Friday Follies...
Welcome to the weekend (if you can find it here in the Heartland).
Seems we're starting out with some fog, and apparently enough of it to cause school delays.
Well, it's not that dense where I cannot see any of the neighbor's houses...damn it!
(the less I see of them, the better...lol)
Our Hoosierland weather for the rest of the day will find us with mostly cloudy skies, a chance of showers during the day and a high of around 82 degrees (where's the damn cool down?).
So, what say we kick things off with our favorite refreshing drink, as we see what else has been going on since yesterday, hmm?
*** First out of the lighthouse is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
SEPTEMBER 9 -
---Today is CARE BEARS SHARE YOUR CARE DAY
(doesn't this come under the banner of "teddy bear"?)
---It's also NATIONAL HUG YOUR BOSS DAY
(um...no thank you?)
---It's NATIONAL TEDDY BEAR DAY
(Hard to believe that TR started this)
---It's STAND UP TO CANCER DAY
(w're so close to a real cure, too)
---It's also NATIONAL WIENER SCHNITZEL DAY
(keep it in your pants, Anthony)
*** And since the end of the rolling week has arrived, let's see what goes on over those 48 hours...
SEPTEMBER 10 -
---Saturday is NATIONAL SWAP IDEAS DAY
(Lots of folks wouldn't like some of mine)
---And, it's NATIONAL TV DINNER DAY
(thank God for a man named Swanson and his sons who started it back in 1953)
SEPTEMBER 11 -
---Sunday is NATIONAL MAKE YOUR BED DAY
(and yes, you'll have to sleep in it too...lol)
---It's NATIONAL HOT CROSS BUN DAY
(and we thought it was just a nursery rhyme song)
---It's also NATIONAL HUG YOUR HOUND DAY
(hear that Scrappy?)
---It's  NATIONAL GRANDPARENTS DAY
(chat with them if you have them...you'll learn a lot)
---It's also NATIONAL PET MEMORIAL DAY
(Lord knows we've all lost our share of beloved pets)
---And, it's PATRIOT DAY
(our national day of remembrance and service).
There you have it...stay out of trouble and behave yourselves.
*** Next up, it would appear that all this riverfront development is moving ahead at break-neck speed. Damn the torpedoes time?
And I thought we were JUST in the planning phase, and that nothing was etched in stone yet?
Here's the latest story:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/Riverfront-pavilion-plan-unveiled-15144971
Wow...look at that pavilion...makes headwaters park look like a beer tent, doesn't it?
We trying to be Sydney, Australia now?
This is looking more like a "done deal" in this city, and the best we can do for the SE side is dump more "affordable housing" here...whatta joke.
*** Next, the airshow takes place tomorrow and Sunday here in Fort Wayne.
(I'm taking a pass this time around)
I've seen the static displays before, didn't like the price of the food concessions, and wore myself out walking about, but it was still kinda fun, because I didn't have to be "shuttled" uptown to downtown and back again like THIS year.
Also, I was able to park just outside the ANG base on the grass, and that wasn't a bother coming OR going, unlike THIS time around, where I would have to find parking downtown (where other events are also taking place).
Sorry, but this year has all the making of a minor clusterf*ck. Plus, the weather tomorrow would not be amicable to the "high-ceiling" show put on by the USAF's Thunderbirds.
*** Next, Sunday is the annual Monarch Festival out at Eagle Marsh, and that will be worth taking in with Wifey.
The wetlands preserve is dedicating a new entrance today as well.
I just hope they decide to do the parking like last year when they lined us all up along Engle Rd.
That was not a problem at all..plus, we might get a few flyovers from the FW airport (from the aforementioned airshow).
*** Next up, the nest chapter in "The Hobo Chronicles"...
As yesterday was one soggy-ass day, there was little to do except try and avoid getting soaked.
Our furry buddy didn't make that happen too well. He did get wet, but he dries out quickly.
So, it was back to the "bin-shelter" for food.
And then, some appreciative nap time.
While I was outside, we even got our own "airshow" with some of the Thunderbirds doing low-level flying over the "Fortress".
Managed to get one decent picture...sort of.
They tend to move faster than the A-10s, and are a lot louder, so you know they're coming.
At least today's fog didn't make finding Hobo harder...I just home-in on his meows...lol.
*** Last back to the fog-bank...nice to see the natives not AS restless as they typically are...for a change.
When in doubt...get CHUCK!
I know (as do you) that won't last long, because such people live for the chaos they create.
Now, when you attend an event like the monarch gig or the airshow, you don't find such morons at those things.
Well, we know YOU don't.
God forbid that they would want to go to something that might be a bit educational, and enlightening.
(neither of which are "white things", so we can't toss out a race card here...sorry)
With all the time such people seem to have on their primate paws, you'd think they could spend some of it doing something CONstructive, rather than DEstructive, but that's not often the case with these morons.
Taking their kids to something good just isn't on their to-do list, unless there are some giveaways or free food and drink...THAT they will attend (and every time, too). It's that whole entitlement mindset at work again.
Maybe they could try something a bit different...like being entitled to MOTIVATE THEMSELVES to do better for themselves AND their offspring. Now there's a good idea, hmm? Well, we all ARE entitled to that, right?
Regular people know the value of personal entitlements, and also know those who pursue all the grandiose "gub'ment giveaways" that many are so fond of gobbling up like a starving person in a soup kitchen.
The entitlement-driven leech off of those who express compassion for others, as well as from the government.
That's a nasty habit to get into, and an even worse situation to extricate oneself from (it's so damn comfortable), right?
It becomes just another addiction for them, rather than something approaching a "passion", and does nothing to elevate them from their current place in life. It only perpetuates it, and in many cases, generationally.
We, as a nation can do SO much better than that, and we should, if the liberals among us would stop and see the damage they've done and continue to do to these people.
Until that changes, we're on our own for the time being, as it were.
But, at least we're secure in the knowledge that we're moving forward in OUR lives.
Have yourselves a good weekend.
Be well, make a difference to someone today, and as always...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Yes, the fog was nasty this AM...

...but as for the day, it was a "don't care bear" day.

Hug my boss? Please. Do you think I work for Marilyn Monroe or something?

I'll be skipping make my bed day... more like stay in bed day, lol!

That dog gets more hugs... gives em back too.

Grandparents Day... see me NEXT year.

That pavillion looks like Picasso's rest area.

Enjoy Monarch Day, dude! And I'll let you know when we start getting some color on the trees.

Chris:
---Yep, made me feel like I was back in JERSEY with the fog.
Went away fast enough, too.
---Don't Care Bear Day...LOL...we need some of THOSE!
---I hear that. If you don't get outta bed, you don't have to make it. Love the logic there.
---We're NOT talking LEGS there, buster...LOL!
(and no tongues, either)
---That's right...grandpa...heh.
---Picasso's rest area...LMAO. That's downright brilliant!
---Dunno about much hiking the trails at Eagle marsh...we always seem to get some rain BEFORE the event (slogging through wetlands...been there, done that (enough),

Thanks for stopping by today to comment.
(we now return you to your regularly-scheduled CLASSIC STAR TREK episode).

Have a great weekend & stay safe (also dry) up there, brother.
