Tuesday Tidbits...
Well, I can think of about a couple hundred OTHER (and better) ways to start a week or month, than what took place yesterday...how about you? I'm trying to take this all in and I'm sure that prayer lists around the country just got a lot longer as a result of what took place in Vegas. The world HAS indeed gotten even stranger than I care to remember.
Our Hoosierland weather for today bring us partly to mostly cloudy skies, temps reaching up to around 82 degrees, (crank on the A/C again) and that rain is on it's way (perhaps tomorrow).
So what say we all take a deep breath, and get that cup of coffee, tea, or cocoa (or maybe a tall glass of juice) to steel ourselves to whatever will be coming our way this day, ss we see what else has been going on, shall we?
*** First off of the driveway is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
OCTOBER 3 -
---it's National Boyfriend Day
(this sure doesn't apply to ME)
---It's National Techies Day
(makes me wish they built things that LASTED...like they used to)
*** Next up, and since it's IS a Tuesday,. let's take a peek at the (important) FWPD calls that went out last week, but were ignored by the media (because they were busy with what our president tweeted to anyone)...

FIREWORKS CALLS - SEP 25 - OCT 1
NONE!!!
Well, that's a miracle, isn't it?
*** Next, rocker Tom Petty has passed away at the age of 66 (a year older than me).
Here's the story:
https://www.theguardian.com/music/2017/oct/02/rock-star-tom-petty-dies-heart-attack
Now, while I can't say I was ever a fan of, and never attended any concert of his, he DID have a couple songs I really liked, such as Won't Back Down and Runnin' Down a Dream.
It appeared that he suffered a major coronary at his Malibu home, and after being taken to hospital, was placed on life-support. The family later chose to pull the plug.
*** Next up, what happened in Vegas will not stay in Vegas any longer. here's the story:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/us/20171003/psychopath-kills-59-at-vegas-festival
This is now the worst mass shooting in America...not exactly something we should be noted for, is it?
And yet, the leftards come out from under their rocks and decry the NRA (almost immediately).
The killer had modified his rifles to fire FULL-auto, and that's illegal as hell, so the NRA has nothing to do with this.
As to why this took place...we may never find out, as the killer is dead, and to me, it doesn't matter if it was by police or by his own hand.
What does matter is how people like this just seem to snap, and go postal.
We don't need any MORE laws or regulations...just a manner to properly enforce the ones we already have.
We also need to call this what it was...domestic terrorism.
*** Next, our own police department is taking on 7 new officers. Here's the story:
http://wane.com/2017/10/02/fwpd-adds-7-lateral-officers/
Five officers come from Indiana departments and two others transferred from Fayetteville, North Carolina, and Dekalb County, Georgia, respectively,
That sure makes any training required a lot more abbreviated, and they should be hitting our streets a lot sooner. Hope they "enjoy" the perps they're going to meet.
*** Next up, it looks like the TV in our living room is trying it's best to give up the ghost.
From the familiar...
It's bad enough the brightness control is shot (all the way off and still too light), but yesterday, the color went from "normal" to hues of greens and purples (oh...joy).
The means a possible trip to Wal-Mart for one of those LED flat-screens, unless I can find ANYONE in this stinking city (2nd largest in the state) who can STILL repair the (now obsolete) CRT televisions.
This Mitsubishi 20" stereo set was given to me as a gift, and had external speaker availability, which I love (and use).
It also had great color and picture resolution - not bad for a set near as old as my car (30+ years).
To the unknown...
In some ways, it's (again) like losing an old friend. Getting tired of feeling that feeling
Now, I suppose I'l have to figure out how the hell to rig any "new" set in an attempt to recreate the setup I have now. I hear the new sets are good, but why did we have to even change the manner that we view television today?
I'm kinda picky when it comes to personal audio and video...I like what works and stays working...period.
*** Next, time to drop by "Kitten Corner"...
Our kids got a bit rammy-assed early on, but burned themselves out soon enough, and that means nap time.
Guess that's one good thing to youthful cats...they never stay crazy for long.
But, they do like to follow you around the house...guess that's in case you get lost?
*** Next up, let's see what's going on with "Midnight and Company"...
Have to say that with the recent cooler weather, they BOTH have hung out close to the house, and you'll not hear me complain about that at all. Neither of them missed a meal yesterday.
And when you open the door in the early morning hours, there they both are...waiting for their breakfast.
It won;t be long before Wifey and I start making a proper shelter for them as the cold weather approaches.
That should be fun...I hope.
*** Last back to the garage...Every day there's proof this world is going the wrong damn way.
And the really SAD part to this, is that people in America don't have to go far to notice it; it's often in "our own back yard", as it were.
If anything, we (here) should be the last bastion of reason and sanity, but I'm finding less of that occurring.
What the hell ever happened to those "good old days", anyway?
I miss NOT having to read or hear about mass shootings, or terrorism, or global strife.
I miss NOT having to be forced to buy new stuff, because no one cares to fix the old stuff.
I miss living a relatively normal life, and as I get older, that's pretty much my focus - NORMALCY.
I know I can't be alone here, either.
We all need to get the train back on the right damn track, lest we wind up in even a more precarious position than we currently find ourselves.
The future we're looking at might be portrayed as being something we can look forward to, but, given the current state of affairs (globally as well as domestically), even those rose-tinted glasses aren't helping all that much...are they?
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

