Tuesday Tidbits...
Yesterday's weather wasn't too bad, and today promises a bit more of the same.
The lack of humidity goes a long way to make even warm days more comfortable,Don't expect it to last that long, because we've still a good amount of summer left.
Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us mostly sunny skies, temps climbing to around 81 degrees, and no immediate sign of rain in the forecast. All in all, not bad...could always be worse.
So, what say we get the day started with a refreshing drink, and something to smile about, as we see what else has been going on, hmm?
*** First out of the cupboard is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
JULY 25 -
---It's National Hire A Veteran Day
(sounds like a very good idea to me)
---It's National Hot Fudge Sundae Day
(now THAT is a dessert and a half)
---It's National Merry-Go-Round Day
(we're talking the carousel thing and NOT any form of politicking)
---It's National Thread the Needle Day
(not just applicable to sewing, is it?)
*** Next up, and since it's a Tuesday, let's see what the local morons have been up to with ALL the FWPD calls we were not told about by the media...

==============================
Nice to know we STILL have some dipshits out there illegally playing with foreworks.
*** Next up, another person shot, this time at a local Burger King right after closing. Here's the story:
http://wane.com/2017/07/25/what-we-know-burger-king-employee-shot-critically-hurt-in-attempted-robbery/
You want fries with that?
YOu want fried with that? This took place around 0100 hrs at the BK located in the 300 block of East Jefferson Blvd.
((Police at the scene told NewsChannel 15 overnight, the shooting appeared to be the result of an attempted armed robbery. The intended victims were employees of the business who got in a car together after leaving the restaurant. The store closes at midnight.))
The suspect fired at the car, which drove to hospital.
No suspect information was available.
*** Next, seems one person already in custody is part of another crime. Here's the story:
http://www.wpta21.com/story/35958875/suspect-arrested-in-werling-dr-shoot-out-is-linked-to-high-profile-homicide-at-strip-club
LOSER!
LOSER!Yes, good old James Ellis Starks, III had something to do with the shooting (homicide) a couple months ago (that story was posted here on 10 April)
((Starks is considered a person of interest in a deadly shooting spree in April at the Bleu Diamond Strip Club in Fort Wayne, where 22-year old Marcus Rogan died and three others were badly wounded.
In the new case, Starks is being held on $255,000 bond.
Starks has not been charged in the Bleu Diamond strip club shooting incident.))
Well, it's a good start to such bad trash, isn't it?
*** Next up, fellow blogger Momma Fargo had a really good article concerning superhero syndrome where it pertains to law-enforcement.
Here's the column she wrote, and it's worth a read:
https://www.lawenforcementtoday.com/superhero-syndrome/
*** Next, a couple Letters to the Editor (of the J-G):
Relocation of refugees an inefficient solution
I agree with Tim Tiernon's assertion (Letters, July 9) that the intent of international refugee law is to provide temporary shelter for those affected. That's about where our agreement on the subject ends.
Tiernon applauds Fort Wayne for accepting 7,000 refugees. That decision is actually a heartless one. Here's why. Relocation is the least cost-effective means of caring for refugees. The average five-year cost for relocating a refugee from the Mideast to the United States is $64,370. By contrast, the UN High Commission on Refugees requests only about $1,057 annually to assist Syrian refugees in neighboring countries. For what it costs to relocate one refugee to the United States, the UNHCR can assist 12 refugees in the region.
Relocating refugees to the United States is akin to coming across a dozen starving people. You have enough money to feed all 12, but instead you pluck one lucky guy and take him to Eddie Merlot's for dinner, leaving the rest to go hungry. Then, after dinner, you display your moral superiority by posting a picture to Facebook and telling all of your friends how you saved a hungry man by treating him to a steak dinner. Of course, you do not mention the 11 others you left to go hungry.
Then there's Tiernon's assertion that “The United States is responsible for creating a large percentage of the world's war refugees...” That assertion is just plain false. Why would any refugee seek refuge in the country responsible for his displacement in the first place? That makes no sense. After the Nanking massacre, were Chinese refugees seeking refuge in Japan?
The greatest number of refugees over the last three years have originated from Syria. That country is run by a lunatic dictator, Bashar al Assad. Assad has gassed and persecuted those who oppose him. Assad is responsible for Syria's refugees – not the United States.
Here's an inconvenient truth: The top five ongoing wars responsible for contributing the overwhelming percentage of the world's refugees all involve radical Islam.

