Tuesday Tidbits...

We hear tell that today is "supposed" to be the last hot day for the week (and hopefully, for the season.
I mean I like Indian Summer as much as the next person, but let's ease up on this.
Funny thing about weather...with all the tech in place, all we've managed to do is warn people a bit sooner when their lives will be changed forever. Be nice to better manipulate conditions as easily as some people can be manipulated., and with accuracy that would rain where it's needed, divert or dispel hurricanes and tornadoes, or even be able to aid farmers rather than watch crops drown or wilt.

Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us mostly sunny skies, temps climbing to around 88 degrees and no sign of rain.
I think we can muddle through for one more day.
So, let's get that refreshing drink poured, as we look to the day and what's been going on...

*** Next up, okay, so according to last year's crime stats, the FBI tells us that crime is still going down (coulda fooled me), as it has been for the last 15 years...so they say, and yet they admit that VIOLENT CRIME is UP...imagine that.

A very telling tale and yet, one which we can easily find the source OF the violence...the minority community.

This lawless streak they seem to want to embrace is growing, and anyone who thinks poverty is at the root of this is sadly mistaken. Much of the problem lies with skewed priorities.
*** Next up, time to look at a letter to the editor (J-G) that, if you didn't know better, could have been written by yours truly. Here it is verbatim:

Misguided focus harming city, county residents
What good is economic development if we as a city keep accepting year after year death tolls of 25 or more?
Why is Fort Wayne and Allen County leadership so laser-focused on economic development when we are losing the war on drugs, gangs and opioid addiction? 
Why is City Council so focused on economic development when the neighborhoods are being overrun with drug houses and gangsters? 
When will the focus of our leadership, from the mayor to City Council, return to the safety of all citizens instead of focusing on economic development of downtown? 
The propaganda of quality of place and quality of life have been said over and over so the unwashed masses will start to believe that is the true agenda, but it's only downtown. 
Greater Fort Wayne's sales pitch for investment of taxpayer dollars in downtown is more propaganda and only meant to advance GFW's agenda.
When will the focus of our Allen County Commissioners and Allen County Council be on the taxpayers and county neighborhoods that need their help in combating the drugs and gangs instead of building a downtown for the elites and big-money buddies? 
GFW doesn't care or want to know about the plight of the neighborhoods or for that matter anything that isn't about enrichment of their transformational downtown buddies.

The kids got a bit crazy at late morning for some reason, but after a few "harsh words" they calmed back down.
In some ways, I miss having older cats...lol.

Still, the energy they display on a daily basis is something I have missed for years. I just wish they'd devote more of it to playing with all the TOYS they have, and not chasing each other about the house.

Well, our furry twosome spent MOST fo the day near the house, but Midnight just has to patrol the area (something that used to be the realm of our FWPD officers...heh).

He only missed the "last call" around 1930 hrs. Whiskers was there and got her food.
Don't worry, he came back for his morning chow today...so all is well once again.
*** Last back to the basement...Chris Martin had a really good post yesterday (as many of his usually are) about the whole "knee" thing and how this, as well as much of our modern problems in society stem from a general lack of respect.

Gotta agree 100% there. Every day, you can find evidence of the truth to that.
The worst part, is that it's (now) becoming generational in nature. From little on up, we're seeing the lack of respect of anything or anyone. Students against teachers, children against parents, teens against everyone, adults against police...you get the idea. And that's only the person-to-person aspect of this. A lack of respect for our president, our flag, our national anthem wants to hearken back to the lack of respect of our troops when they cam home from the 'Nam.

Last night's Ken Burns episode of The Vietnam War showed the rioting in America (anti-war, civil rights...you name it), and it was almost like looking at the news of today, with a few exceptions (police acting tougher against protesters, no body armor or riot shields).
Today, people protest because they can...to hell with reason or context...that doesn't matter. God forbid if a white policeman shoots a person after the commission of a crime, o happens to be of another ethnicity. That means rioting, looting, and other typical reactionary mayhem

Because THIS works!

We DO have a problem with our KNEES in America these days; too many people are either going down on ONE of them (in protest), or are jerking them without thought to any consequences or meaning as to WHY they're doing it.
It's like I said yesterday...if they want to properly use their knees, maybe they should get down on BOTH of them, praying for a better tomorrow, and learning what respect REALLY means.