You can see my post on Petty now. Still blurry from writing it...

I told Laurie that gun control as constituted now will never help. One thought I threw out there- and admittedly this idea is unconstitutional, unfair, and might not be a lot better_ but here it is. A felony is committed with a gun you sold directly to the felon? Fine, fine, suspension of selling privaleges, and ban. Whether you are Joe Schmoe at the gun show or Wal Mart. Something like Vegas? You are banned permanently. Shops will close, others will jack prices sky-high for the risk, and even the black market won't be able to make a profit. Kill the damn thing at the supply end. Again, not promoting this, not suggesting it's remotely doable, but I think its the only real way to control guns.

Have I gone gun-control? No, but the common theme in the gun fight, the abortion fight, and the Obamacare fight, is that you have those on each end that won't settle for anything but all or nothing. It's time to stop the nonsense when necessary.

You think not being able to get the CRT fixed sucks, wait'll you have that flat screen for a while and an IC chip fries with a loud pop. Our first one did it so much after about 4 years that Scrappy would get scared and go upstairs. One we got now hasn't done any, so mqaybe it was just Off-Brand Syndrome.

Chris:
---Had a feeling you could better justice to Tom petty. Good for you.
---I can think of NO LAW that can be written which will eliminate ALL situations like Vegas. And to change the Constitution to make it harder for the RIGHT people to own firearms serves no one except the bad guys.
---Your idea would serve to punish people who have NO IDEA what purpose any firearm being sold would be used for. But it would stop some of the problem.
Closing shops that sell NUMEROUS firearms used in felonious activity IS a good start, however.
I think they did that to some guy in Illinois who sold guns to gang members The law is getting better at catching the bad folks, and that's why the black market is SO damn active.
Gonna be hard to stop thefts and such, too.
Hey, maybe if we start SHOOTING the bad guys, rather than arrest them, we'd make a dent in all the crime?
(novel idea time, I know)
---What we honestly NEED to do (and this is dangerous ground here) is to control the BAD PEOPLE. But, with any decent thought, there can be abuses and mistakes made.
---The left wants fewer guns (that are used in crimes).
I want fewer (of the wrong) people ABLE to get guns to commit crime, but I still want the 2nd Amendment intact, like the rest of the Constitution. Hope that makes sense.
---Gee, thanks for the wonderful things I may have to look forward to with technology...LOL.
---Truth be told, the OLD tube-sets were great. You had a problem, YOU could change the bad tube out and you're back in business. If they were cable-ready, you could STILL watch 'em!
I still miss those days...a lot.

Thanks much for stopping on by today to comment.

Stay safe (and get the umbrella ready) up there, brother..
