Thoughts For Thursday...
As expected, I had a difficult day yesterday, but Wifey chose to spend it with me.
That was a godsend.
And one might look at today's local forecast as being as if "the sky is crying".
Well, that makes two of us.
Our Hoosierland weather will see us with rain today (pretty easy to guess that one), cooler conditions, with a high of around 60 degrees, and slight breezes added in. We might catch a break in the rain only to have it come back later this afternoon. Looks like Hobo uses the temp shelter for dining today.
Let's go and get that morning drink poured as we see what else has been going on, shall we?
*** First off of the driveway, there is no answer to any quote, because of yesterday, but I will say that there WAS a quote nonetheless.
The FIRST picture at the top was one that touched my heart.
"Not the hard thing to hear when they go away from us, these quiet friends, is that they carry with them so many years of our lives."
This was spoken by John Galsworthy (14 August 1867 – 31 January 1933) and here is his WIKI:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Galsworthy
He was an English playwright and author.
You may have seen his most notable work on  PBS years ago - The Forsyte Saga.
Most of his plays of his period dealt with class and social issues.
One would consider him a prolific playwright (when you look at his selected works).
Oh, and THIS man was awarded the Nobel prize for LITERATURE in 1932.
(take that, Bob Dylan...a REAL writer)
*** Next up, time to see "What the hell happens today, Bob?":
OCTOBER 20 -
---Today is NATIONAL BRANDIED FRUIT DAY
(best way to eat fruit, imho)
---It's also NATIONAL GET SMART ABOUT CREDIT DAY
(good way to avoid the poorhouse)
---And, it's GET TO KNOW YOUR CUSTOMERS DAY
(that should be a two-way street)
*** Next up, two more suspicious deaths in County Allen.
Here's the story link:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/police-fire/Police-investigating-pair-of-suspicious-deaths-15864546
A man's body was found in a ditch alongside the 6400 block of Fairfield Ave (near Tillman).
And, a woman was found dead inside a house at 1024 Hartzell Rd in New Haven. Friends of the victim at ths house ID'ed her as Jamie Klein, 30.
WANE has more details here:
http://wane.com/2016/10/19/death-investigation-underway-at-new-haven-home-foul-play-suspected/
If both are ruled homicides (which I already will) this will bring the Allen County total for the year up to 43 homicides.
*** Next up, yes, there was another page of "The Hobo Chronicles"...
"I'm sorry about your buddy, Bob."
Our little friend stayed close most of the day, and every time I went outside, he was practically glued to my leg.
Couldn't take two steps without him following along as a second shadow.
See, animals CAN sense the emotions of humans.
"What? I'm guarding the plants."
Hobo did find a new place to nap - right near the milkweed plant (which is close to opening it's seed pods).
*** Last back to the garage...I can already feel how much larger this house seems without Rassie.
My buddy in better times...
It was a short drive to the vet yesterday, and I had him wrapped in a red towel (could not for the life of me find the beige one for the carrier). His paws were stiff and cold, but his body's core still had some warmth to it,
He rode in my lap for the brief ride in Wifey's car.
That's the thing with passing away...EVERYONE gets a ride in a nice car at the end. So it was with Rassie.
The vet came out in the parking lot to meet us (after Wifey did some paperwork), and she had a large green plastic bag, which initially bothered me, but I knew that was standard procedure.
She took him inside, and that's the last I saw of him. We paid to have him cremated and the ashes spread over the 2016 rose garden at Pet Rest, Inc down in Ossian (where his sister's ashes were spread back in 2013).
We have got to go down there and take a walk around. It's a family run business, and by the looks of it, they've done a marvelous job of creating the right atmosphere with the final resting places for pets and well as a place for the owners to come and grieve properly.
I also took to creating a website for both our cats at Pets-memories.com
Here is the link for Rassie:
http://rassie.pets-memories.com/
And here is the link for Penelope aka Neepers:
http://neepers.pets-memories.com/
I will be adding some stories and pictures as I get the sites built further.
You can stop by and light a candle or sign the guestbook if you wish.
No more storms...
Otherwise, it was a lousy night for me, as we had thunderstorms, because Rassie was always bothered by them.
He would seek me out and stay very close, especially when I was sleeping. Storms never bothered me, but it was nice to know Rass could find comfort curling up near me.
Last night was different, however ,as I could not sleep.
I still had concern for a friend that was no longer in my charge.
(old habits die hard)
And there will come the time when we put away the litter pan, water and food dish, and all the toys...just not today.
I know Rassie doesn't have to worry about anything anymore, but I have to work through this cycle of bereavement.
There are those special souls we encounter in life, that you're not meant to ever forget.
And, as long as we take time to remember them, they will never really be gone from us.
That applies to ALL who depart from our lives.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

MsN:
Thank you so very much.
When you have a pet for THAT many years, it's hard to just turn everything you did for them completely OFF.

He depended on us for 20 years, and because he lived that long, I think we were doing something right.
Can't ask more than that, hmm?

Thanks for stopping by and commenting today.

Do stay safe (and dry) down there, dear.

I didn't know Galsworthy, but at first I thought the pictures were Harry Morgan, lol!

Last night's sleep- I'll be there someday too. Know just what you mean, in no hurry to feel it.

Chris:
I guess if Harry Morgan were still with us, he'd agree with 'ya.
The (lack of) sleep is one thing, the near constant heartburn after meals is another.
If I get an ulcer...I EARNED it...heh.

Thanks for stopping by to comment.

Stay safe & dry up there, brother.
