Humpday Happenings...
Welcome to the month of MARCH, which, so far, HAS managed to "come in like a lion", albeit a pretty WET lion.
Here at the "Fortress", the weather was not as bad as was predicted, and that's a good thing.
Our Hoosierland weather for today will bring us...RAIN, and partly sunny (?) skies, with temps falling through the day, finally reaching to around 40 degrees. Guess the high is right NOW then (lower 50s?). If that ain't confusing. Could always be worse, right?
Now, you go and get your morning drink (already got my java fix to get me running), and together we shall see what this day (and month) has in store for us, okay?
*** First out of the rain barrel is our "WHO SAID THAT?" quote for the week:
"Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself."
I can't argue with his thoughts on education, and I find this quote very inspirational as well.
 So, WHO said that?
The answer at the top of tomorrow's post.
Meanwhile, back at the International League for Academic Freedom...
*** Next up, it's the "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
MARCH 1 -
---Today is National Dadgum That's Good Day
(what happened to gosh-darn day?)
---It's National Fruit Compote Day
(NEVER to be confused with fruit compost)
---It's National Horse Protection Day
(time to saddle up then, right?)
---It's National Peanut Butter Lover's Day
(gonna have this one covered)
---And, it's National Pig Day
(glad it's not the TWO-legged variety - bacon anyone?)
---It's also ASH WEDNESDAY (the start of Lent).
Since I routinely give up LENT FOR LENT (a shouting Methodist here), it's academic for me.
Getting hungry already, too.
I AM looking forward to some fast-food fish sandwich deals, however...lol.
*** And since this IS the start of a new month, let's see what observances are forthcoming:
Asset Management Awareness Month
National Caffeine Awareness Month
I'm aware I need a REFILL.
National Celery Month
National Cheerleading Safety Month
National Craft Month
National Credit Education Month
National Flour Month
National Frozen Food Month
National Kidney Month
National Noodle Month
National Nutrition Month
National Peanut Month
National Sauce Month
National Trisomy Awareness Month
National Umbrella Month
National Women’s History Month
National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month
National Music in Our Schools Month
National Professional Social Work Month
Okay then, there's plenty to get working with, isn't there. Have fun with it.
*** Next up, time to check out some STUPID going on out there...
---This story proves once again WHY retail and honest redevelopment have no plans to return to our part of town:
http://www.news-sentinel.com/news/local/Fort-Wayne-Police-seek-robber-who-threatened-woman-with-taser
Pretty decent photos of a BLACK man (the majority of criminals down here) who used a taser to rob a woman after she left the store and went to her car.
The perp got into a black Honda Element with a paper (temp) tag.
He's described as being around 30, with a beard.
He was wearing glasses, a gray hooded sweat shirt, jeans and white gym shoes.
How about that...driving a newer SUV and STILL has to rob people for spending money. How stupid can a person get?
(spend some time down here, if you dare...you'll find out REAL soon)
---This story has me wondering what the hell is going on in our statehouse
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/indiana/Senate-approves-pre-K-expansion-17944096
Or NOT!
Expand Pre-K? I think we should do the hell away with it. Plain old kindergarten should work well enough, and the state could save a bundle of money by NOT becoming babysitters at such an early age.
---And if THAT isn't bad enough, state legislators take stupid to even higher levels with this story:
https://indianapublicmedia.org/news/bill-food-stamps-drug-offenders-clears-indiana-senate-115120/
Are you f*cking kidding me?
This has got to be our "WTF???" moment for the week...and it's only Wednesday.
This isn't Gallifrey, BTW.
They already give them fresh syringes, now they want them to get FOOD STAMPS as well?
Why not just give all them a f*cking house...and a car...and how about a boat for the summer at the lakes? Where does such madness end?
This meme says it ALL.
We need some push-back on this before the REST of the camel gets into the tent here.
*** Next up, THIS story should be on the front page, and not buried back on 5A.
Here's the link:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/Vouchers-offer-little-advantage--Study-18024430
So, all that school voucher BS is just that? And what have I said about it taking money from public schools? Wow, right again, Bob.
A study states there is no REAL advantage to the voucher program for students as an educational reform strategy.
Tossing GOOD money after BAD, are we now? It's not like our state and federal governments EVER did anything such as that before, have they? Gimme a break!
((rolls eyes))
What an epiphany, right? Even blind folks saw this coming.
*** Next, I watched some of the president's address to Congress, and the BEST part was seeing ALL those dour, sourpuss faces of the dumbocrats...LOL.
So refreshing to have them sit there and "take it", as well they should for the debacle THEY have created in our nation.
The speech wasn't that bad, and, if nothing else, provided some real hope that things can be turned around and changed for the better, unlike the "manifesto" we've been subjected to for the LAST 8 years.
If you wanted a critique of the speech, FOX was not near as biased, unlike the "doom and gloom" ministers at the lame-stream media (propaganda) stations, that's for sure.
Now, if the walk and match the talk, we might wind up with a nation that will be great...as it should be.
*** Next up, time to stop by "Bobby G's Kitten Wrangling Academy"...
Both Gallifrey and Violet were on their better behaviors yesterday, and I hardly had to chase them away from anything (the counter). None of the clothes hamper or lazy-Susan thing to fret about (for now). Lots of face rubs and lap time for petting.
I will say that eating (for me) is getting fun.
Whenever I have breakfast, and always when I have cereal/oatrmeal, I also have an "audience" waiting to see if I leave any milk at the bottom of the bowl. Well, I gave a little to them once, and they sure picked up on THAT quick enough.
Now, it appears that every meal I have elicits the same response from them - "gotta see what daddy's got - maybe he'll share"
Maybe I will with some foods, but not for all.
*** Last back the rain gutters...I may have missed a few stories today...not a big deal.
There is always plenty of dumbassery out there to keep even the least observant of us busy most days.
And one doesn't necessarily have to cross the globe to find it (although other nations DO have their share of stupid, and it's pretty damn hilarious). I can always find something close by and usually on a daily basis.
I can remember a time when such asinine behavior was a novelty...an aberration to the "human condition", much like a carnival sideshow attraction.
Today, it seems to be S.O.P. (standard operating procedure) for too many people.
Now, if we sat down and made a list of things that we can point to as a cause for such behavior, it would become a long list very quickly.
So, I have to ask WHY do we permit this to occur and thrive?
I thought Americans were better than that in general.
This is one area I dislike being proven wrong, and so should any of you.
But, when we become as permissive as we have, as a society, and to the point of near exhaustion, this type of thing will take place, and on an increasingly tedious level.
Perhaps our nation is due for a proper, purposed "reset", and I hope it's in the best way possible.
We need to get back to what made our country stand apart from others, and what makes each of us better people because of who we can still become...if we so choose.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

