Tuesday Tidbits...
Welcome to what looks like a repeat of yesterday, at least from where I'm staring out the window. (only the calendar tells me different)
I will say the rain we've had is making a lot of things around here a lot greener.
Lord knows living down here on the "dark continent" of Fort Wayne begs for hues other than those we typically view. And Mother Nature's springtime additions are a welcome sight.
Our Hoosierland weather for today sees us with more scattered showers early on. That will turn into partly cloudy skies this afternoon (can't say exactly when), with temps reaching to the lower 60s. Still comfy enough for me.
So, let's take a moment and get ourselves a soothing drink poured as we see what's been going on in all those old familiar places, okay?
*** First out of the rabbit hole is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
May 3 -
---Today is NATIONAL SAN ARCHITECT DAY
(We're talking "I.T." architects here, kids)
---It's also NATIONAL TEXTILES DAY
(we'd be a lot more "nekkid" without 'em)
---It's NATIONAL CHOCOLATE CUSTARD DAY
(you had me at "chocolate")
---And, it's NATIONAL GARDEN MEDITATION DAY
(We do what we can when we can where we can in our garden)
---It's also NATIONAL LUMPY RUG DAY
(at last, a day that celebrates where governments sweep everything)
---It's NATIONAL PARANORMAL DAY
(that explains the REST of government...LOL)
---And, it's NATIONAL RASPBERRY POPOVER DAY
(looks good enough)
---It's also NATIONAL SPECIALLY-ABLED  PETS DAY
(Many of them get around very well)
---It's NATIONAL TWO DIFFERENT COLORED SHOES DAY
(seriously? call it color-blindness or lack of fashion sense day instead)
---And, it's NATIONAL TEACHER APPRECIATION DAY
(under-appreciated, underpaid, and overworked...sounds par for the course)
*** Next up, and because it's Tuesday, let's see what's been going on around the city with ALL the shots fired and armed robbery calls that the media never tells us about...

