Tuesday Tidbits...
Well, we'll try this again, snce the computer "ate" my FIRST attempt (I do not need this crap going on now). No no idea what's going on with the old system, so let's just press on.
Our Hoosierland weather will have us with mostly cloudy skies (sorry, no real sunrise, folks...kinda seems par for today), with temps reaching up to around 60 degrees.
And there is a chance of some light rain later this afternoon.
This is the week we (on the south side) are "supposed" to get our second leaf pickup...we shall see.
In the meantime (and before I shoot the computer), let's get a nice SOOTHING drink poured ( I know I'm gonna need some whiskey in MY coffee), as we see what's been going on elsewhere...
*** First out of the duffle bag is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
November 17 -
---Today is NATIONAL BAKLAVA DAY
Here's the WIKI on it:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baklava
It's quite tasty, and is probably the ONLY goods thing to come out of the Ottoman Empire...or anywhere else in the Middle East (except for oil and camels)
---And, it's also NATIONAL TAKE A HIKE DAY
Wifey and I so enjoyed that hike we took with our friends Chris, Laurie, and Scrappy uptown in those marvelous wooded areas near IPFW.
(but when it comes to our president, looks like over 20 states told him to take one all by himself...LOL)
In fact I like hikes SO much, I often tell OTHERS to "go take one"...HA!
***  Since it's TUESDAY, here are all the FWPD calls that the media DOES NOT REPORT, regarding "shots fired" and "armed robberies":

FIREWORKS CALLS - 11/9 - 11/15
============================
NOV 11 -
15F149520 18:58:27 44FW 7000 POINTE INVERNESS WAY
((Cripes, there just HAS to be ONE effin idiot around))
Oh, and has anyone noticed that the FWPD "discussion forum" is STILL not working after several months?
Now, either they have the SLOWEST freaking I.T. guy on the planet, OR they don't want to bother answering questions that people need answers to...the silence from them is DEAFENING these days, isn't it?
*** Next up, today's paper has a good story about OUR governor (Mike Pence - Indiana) saying he is suspending Syrian refugees coming to HIS (our) state.
Here's the link:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/indiana/Pence--No-Syrian-refugees-9951404
And, in case you were wondering exactly WHERE these refugees were going, here's THIS story:
http://toprightnews.com/map-shows-where-obama-is-already-settling-syrian-refugees-in-america/
In the story link, scroll down and click ON that map to enlarge it (further) and see WHERE they're going...at YOUR expense.
Moreover, you might want to know that "originally", there was only supposed to be 20K refugees coming here.
Refugee map of Syrians in America
That number has (all of a sudden) RISEN to around 200K, thanks to our "fearless leader" (who must dislike America a lot).
We already have a great number of Middle East "settlers" in Michigan (Detroit, Dearborn and Flint)...check it out for yourselves.
The MAIN concern with shutting our doors to these refugees is the administration's INABILITY to properly vet all of them.
And there is one reason for this, although the administration will not admit to it:
Syria does not keep the records WE do on it's people, therefore, you can't find anything on them.
There are a lot on intelligence personnel that feel this is a major FLAW in being able to vet these refugees. And they're right...it IS.
Just because someone doesn't have a "paper trail" does not make them pure as the driven snow...
How did Reagan put it? TRUST...BUT VERIFY.
Without verification, we cannot (or should not) openly trust.
Moving on...
*** Next, the patio has been looking a LOT less colorful the farther we get into the fall season...and that kinda sucks, but we still have our plethora of avian friends stopping by (mostly sparrows and wrens, with a chickadee, nuthatch, or blue jay tossed in.
Looks like the "buffet" is OPEN.
And we also have our squirrel friends, few as they are.
Sunday, I went out to feed Mr. Wrinkles, and he came right up on my knee to get his peanuts. I couldn't take a picture as:
a) The camera was beside me
b)  He was sort of REAL close
c) Wifey wasn't at the door with her cam-phone
Still, THE most-photographed squirrel in Fort Wayne.
Maybe NEXT time?
I'd bet he would come inside the house...not the best choice with one cat still around, right?
We have a "newbie" too. I call him "Zippy", because every time I go out to give him some peanuts, he zips the hell off like we're going to chase him. Gotta kinda sneak up on him/her.
Taken JUST before he zipped away.
Talk about turning down FREE food. We'll wait until the weather gets REAL cold...he might have a change of heart (and appetite)...lol.
*** Last back to the footlocker...I can't recall a time in my 63 years on this planet where our attention has been divided in SO many places seemingly all the damn time.
It's like someone would want us to NOT be able to focus on any one thing at any given moment.
You've heard me refer to this often as a Stretch-Armstrong thing.
It's nice to have more than ONE thing to focus on in life...God, family, the home and garden, the cars, the pets (or children)...the simple things; that which is easiest to keep track of, right?
Then, we have influences that are ALL external in nature...the neighbors, local crime, local politics, and the like.
Farther out, we have state issues, and lastly national issues, which often include the GLOBAL issues of the day.
Think of this as a series of concentric circles with each of US at the center.
What seems to be happening to all of us these days, is the breaking down of those circles which leads to one screwed up mess of things occurring all at once.
All those ancillary aspects to each of the aforementioned things we concentrate on in life are also tossed into the mix.
It's like making a cake but throwing anything and everything into a mixing bowl, stirring it together and tossing it in the oven...in the HOPE that it will come out as desired.
Well, we know that's just slightly south of a crap-sandwich, isn't it?
We need to follow a RECIPE in order to make things the RIGHT way.
As can be said with cooking, can also be said with LIFE ITSELF.
We NEED the right recipe, and it's not everything at once.
And we all are tasked to find out what that recipe is for each of us, because life is not (nor ever has been) something where "one size fits all", at least not in a specific sense. Generally-speaking, we can all be accommodated, but all of us have to find what matters most, prioritize accordingly, remain focused, and always attempt to work towards becoming better than we were the day before. Besides, who like a ruined recipe, right?
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Question for you Bobby G.. once the refugees get in how exactly can you keep them out of our state, since they will be free to travel anywhere they want.. or will they be kept in camps? (haha like that would happen) I do not see a good ending to this.