Fort Wayne
Yepper...Doug "gets it".
Scammed again on taxes
Well, folks, our elected officials have scammed us once again. When the gas tax hike was being discussed, most of us thought the money was all going to bridges, roads, etc. We thought we would get relief from the lousy roads and went along. Now, an article comes out in the newspaper stating that a provision in the bill allows shifting funds to health care, education and child services if necessary. Welcome to scamsville!

Leo-Cedarville
Bill also "gets it"...I just wish that source article was mentioned. I'm still looking for it.
*** Next up, time to stop by "Kitten Corner"...
What can you say when nap time takes center stage?
Or when cuteness becomes "job-one"?
Such a life,,,none of the human drama or violence.
Gotta admire that.
*** Next up, let's visit "Midnight and Company"...
Whiskers is definitely liking the food provided by caring people.
And this cat has a cute "meow"...higher pitched than Midnight.
Speaking of which, our other furry buddy was like clockwork again. He does take to wandering off now and then, but always come back for (what else) free grub...heh.
Funny thing, neither of these cats play with one another...they're just like "best buds" or something, hanging out together.
*** Last back to the pantry...I'd love to know why people make life difficult.
I've spoken about life already being complex enough (here) many times, but there are those out there who prefer to create such difficulties in their lives...and to what end?
Such things rarely if ever, pan out well.
This isn't to say that the EASY way out is the best...that's for slackers.
That easy way is for those with their hands out for every freebie people can think up.
Striking a balance between that which is difficult and that which is not AS difficult if the key here.
The average difficulties we all encounter help us in many ways. They're learning experiences, and they teach patience, persistence, with a willingness and determination to see things through to the end.
Too many people these days seek the easy road and make their lives MORE difficult as a result.
Not a good "return for an investment", is it?
They should invest more WISELY, perhaps?
I feel we all the potential to realize the truth behind how we handle life, it's just that some prefer to squander such potential, which will invariably lead to lost opportunities.
We should want and expect more from ourselves.
And by doing so, we can better help others.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

I hate to tell you, but this Tuesday didn't sneak up- it came up and started bludgeoning everything in its path, and hasn't stopped....

I used to know a couple of girls from Wenonah Lane... you wouldn't have heard a shot back then...

Knew one on Taber, too. Helped her get the h out of there....

Good MF post. "My butt hurts." LOL!

I'm guessing Tim Tiernon is a dumbass... just sayin'.

Ummm... didn't they talk about the way the money was gonna get shifted BEFORE the tax passed? It might have been those in the know talking on FB, I guess...

Whiskers looking a bit stern. Did you piss him off?

I can tell you from today's experience that sentiments like your closing are going in one ear and out the other at frightening speed in this world....

Chris:
---But, don'cha think it had to somewhat "sneak up" in ORDER to bludgeon the heck outta everything (and everyone) in it's path? It had a whole week to do the sneaking...heh.
---And that's why those times were better (imho)...lots less stupidity with firearms.
---Yeah, I have to admit that her writing's gotta kinda poetry to it.
---Could well be...this city DOES have it's share (present company excluded, of course).
---The thing I noticed was that ALL the "shiftiness" (good choice of words there, huh?) in those PROVISIONS might well have been mentioned beforehand (in that very small print that was mumbled quickly and never repeated)...lol.
People gotta pay attention.
---Not so much "stern"...I like to think "austere"...HA!
(with cats you can't be sure)
---Have to agree with you...but still, it never hurts to repeat it...in case SOMEONE has major ear wax and the words can't get completely away.
(there's always hope, right?)

Hey, thanks for rolling by today to comment.

Stay safe (and well-hydrated) up there, brother.