*** Next up, when you think ILLEGAL ALIENS (other than those found in Roswell...lol), you tend to think of all the ADULTS, but, it's a LOT more than that, as this story describes:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/us/Migrant-youth-fleeing-violence-turned-away-by-American-schools-12860538
Yeah, remember all those YOUNG people flooding across our southern border? There were TENS of thousands of them, and some of them managed to wind up in (of all places) MEMPHIS, TENNESSE!
(bet they didn't come for the country music).
All these basically ILLITERATE young people are not being allowed in the schools, and with good reason. They lack transcripts or are too old to make graduation. (big surprise there, right?)
THAT is why we have a LEGAL PATH to immigration, and many follow it well enough and assimilate into OUR society. It's worked since this nation was founded BY immigrants (from Europe).
Anyone wanting wholesale amnesty for these people (this teen was from Guatemala) is trying to turn our nation into the other 3rd world ones out there, make no mistake.
You follow the rules of ENTRY here, or you don't come in...simple as that.
It's not harsh or wrong...it's just RIGHT...period.
*** Next, a couple more articles about the planned annexation in Fort Wayne.
First, a POV from a city councilman, Jason Arp:
http://www.journalgazette.net/opinion/columns/VEXATION-over-ANNEXATION-12785240
This is a really good read and lends credence to the "reasons" behind it.
And then, there's this about the ACPL (our county's public library):
http://www.wowo.com/allen-county-public-library-concerned-fort-wayne-annexation-plans/
Although a bit brief, this cuts to the heart of the matter with our downtown facility.
*** Next, a letter to the editor that says much more than the printed words themselves:
Focus on victims of crime misguided
The efforts of the Fort Wayne Police Department are greatly appreciated and respected, and the men and women who put on the uniform are heroes. That said, the April 14 statements by spokesperson Officer Michael Joyner, blaming victims for the crimes committed against them, are insulting, logically inconsistent, misguided and without any legal basis.
I have several questions. Is blaming victims the new official position of the FWPD? For how many other crimes are victims now responsible? Will I be at fault for being on the road if I am struck by a drunk driver? Will bank managers be at fault for not having a better security system if their bank is robbed? Will women be prosecuted for not carrying a defensive weapon if they are assaulted? In the cases of the car break-ins, if the thief is caught, will the victim be prosecuted since the crime was their fault? To what length must the victim’s preventive measures extend before the crime is no longer their fault?
While not taking certain preventive measures may put me at greater risk, under no circumstances does it make me responsible for the willful commission of crimes by another. I appreciate the desire that Officer Joyner and the FWPD have to keep citizens safe, but I respectfully submit that this ideology focuses the blame on the wrong person and thus guides the department in a wrong direction.
JUSTIN WOODWARD
Fort Wayne
Yeah, I think Justin "gets it".
Blame needs to be PROPERLY assessed and upon the right people.
*** Oh, and speaking of such things as mentioned above, there's no new information regarding the dead woman OR the two shootings...in case you were wondering.
Note to the FWPD!
(I've grown accustomed to the LACK of information whenever this stuff occurs)
No one seems to know anything, and if they do, aren't saying anything. (typical).
*** Next up...yes, it is election day in Indiana (for the PRIMARY candidates).
I suppose that means Dems will be voting early, AND OFTEN.
I also suppose all those damn phone solicitations and "surveys" will be ceasing soon enough.
Talk about a ROYAL pain-in-the-ass!
Then, there are these kinda things that the media didn't allude to were the (Hispanic) protesters at the Trump rally, some as young as 10 years old, tossing some nice swear words (and middle fingers) around. Think I'm making this up? Check this link out:
http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2016/05/02/make-america-mexico-again-why-american-are-fed-up-with-illegals.html
Make America Mexico Again...WTF???
They might be illegal in some cases, but they sure know their American cuss words and epithets.
Amazing how well (and quickly) they adapt to THOSE.
*** Next up, I do believe that the new Captain America film will make around $200 MIL this weekend.
It's already made near as much since it's overseas release (26 April), and looks to be (according to some reviewers) the BEST movie in the MCU to date.
And while it may never win any Oscars for best picture, many are calling it extremely entertaining, and isn't that what a movie is SUPPOSED to be? Excelsior!
*** Last back to the looking glass...when will ALL Americans decide to take off their blinders, and begin to see the truth to almost any matter that presents itself?
I often wonder what it will take to make that happen.
Sometimes, it takes a disastrous or catastrophic event (like 9/11 or Katrina). Or, it can be the senseless death of a teen on a city street by a shootout among rival gangs.
It can even be the rantings of some political candidate that gets people questioning what is really being said behind the words they're hearing.
Whatever the case, the TRUTH will always win out, even if it takes a lot longer than it should.
And usually, people often regret NOT having heard the truth SOONER. (that's called 20/20 HINDSIGHT, if you're curious)
I suppose for some, that a 24/7 news cycle is good enough...plenty of fodder to sift through, and make a decision based SOLELY upon who makes the most grandiose statements, says the most egregious things, or has the most applause. It becomes more entertaining than informative, and there lies a vicious trap.
We are an entertainment-driven society these days, thanks in no small part to all the technology we have at our disposal. I've said this many times, because it's TRUE.
If you read the header of this blog where I cite George Washington, you KNOW it's right. Truth WILL prevail.
For some, it's revelatory in nature. For others, it will take time.
But we all have to SEEK the truth if our journey through life is to have any lasting meaning, for it never always comes to US. That's not such a high price to pay for real liberation...is it?
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Egads, Bob. It's Tuesday and are you already having civil wars and disagreements up there? Just go outside and shoot off some firearms to vent like everyone else does. Voting today? Happy Tuesday!

I have said for YEARS that we could be staring at another civil war, but not North against South, if you get my drift. It's been simmering for a while now, too.
(and by the looks of the primary campaigns, we're damn near THERE...lol).

If I lived in the COUNTY, I COULD cap off a few mags...that would be such a release, but we're here in the CITY, where the only citizens allowed to do so are the PERPS...heh. (could PAY for some range time)

Can't vote - didn't register (hate jury duty). That covers it.

We'll try and make it AS happy as we can.
You do the same.
Thanks much for rolling up today and commenting.
Always appreciated.

Stay safe down there, Kiddo.