MsN:
According to Gov Pence, we ALREADY have 20 refugees in the state (were slated for around 50 at this time).

I have neither heard nor seen ANY evidence of any Syrian Muslim "refugee camps", so I would conclude that they would be assimilated right into our communities wherever there would me a mosque nearby.

I think another issue is WHY are we not bringing over all the Syrian CHRISTIAN refugees?
THEY are the ones that NEED to get out(under penalty of death from the radical Islamists)
All I hear about are bringing Muslims into the USA.
Something smells really bad with that one.

Good question.
Hope I managed to shed some light on an answer.

Thanks for taking the time to stop on by and comment today.

Stay safe down there, dear.

Ah, you hit the button of doom, did you?

First, I saw NRK's comment, to which I say, station a man with a shotgun at every border point. Alleviates unemployment and illegals in one blow!

"Only good thing to come out of the Ottoman Empire?" You mean, you didn't like child stealing, Janizzaries, inbred Sultans, royal eye gouging, twice a decade whuppings by Russia, harems filled with under-agers of both sexes, oh, and let's not forget genocide? What's not to love?

The picture on the bridge makes us look like "The Unforgiven"...Although with that gut, my part will be played by Walter Brennan at best.

FWPD discussion forum repairmen have been busy lately digging up donors for the City Clerk's office. Please stand by, your e-mail is important to them!

Nice map- yeah, stick 'em in Detroit, no one'll find 'em there!

Zippy- surprised you didn't name him Barry (as in Allen).

Okay, so I have gotten out more words here than I managed to croak out at work today. Wrote the boss a note: "Can't breathe/Can't talk/ shoulda brought a horn". All I needed for a good Harpo was the curly hair...

Chris:
I didn't know that systems as "dated" as OURS even HAD one of those buttons...LOL.
(I do now, apparently)

--And I have JUST the shotgun for THAT job
https://www.impactguns.com/kel-tec-ksg-12-ga-18in-barrel-shotgun-ksg.aspx

THIS little beauty is perfect.

--Nah, I must be getting "old"...not AS much into that as I SHOULD be, I guess.
(Still like Baklava...figure that's enough)

--My friend, we HAVE BEEN forgiven...that's the good part. I like that photo, BTW.
(Next time, a tripod so we can ALL get in the picture.)

-- MY email important to the FWPD?
BWAHAHAHAaaaa!
(sorry had "A Momentary Lapse of Reason").
Good album, too.

--But Detroit is TOO close to us (AND more importantly, TED NUGENT!!!)

--He's not THAT fast.
More like "half-fast"...LOL.

--You mean you ALREADY have the long trench coat and baggy pants? Lucky you.

Hey, glad you're feeling better.

Thanks for taking time to stop by and comment.
Keep getting well & stay safe up there, brother.
