Humpday Happenings...
This is the last one I'm going to post for THIS year. So there!
The good news is that when the sun comes up, we'll actually get to SEE it for a change.
Our Hoosierland weather for today will find us with sunny skies to start out with, turning over to cloudy skies by late afternoon (maybe sooner).
Temps today will top out around 42 degrees, and we'll have a chance of a snow shower by evening (maybe not).
SO, what say we get that piping hot morning drink poured to chase the chill away, as we see what's been going on elsewhere?
*** First out of the litterpan is our WHO SAID THAT? quote of the week (and the last one this year):
"Year's end is neither an end nor a beginning but a going on, with all the wisdom that experience can instill in us."
Somehow, this seems all too appropriate a way to send off the old year, and welcome in the new one. So, WHO said that?
The answer at the top of tomorrow's post.
Meanwhile, back at the editorial department of the New York Times...
*** Next up, time for our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
DECEMBER 28 -
---Today is National Chocolate Candy Day
(say...no...more)
---It's National Card Playing Day
(deal me in)
---It's Holy Innocents Day
(Read Matthew 2:16 for the lowdown)
---And, it's Pledge of Allegiance Day
(feel free to learn some history)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pledge_of_Allegiance
*** Next up, it's time to see what today's dose of stupid looks like...
---This story had me torn between laughing my ass off and putting a foot through the television
(I just ranted instead) Here's the link:
http://wane.com/2016/12/27/mayor-reflects-on-2016-looks-forward-to-2017/
Our "king" was interviewed by WANE about this year and what we can expect for next year.
Had to say, I caught him with his OWN words...(as usual for most any democrat).
Naturally, he spoke highly of ALL the development (downtown and the riverfront), but he had some interesting words regarding the crime.
It's drugs, gangs and guns that are causing the problems ('ya think?) and that with 28 new FWPD officers slated to be on the streets next year, the department will be up to around 460 sworn officers (should had that many ten years ago).
((“We’re probably going to be up to a full complement of police officers,” Henry said. “That’s a point we haven’t been to in a while because of financial challenges.”))
Okay, so if you KNEW we had such an issue (specifically SE) and needed funds for more officers, WHY have you waited SO damn long? Why didn't you take some (or all) of the "development" money and REDIRECT it to PUBLIC SAFETY, rather than sit on your ass and hope some GRANTS come your way, hmm?
See, THESE are the questions that need to be asked of our ruler, but that's fine, I LISTEN to what he says, and he spoke about ALL the development (which included MILLIONS in CITY funds) for downtown and along the riverfront (studies have cost well over half a million already). That's doing the blighted parts of this city NO damn good at all.
Our infrastructure is also an issue, and because of years of inattention, is causing problems throughout the city.
That's the thing with democrats, they SAY they have all these plans and yet, when the rubber meets the road, we find out the tires are going flat and the roads need major repair. Typical.
I think he's stayed around City Hall for too damn long, and our part of town shows such "lack of vision".
Funny thing, it's spreading to other parts of town now, and that's not a good thing.
*** Next up, and leaving the stupid behind us, and also hoping none of you have been in a cave watching the shadows on the back walls, Carrie Fisher aka Princess Leia has passed away at the age of 60, and has become "one with the Force".
And the Force never looked so good.
Here is her WIKI:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carrie_Fisher
Let's just say that there has been so much said already, that I can add nothing, so I'll leave it up to all of you to read about here.
BTW, she was also the voice of "Angela" the boss of Peter Griffin at the Brewery on Family Guy,
I know she will be greatly missed by more than just her legion of Star Wrs fans.
*** Next, time to drop on by "Kitten Corner"...
Aside from 11 PM crazies, the balance of yesterday went pretty well.
I caught Violet trying to play with a Christmas ornament while Gallifrey kept lookout, when he wasn't otherwise "occupied"....at the scratching post.
Which begs the question "What will they find amusing AFTER we take the tree down?"
God only knows.
(and he's not cluing me in...lol)
Both of them do have the "face rub", of which I can never get pictures of, for the obvious reasons)
Then, when it's time to eat, they will hover around my feet, which makes getting their food TO them less than easy. I almost tripped a couple times, and they almost got stepped on a couple times.
We're about even there...heh.
So cute when they're ASLEEP.
You cannot stay angry (or even get angry) when you're up to your ankles in "cute".
*** Last back to the water bowl...for me, this year has been a real study in contrasts.
2016 seemed more like THIS.
I wonder if you felt the same way?
This year certainly felt like riding in an elevator, in that we had plenty of UPS and DOWNS, but it was all the JERKS that disturbed that ride, making it a less than pleasurable experience.
And that doesn't just apply to the world or even our nation in general.
Such vicissitudes filtered all the way down to a personal level for me.
(I think all of you know why that was, too)
Yet, through all of it, we had a decent amount of good things...in various sizes, large and small.
Life is indeed a journey, and no matter what lies ahead, all of us have to face things as they come.
How we react will determine our path from there on...it always has, and it always will.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

I was looking at your WANE graphic and thought, well I can see why Chula Vista would be so low in cops. After all, that's the heart of rainbow-farting unicorn land, and I'm SURE they don't need cops, lol...

Rubber/road, etc:

You see, a Dem doesn't have to ACCOMPLISH anything. It's their good intentions that count...

I love how the kittens "spot" each other.

Let me know how your schedule goes. We could make it Thursday (have to be early afternoon and brief as Laurie works) or Friday (Both off).

Happy Wednesday! Hope you had a very merry Christmas, Bob! RIP Carrie Fisher, George Michael, George S. Irving...et al. Chocolate? Did you say chocolate? I must celebrate!

Chris:
---Chula Vista (been there back in 1978) is just a "burb" of San Diego, really, and is SO close to Mexico that it's possible they get help from the SDPD and border patrol.
It's actually a lot LESS filled with unicorn farts than areas north like L.A.and S.F.)
---Good intentions INDEED...and we both know what the ROAD TO HELL is paved with (which explains much of the 20 miles of "road improvements"in the city each year...LOL)
---Those two are certainly good at "working in concert", which is odd because they were in SEPARATE cages at the ASPCA...heh.
---Friday is good, if it's any time after 11AM.
(I should be up and fairly awake by THEN...lol)
Sounds like a plan.
And we promise to turn you both loose before it gets dark, and the "family" come out.
(shades of the Omega Man...lmao)

Thanks for stopping by to comment today.

Stay safe up there, brother.

---I was a nice Christmas. I am SO gonna make me some of that coffee...(the smell is damn near orgasmic).
The cats made out with more stuff than Wifey and I did, and that's okay. THEY are our gift to one another (the gift that costs to buy food for, and leaves kitty poo in the litter pan...LOL)
---Yeah, been one helluva year for notable people passing away, that's for sure.
---Chocolate candy day - Yes, by all means...you HAVE to celebrate. And no wasting any. It all needs to be EATEN and enjoyed.

Thanks for rolling up and commenting.
(much appreciated).

Stay safe down there, Kiddo.
