild breezes.
But, never fear, some precipitation is slated to roll on near the weekend.
Now, what say we all get our morning drinks poured as we look to the day and see what has transpired?
*** First out of the garden is our WHO SAID THAT? quote of the week:
"Morality is not the doctrine of how we make ourselves happy, but how we make ourselves worthy of happiness."
Lord knows that many who seek morality find themselves displeased, and such should not be the case.
If anything, practicing moral behavior should free a person, rather than enslave one.
So, WHO said that anyway?
The answer at the top of tomorrow's post.
Meanwhile, back at the Age of Enlightenment...
*** Next up is the "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
September 16 -
---Today is NATIONAL PLAY DOH DAY
( and what was YOUR "favorite flavor" when YOU were young?)
---It's also NATIONAL CINNAMON RAISIN BREAD DAY
(can't remember the last time I had this, but I know I like it)
---And, it's NATIONAL STEP FAMILY DAY
---It's also MAYFLOWER DAY
Not the BEST way to get to America back then...just the ONLY way)
---And it's TRAIL OF TEARS COMMEMORATION DAY.
(Definitely NOT one of our nation's BETTER moments in time...)
*** Next up, we have a column in the News-Sentinel from Kevin Leinnger that hits VERY close to home both in the literal and figurative sense.
Here's the story link:
http://www.news-sentinel.com/news/local/leininger/-Little-people--doing-big-things-on-the-southeast-side----and-are-confident-it-will-pay-off
Donny Yeoman - one of THE good guys!
It's a story about Yeoman's Service Center - a mere block away from our "Fortress".
And, this is an example of why people should not "cut and run" from all the crap that the SE side of Fort Wayne has been known for over the past 20+ years. WE are the good guys...and we're staying. Let's get the bad guys the hell out of here.
You know I can't say enough about how Yeoman's does right by us...not too many down there that claim the same.
And that's because SO many have left the area, allowing the riff-raff a place to move into and bring the whole area down in the process..
While (literally) HUNDREDS of businesses have bugged out, there are a few small businesses (like Yeoman's) that DO stay...out of principle.
You stay because you were HERE FIRST, and are not part of this quadrant's problems.
The story is a good read and sheds more light on what I've already said about this business.
*** Next up, well, there's ONE nation that knows HOW to close off it's borders...HUNGARY.
And here's the proof:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/world/Hungary-closes-off-border-to-migrants-8818129
I guess they've figured out how BAD such an immigration situation like this can be, and how dangerous it has the potential to become.
Wish we could do the same along our southern border.
*** In a related story, we're bring told that Syrian refugees are "not expected" HERE (as in Fort Wayne). Here's that story:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/Syrian-influx-not-expected-here-8814117
Something just don't look right here.
BUT (and you know you always have to "beware the but"...resettlement "resources" are ready...JUST IN CASE.
Are you serious?
We are already seeing that some of the Burmese (here) have taken to criminal activity (they like bladed weapons), and this is aside from ALL the illegals that have snuck into our state and city over the decades, because the migratory "path" from the southern border leads up HERE.
You remember THIS map, right?
Now, I said before I'm ALL for hummingbirds and Monarch butterflies coming to stay for a spell, but when it comes to ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS, we should ALL draw the line and stand right in front of it to protect OUR nation and her interests (of which these people are not a part of).
And, if you follow one of the LATEST lies from the Obummer Administration, you would heard that the USA will "accept" 10,000 refugees here...but in ACTUALITY, that number is really closer to 70,000. Here's the proof:
http://www.factcheck.org/2015/09/stretching-facts-on-syrian-refugees/
It's a way down in the article, but them's the FACTS, people...we're being "snookered" once again by those in D.C.
Typical...
*** Last back to the lavender patch...America has always been a leader when it comes to altruism.
We were "the tip of the spear" along those lines.
But that was in a world when we didn't have to worry about insurgent terrorism, which has manifested itself on the world-wide stage.
We pulled off that Berlin Airlift in post WW2 Germany, in spite of the Russian communists, and that feat has NEVER been duplicated since.
But these days, we HAVE to protect OUR people and OUR interests, because there are factions in the world that would seek to overturn ALL the good we've done (or can still do).
If we do NOT take care of OURSELVES first, we will be in no way, shape, or form capable to take care of anyone else.
It's like I said yesterday...and it comes from a proper sense of MORALITY.
Ever hear the phrase "Charity begins AT HOME"?
Well, This nation IS our home, and we're doing a LOT of charitable things for ourselves, as well as still attempting to feed, clothe, house, and take care of much of the rest of the world...and it ALL comes with a hefty price-tag. It's not JUST monetary, either.
The RIGHT direction
We need to concentrate our efforts HERE...NOW, in order to produce the generations that can better take care OF themselves first, and then others afterwards.
And if that means being a little more isolationist in the process, well, that's the way that cookie crumbles.
We need to stop our own people from killing police officers, we need to stop preying on one another, and we need to remove all the drug-culturists from our midst, because none of that is moving our society forward...it's weighing us down.
And that severely inhibits our ability to help others.
When we can learn to trust ourselves, help ourselves, and yes, even love ourselves, THEN and only then can we be better equipped to pass it along, but not before.
I think that has the basis for a solid plan of action, instead of flawed ideas and political rhetoric that will produce more INACTION than anything else..
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Good post, Bob. Happy Hump Day. Is it Friday yet? LOL. What a mess our country is in. Makes me frown. Love the support behind your local business. Keep fighting for the little guys.

I wish to God we'd get this GLOBAL crap under control, so we can CONCENTRATE on the INTERNAL problems right here in the USofA.

We're being circle-jerked in WAY too many directions these days, and it gets hard for us "average people" to focus on (personal) things that matter to US.

Yeah, we little guys HAVE to stick together...no one else is gonna do it FOR us, that's fr sure.

Thanks for rolling up to comment today.

Stay safe down there, Kiddo!

First, the quote- THAT is a winner, so true and so ignored by what we loosely term society.

Second- You should print off a copy of this post to send to Yeoman's. They'll appreciate it, and it never hurts to brown nose the mechanic.

Third- I'M SO EXCITED! Doctor Who Saturday, NCIS TUesday! Not often so happy to sit and watch TV...

Chris:

-- I promise that you will find the author to that quote very interesting, but if you're like me, you might want some CLIFF'S NOTES...LOL.
(I know I did)

-- I might send it along to them at their website, just for the heck of it. I almost called them to congratulate them.

-- BBC America is running The Doctor all day today, tomorrow and Friday into Saturday's premiere.
If I could stay up for the next 72 hours STRAIGHT, I could watch them all (again).

And on SUNDAY, we're going to see some TOM BAKER (#4) episodes...many are some of THE best of the lot.
Check the website schedule...very cool stuff.

Thanks for stopping by today and commenting.

Stay safe (and parked near the "telly") up there, brother.
