Tuesday Tidbits...
Welcome to "one of those days", as I like to call them. It's the kind of day that no matter WHAT news (?) source you seek out, you just step back, look at the human race, and wonder how serious it seems to view it's own future.
Well, at least it's a bit more fall-like outside this morning, so we know the seasons are still functioning.
Our Hoosierland weather brings us mostly sunny skies mild breezes, and a high today of around the low 70-degree mark. Might have a late day shower, though. I do like light jacket or sweater weather...always did.
Now, what say we get a nice hot cup of coffee, tea, or cocoa to take any chill off as we see what's been going on in "all the old familiar places", hmm?
*** First off of the maple tree is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
SEPTEMBER 27 -
---Today is NATIONAL CHOCOLATE MILK DAY
(now there's a great way to start ANY day)
---It's NATIONAL CRUSH A CAN DAY
(I prefer to use them for target practice...and then crush them)
---It's also NATIONAL CORNED BEEF HASH DAY
(kill two birds with one stone - eat a can of hash, then crush the can)
---It's NATIONAL WOMAN ROAD WARRIOR DAY
(move over Mad Max)
---And, it's NATIONAL VOTER REGISTRATION DAY
(shame we can't vote for who we REALLY want)
*** Next up, and because it's a Tuesday, time to publish all the shots fired and armed robbery calls the media forgot ever so conveniently.

============================
*** Next up, a tragic end to yesterday's state-wide Amber Alert. Here's the story:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/police-fire/Amber-Alert-issued-in-abduction-of-2-Allen-County-children-15466772
The children were found dead, thanks to their VERY disturbed mother (who is in custody), and this is such a shame. The kids didn't do a DAMN thing to warrant such an end.
Who speaks for the innocent?
The older man who was said to be with the mother has not been found yet, either.
(maybe he's the body found on Wallen Rd?)
She's in custody - he's not found yet
This began in Fort Wayne yesterday morning and ended up in Elkhart .
I think hell has a place reserved for this mother of two.
We all know that her punishment won't fit the crime.
Drugs will do strange things to people, and take innocents along for the ride. Very tragic.
*** Next up, the natives are still pretty restless down on the (...all together, kids...) SOUTHEAST SIDE of Fort Wayne.
Let's see what they've been up to.
---Our first shooting hands us HOMICIDE NUMBER THIRTY SIX (that's 36 now). Here's the story:
http://wane.com/2016/09/26/police-investigate-shooting-on-fort-waynes-south-side/
This took place around 1650 hrs in the 4400 block of S. Warsaw St.
Police responded to a call reporting shots fired and when they arrived, found a male in a driveway suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Paramedics transported the victim to hospital where he later died.
Shell casings were found nearby, and neighbors said a car left the area right after the shooting.
No other suspect or vehicle information was forthcoming, and this remains under investigation.
---The NEXT shooting takes place later that night. Here's that story:
http://wane.com/2016/09/26/person-seriously-hurt-in-shooting/
This  happened around 2230 hrs in the 2500 block of Drexel Avenue.
Police responded to a shots fired call and when they arrived, they found a man inside a home suffering from (what else?) a gunshot wound. Police believe an altercation began outside and that was where the victim was initially shot.
Police found shell casings outside and a vehicle that had been hit several times by gunfire.
Would not surprise me if at least one of these shootingd might be related to the Avondale shooting last week. With these vermin, you never discount ANY possibility.
*** Next, there was SUPPOSED to be a presidential debate airing last night.
Thankfully, there was other fare to watch like Three's Company reruns and Supergirl...lol.
What I did see of this debate boiled down to two petulant and spoiled children bickering in a school yard...not much more.
They should BOTH step aside and allow our country to choose someone who can run our nation, and not into the ground as has been done for the last 8 years.
The less said about this debate...the better.
*** Next up, another page of "The Hobo Chronicles"...
"That squirrel is one quick sumbitch".
Our little buddy spent most of the day TRYING to chase some more squirrels. One squirrel was on the front lawn, with Hobo on the steps watching him. When Hobo decided to make his move, the squirrel did likewise UP the tree. I called Hobo back, and as soon as he came back to the steps, the squirrel came down the tree, and stood up on his hind legs watching the cat. Talk about a bit of an intimidation factor...LOL. That was priceless, and all happened out of reach of the camera, unfortunately.
"I need to refuel before another chase."
When Hobo came back around to the patio, I left some peanuts on the front step for the squirrel (seemed like Squirt or maybe Junior). The peanuts were gone in less than a half hour.
*** Last back to the old oak tree...like I said in my open, are we, as humans in general, and Americans in particular, taking our future seriously?
In many ways, it would appear not so much.
The lead-up to the debate seemed more like a damn WWE pay-per-view event than something as serious as what it should be. All that was missing were the pyrotechnics. Maybe for the NEXT "debate"?
Too much of life is becoming a damn sideshow for too many people.
Granted that life is too short to take TOO seriously, but c'mon now. Sooner or later you have to give in and start becoming responsible and put on the grown up pants.
You have to learn to strike a balance...much like the moderation that Ben Franklin told us about.
You can have your moments of stark seriousness, just as much as you can have your moments of complete frivolity, but you can't have one OR the other all the damn time.
When we start treating the important things in life as the trivial, and the trivial as the important, we start down a very slippery slope, and one that will most assuredly catch many of us off guard.
People need to start putting things in their PROPER perspective, and not be allowing the winds of change or the waves of evil to set upon them and push them off course.
To do less it to become less, and we don't want to tread there.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Chocolate Milk day- wow, I actually HAD some this time!

Crush a can- did that, too!

I have a VERY hard time having mercy on the kids story. All I can say is, into Your hands, O Lord.

Well, if that's how you feel about the debate, you might wanna avoid my post today, lol...

Seems like squirrels like teasing cats as much as dogs, huh? That's why Scrappy ignores 'em.

Chris:
---I'm one of those folks that puts Hershey's in his COFFEE...LOL.
---Sorry, didn't crush any cans today. Shot a couple, though.
---The only mercy I can see in that story is GOD'S mercy on the children (two new angels).
---NAH...I HAVE to check that out! You know me...LOL.
---Good for Scrappy...(bad for Hobo)...the little bugger was wonderfully defiant...heh.

Hey, thanks for stopping by to comment today.

Stay safe (and knowledgeable) up there, brother.