"Here at the "Fortress", the weather was not as bad as was predicted..." You mean that wasn't YOUR trampoline up in a tree I just saw on Greg Shoup's Twitter? lol...

Agree on the quote.

Dadgum day? There really is one for everything...

"I'm aware I need a REFILL." Copy that!

Honestly, I HAVE seen a cheerleader break an elbow back in the day... but they need a whole MONTH for safety?

"How about that...driving a newer SUV and STILL has to rob people for spending money. How stupid can a person get?" Hey, the welfare check goes to drugs and booze- somethings got to pick up the car payment!

Food stamp bill. Yeah, enable them more. Ask any expert, that ALWAYS works...

CBS and Pelley in particular practically gushed over the speech in the post-mortems... NPR the same this morning. As a result, the Dem's own postgame got a big dose of ignore. Common sense wins one, at least.

Scrappy is to the point that if one of us finishes a snack, he looks at the other as if, "Why aren't YOU getting something too?" Wait for it.

Hey, you still have hope- the big news is the comments section of my post from last night, lol...

---Trampoline in a tree???
Nah, not mine. The only risk I take is living down among the vermin (who moved all around us, mind you)...lol.
---Another "newbie" with a semi-checkered life...you'll like this.
---Dadgum? I prefer Beemans or Trident.
---It's better when used with medicinal purpose spirits, too.
---Apparently they DO need a month (Lord knows what'll happen the other eleven).
---Amazing how WE know where the welfare checks go, and we're not even ON them.
---Politicians = enablers. Yep, easy equation to balance, AND at the taxpayers' expense.
---Yeah, the drive-bys had a real circle-jerk crying the blues...ROFL. Loved every minute of it.
---Seems it was always easier to get a pet dog to "stay" until a meal was done, unlike cats and their "we just wanna eat WITH you...at the SAME time, at the SAME plate.". Good Lord, they task me.
---When all else fails, there is ALWAYS HOPE
(I even hear it floats...heh)

Thanks for stopping by early today to comment.

Stay safe (and mud-free) up there, brother.

So... how are you supposed to celebrate National Dadgum That's Good Day? Judging by that picture, I'm supposed to give the camera a cheesy smile and flash a quick thumbs up?

I have yet to watch the President's speech, but I did read a few of the lamestream media's 'fact checking reports' on it (for a laugh), in which they accused him of making up pretty much every single thing he said and didn't acknowledge one thing he said as truth. Yeah, I'm sure that happened. Just like Sweden's all sunshine and rainbows, right?

---I like your take on it...I'd be shouting "DADGUM, THAT'S GOOD". Your method is more reserved.
(gotta have that cheesy smile)
---Trump said a lot of what the LEFT didn't choose to hear...it's called the TRUTH.
They might want to try that once in a while...I hear it could become habit-forming (in a good way, mind you).
But the dumbocrats DO tend to suffer from "selective hearing". (among other such traits).
Didn't Sweden state that they also had UNICORNS?

Thanks for dropping by & commenting.
Much appreciated.

Stay safe (and dadgum it, classy as well) out there, guys.

---I've been to my share of "high" masses (having dated a few Catholics several lifetimes ago)...they are beautiful. Love the incense and the music, especially the choral singing. And to see it in a REAL cathedral is fantastic.
---Where we live (SE) the weather was blustery, I'll give you that, but I wasn't heading for the basement.
If you were out in it, I could see where it would be nastier than if you stayed indoors.
I was also glad to see it snow...it's a LOT quieter...lol.

Thanks for taking time to stop by and comment.
It's much appreciated.

You take care & stay safe out there.
