Humpday Happenings...
So, yesterday was "tax day"...that's a laugh.
Where we live, EVERY day taxes you...in more ways than the monetary one ...LOL.
Still, it is the middle of the week, and time to get over that hump, right?
Our Hoosierland weather for today finds us with cloudy skies, temps reaching into the mid 70s (again) and a good chance of rain throughout the day (so they are saying).
Let's get the day off to a good start with a nice refreshing drink to calm our nerves (because you KNOW we'll need it before day's end), shall we?
*** First out of the coffee cup is our WHO SAID THAT? quote of the week:
"Time and space - time to be alone, space to move about - these may well become the great scarcities of tomorrow."
A very good quote by another "newbie" here.
And by the way this old world is turning, such may come true a lot sooner than we might realize.
So, WHO said that? The answer at the top of tomorrow's post.
Meanwhile, back at the Popular Science magazine collection...
*** Next up, time for the "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
APRIL 19 -
---It's National Amaretto Day
(Make mine Patrician brand, and it DOES do quite well in coffee)
---It's National Garlic Day
(can find any takers of the vampire persuasion here)
---It's National Hanging Out Day
(good thing it's a laundry gig, because we already have TOO many loiterers about)
---It's National Oklahoma City Bombing Commemoration Day
(Damn shame we could only execute McVeigh once)
--- I think it's time we take a brief look at some of the stupid that's been going on...
What? You thought we had a day off from this?
I wish that were true.
*** Next, if there is any evidence to be found for a new and potential civil war going on behind the scenes in America, this story seems to leave little doubt:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/us/20170419/killing-spree-based-on-race
Yeah, it's people just like this who will further incite racial tensions by doing what he did, namely killing three white men for no other reason then the fact that he WANTED to go out and kill white men. The three victims, just walking in Fresno (one actually sitting in a utility company truck) were murdered straight away.
And the local police chief THERE called it for what it was - shootings based on RACE.
((Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer said Kori Ali Muhammad, 39, was motivated by hate and was not connected to extremism, even though he said “Allahu akbar” during his arrest.
“This is solely based on race, and it had nothing to do with terrorism in spite of the statement he made,” Dyer said at a news conference.))
And it only took less than two minutes for the murders. He's also wanted for another shooting the previous week.
See, this is the kind of stuff that happens when black Muslims in America take to the streets, and for no other reason than the fact that they are following the "teachings" of Calypso Louie (Farrakhan) who calls white men the DEVIL.
And to think we have similar people roaming about our streets, also looking for the right opportunity.
This isn't a scare tactic designed to polarize the races, it's just a warning to our country that we already have very dangerous people among us, waiting...
*** Next, there are some who try OTHER things to get attention, like in this story:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/police-fire/20170419/man-accused-of-arson-held
Well, that's ONE less arsonist off the SE side streets.
Roderick Trotter, 52, of the 3500 block of Winter Street is the firebug here, and according to court docs, "I don't give a (expletive) who's in the house. I'm burning it down",
(any bets that he's most likely black?)
Now, there is such a thing as "urban renewal", but HIS particular method isn't considered practical, simply from a public SAFETY standpoint. Yes, you get ALL kinds of stupid down here.
*** This story, written by Kevin Leininger, proves that many of those at City Hall are basically clueless as to what REALLY goes on down here in the crotch of our fair city:
http://www.news-sentinel.com/news/local/20170418/bigger_economic_political_issues_fuel_south-side_gas_station_debate&profile=1008
Thankfully, Allen County Councilwoman Sharon Tucker "gets it", and knows the REAL score down here.
(I typically don't agree with democrats, but right IS right)
And, as Kevin puts it: "Just because you want to attract a business doesn't mean it's going to come. The deal has to make financial sense." So, as long as you still have the level of crime down here, it will continue to NOT MAKE ANY SENSE to develop, right? Let's also not forget that the Menards and Wal-Mart down here at the former Southtown Mall location ((opened with the help of government incentives, which indicates opponents of convenience stores should spend more time building an economic case for doing business on the southeast side and less time on talks of boycotts and other quasi-political tactics that have done little to build the southeast side's economic base over the past several decades.))
"Gimme an F..."
Kevin continues: ((Tucker may be right that southeast-side crime receives unequal media attention, but the opposition to gas stations as a potential source of crime indicates the issue is not entirely media-driven. The Casselwood Save-a-Lot, after all, replaced the Tom's SuperValu that had closed in 1998 after being robbed five times in just two years.))
I rest MY case also...
*** Next up, let's stop on by "Kitten Corner" and see who's napping...
Gallifrey has HIS perch...
Yeah, the kids were in fine form...eating, playing, snoozing, and then repeating things as needed.
Every evening, I get visited by both of them, who come into the living room just be around daddy.
Violet has HER perch.
Wifey gets her time as well, so they don't favor either one of us, just BOTH of us...that's nice.
*** Last back to the sugar bowl (NOT the football event)...times these days seem to be more perilous for the average citizen than we might realize.
WHY does all this seem SO familiar?
Back when I was (a lot) younger, the chance of being randomly targeted by some radical hater of whites was a LOT lower, and that was during a more turbulent racial era in this country. Cripes, there were times you could shop downtown (in Philly) well after dark and not be bothered by anyone. Even the vagrants left you alone.
Today, all you have to do is be alive on a city street to have your life taken by some idiot with a chip on his shoulder the size of a damn giant sequoia. Somehow, that doesn't make me feel any safer, or even as safe as I once felt.
Some would say "that won't happen to you or me"...don't be so sure. Nothing in life is guaranteed, except for death and taxes (like Dad always used to say).
Sure, there are bad people of EVERY race, and too many of them ARE on our streets, but we can't give into their lunatic manifestos, can we? Still, we DO need to be more on guard than perhaps we ever have been in the past.
And please, let's NOT asses blame to the educational system for these aberrant assholes with homicide (or other forms of violence) on their mind...
That didn't fail them one bit, nor did whatever problems they may have had growing up, because many before them have overcome such obstacles to become productive citizens...these violent people failed THEMSELVES (and society) as human beings...period.
That you can make book on, for it's true.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

I think we're already at that quote-point...

Both the "stupid" stories continue my opinion above. At a certain point, even God has to admit we're wasting our time here...

On the convenience store thing- how many do you have to have before you realize it's ALL you're giving these people? That's not opportunity, that's codependency.

"...these violent people failed THEMSELVES (and society) as human beings...period." Exactly.

Just not a happy day's news today, is it? Hopefully a nice t-storm tonight will wash some of this garbage away and make us feel better tomorrow.

Chris:
---Yeah, that person must have been prophetic as well.
---I don't mind stupid AS A DIVERSION from the normalcy on this planet, but when it becomes a CHRONIC condition with mankind, you REALLY have to wonder.
---I said as much YEARS ago, and finally (now) someone else thinks it's NOT what is needed down here.
Crime has got to go FIRST...anything less than that from a retail OR service standpoint is exactly what you said - CODEPENDENCY...a symbiotic relationship between crime and convenience stores.
---I do pride myself on being as correct as possible as often as I can...heh.
---Funny you mention that...EVERY time a T-Storm comes through, I think of TAXI DRIVER":
"Some day a REAL rain will come and wash all the scum off the streets".

Hey, thanks much for stopping on by today to comment.

Stay safe (and relatively dry) up there, brother.
