Tuesday Tidbits...

How about that...still damp outside, and mild...feels just like a couple holiday seasons when I was a child.
MY concern back then was thinking how Santa would manage that sleigh of his WITHOUT snow. No wheels, you see.
Somehow, he did all right...long before the PC-global-warming nitwits surfaced from under whatever rock they were trying to crawl from.
Welcome to the winter solstice of 2015 - shortest day of the year, which means it's also the LONGEST NIGHT of the year. (yeah, this day changes from year to year)
Our Hoosierland weather will see us with temps climbing near to the 50-degree mark, mostly cloudy skies, light breezes, and plenty of last-minute shoppers out there, so be warned.
And, since I already have a nice big cup of coffee (laced with hazelnut creamer, Hershey's syrup and some Canadian mist - it IS good, trust me) parked alongside, it's only fair that you get your morning drink as well so we can all see what's been going on elsewhere...

That's not to say I didn't have a reason.
See, some moron up north decided to marry his vehicle to some utility poles, and that damaged a transformer (no, it wasn't Optimus Prime or Bumblebee).
That domino effect managed to take several radio stations OFF THE AIR for an hour or so.
Weird thing about it - the ONLY TWO stations I listen to and have on in the house were WOWO (talk radio) and WBNI (classical).
I tried to find a rock station, but "The Bear" was also off the air, as was K-105 and WMEE.
Luckily, I went to the WOWO site and got a live feed of what was on, but the rest of the house (and not those hills) "...was alive...with the sound of STATIC....!"

Wonder who plans this kinda crap?
You know, when the Lovely Mrs. Bobby G. is not here, this house seems a bit larger.

Excessive speed? Welcome to "DUH"!

This is the house I mentioned yesterday, and how a man is made a tad more homeless than he thought he'd be for the Christmas season.
Helluva draft he's got there.
Not exactly habitable for a house that's been in the family since the 70s. As someone who also lives at a corner, I worry about the same thing - excessive SPEED and drivers either drunk as hell or stoned off their asses.
Hell, we also have a utility pole at the corner and THAT could come crashing down on the "Fortress" if hit the right way.
The only "saving grace" is that our house is on a slight hill, so a vehicle would have to climb the hill to get to the structure, but I would not put that past SOME of these idiots that the FWPD can never seem to catch (oh, wait, you have to be PATROLLING the area to catch them...right. Forgot about that).
*** Next up, and speaking of the "homeless" AND some BAD driving, a black woman purposely drove onto a sidewalk along the Vegas strip, and ran over a lot of people, killing one, and putting over 30 more in hospital, some of whom are still in critical condition.

Lakeisha N. Holloway, 24, who was said to be from OREGON is the driver of the old 90s Oldsmobile who didn't even seem distressed for what she had done, according to police who arrested her
(nice job, LEOs).
It was said that she might have been trying to get to her "boyfriend" (who is the father of a 3 year old she had in her car) living in Dallas.
Got news for this loser, you DON'T get to Dallas from Oregon by running into a crowd of people in Vegas.
The no-nonsense attorney in Las Vegas said that seeking the death penalty is "a consideration", as charges of murder and attempted murder are staring this woman in the face.
Way to screw the holidays for so many, shit-for-brains.
Tis the season.,..to be stoopid, hmm?
*** Last back to the kitchen sink...Christmas SHOULD be a time of cheer, and of good will toward our fellow man, right?

But, sometimes, people get "distracted", and lose their way on that trek.
That's when we see that this time of year displays BOTH sids of mankind and the society we have allowed to be created.
We see the BEST of humanity through charitable and unselfish giving, and we also see the WORST side of humanity; the predators who only TAKE from others by any means, or choose to ignore the laws we have created JUST for them in the first place.
You know, it's MUCH easier to be a good person, especially during the Christmas season, and there is simply NO excuse (or reason) to NOT be that way, unless you feel you're entitled to think yourself above any and all laws.
And, it's these few morons that will attempt to ruin the season for many.

Curiously enough, a time of year when we SHOULD all be focused on WHY we celebrate what we do, we find instead, a study of contrasts within our society, and this is without the external influences we have to endure.
It would benefit us ALL greatly, if we made just a few better choices in life.
And, more importantly, it would allow us to fully understand the ethical and moral implications of the season.
To not take such things to heart does more harm than we can imagine.
After all, isn't THIS time of year one in which any form of harm SHOULD be put aside?
