Friday Follies...
Okay, so it appears we might get a break from the rain - drizzle - dampness...for ONE stinking day.
Yep, more rain coming by tomorrow...don'cha just love Indiana?
But, it's the end of the week, and hopefully, we can set most of the strife aside for a bit, right?
Our Hoosierland weather for today will bring us partly sunny skies (for a change), temps reaching to around 49 degrees (not too bad, either), and hopefully, less windy conditions.
So, let's use this time to go get ourselves a nice hot cup of coffee, tea, or cocoa, as we settle back and take a look at what's going on elsewhere...
*** First off of the comfy chair is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
NOVEMBER 17 -
---It's National Baklava Day
(I miss that tiny shop in Philly that made excellent foods like this)
---It's National Homemade Bread Day
(Mom would make everything BUT bread...dunno why)
---It's National Take a Hike Day
(I often will tell any and all neighbors to do this on a regular basis)
*** Next, since we have arrived at week's end, let's see what we can observe over the following 48 hours...
NOVEMBER 18 -
---Saturday is Mickey Mouse's Birthday
(amazing how 2 dimensional characters never age)
---It's National Adoption Day
(not a single thing wrong with this at all)
---It's National Princess Day
(wonder how the LGBTQ crowd handles THIS one?)
---It's National Vichyssoise Day
(if just French fish soup, folks)
NOVEMBER 19 -
---Sunday is National Carbonated Beverage With Caffeine Day
(which would be most sodas, so drink up)
---It's National Play Monopoly Day
(I think our mayor and his cabal have this one covered)
And there we are then...plenty to do, and always remember to observe responsibly.
*** Next up, looks like the AMISH will inherit the earth (thank God for that, I suppose)...maybe that will give them plenty of time to get some SCRAPPLE here in Fort Wayne.
Here's the lowdown:
https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2017/11/171115152727.htm
Yeah, living longer through better living (and a moral code of ethics)...who'da thunk that, Methuselah?
Well, gene mutation helps, too.
*** Next, somehow, seeing a LIBERAL like Al Franken being raked over the coals always makes me smile. Here's the story:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/politics/20171117/franken-apologizes-for-groping-woman
Now, first off, I think Leeann Tweeden is HOT...and that goes back to when she was on the old Fitness Beach show. (Hey, I might be married, but I'm not blind or dead...yet LOL.)
But, I would never for the life of me think about actually groping her or shoving my tongue down here throat (without her expressed written consent...in triplicate..after all, she IS married and has children - hubby's ex-military to boot).
Normal people do NOT like you.
I think not, Stuart Smalley. An ethics panel has your name on it.
Sorry, but I never thought Franken was funny...even way back when he was part of a comedy duo with Tom Davis (Franken and Davis, obviously). The Smothers Brothers wer funny - Martin and Lewis were funny...Stiller and Meara were funny...Burns and Allen were Funny...Abbott and Costello were funny...Laurel and Hardy were downright hilarious...
(you get the idea)
Always seems that the DEMS get the proverbial "wrist-slap" while anyone the least bit right-of-center gets taken on a ride down the Spanish Inquisition Blvd...for months!
Time to call them ALL out, especially the liberal perverts...for a damn change.
*** Next up, and speaking of liberals, our "king" (mayor Henry) has a setback of sorts. Here's the lowdown:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/20171117/city-razes-downtown-arena-plan
That downtown arena proposal that was being floated appears to have gone down like the Andrea Doria...for the time being. And King Gyros is saved...score one for us!
At least our monarch didn't use BOTH of his boring catch-phrases.
He only mentioned "point-of-destination" once...guess there's no quality-of-life attached to this white elephant.
Well, when you have SO many pokers in the damn fire (nineteen projects at last count), something HAS to give.(and something has to just go away).
"We are not amused"
Welcome to Reality 101, your highness...like the song goes:
"you can't always get what you want".
*** Next, it seems to be THAT time of year once again (no, not the holiday season)...
I'm talking about the season where people (usually DUI) start crashing vehicles into houses.
Here's the story:
http://wane.com/2017/11/17/suspected-drunk-driver-slams-into-parked-car-house-on-spring-street/
This took place around 0345 hrs at the intersection of Runnion and Spring Sts.
(yes, that car used to be a Ford Taurus)
The drunk driver had to be speeding, as he traveled 50 feet sideways after smacking into a parked car, taking down a street sign and went up a small hill into the house in the picture.
Helluva way to wake up, I must say.
Luckily, house damage is minimal because the car struck the concrete foundation (slab) of the porch.
Any bets that the driver is "released on his/her own recognizance?
*** Next up, some people travel to Paris for the sights. This story talks about other "parasites":
http://wane.com/2017/11/16/assortment-of-pot-and-pot-products-found-at-north-side-home/
This latest drug raid took place at a house located at 3705 Shadow Creek Drive (not a bad-looking area) Monday afternoon, and after serving a search warrant, police found 6 pounds of what was described as high grade marijuana, 18.2 pounds edible marijuana gummies, e-cigarette vials containing hash oil, pot infused honey, marijuana wax, marijuana candies and chocolates, assorted paraphernalia and several guns.
Sure doesn't seem like any sort of "casual usage" going on here.
A person showed up at the house and was also arrested (somehow, seeing police at a house would tend to make me think twice about making a score at that residence).
Yes friends, more of that special kind of stupid going on, and not always on the SOUTH side of Ft. Wayne.
*** And here's a link to a couple other noteworthy crimes in our fair city:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/police-fire/20171117/suspect-held-after-man-knocked-out
Looks like  Derrick Denzel Fields, 25, of the 1600 block of East Creighton Avenue, wanted to bring back that "knockout" game where people get punched in the head for no reason.
He was arrested by an off-duty officer working security at the Break and Run on Goshen Avenue.
---The other story is about another drug deal that nets two arrests.
Clarissa Elder, 40, and Jeremy Elder Jr., 20, were arrested after police got a search warrant for a house located at 2608 Dodge Ave.
Police cut Jeremy loose (nice head tatts, moron), but kept Clarissa in lieu of (only) $2,500 bail.
That must be the going rate for low level drug dealers in this city.
*** Next, time to take a stop at "Kitten Corner"...
Our cats are getting into a winter-mode, and that means they get to sleep with us at night. That's not a bad deal all around, as far as I'm concerned.
I missed not having Penny or Rassie (or both) climbing up and snuggling during the colder months. Violet and Gallifrey are learning the ropes quite well for being as young as they are.
*** Next up, time to do our check in with "Midnight and Company"...
The furry duo were at the patio door once again, and Whiskers likes to stretch on the screen.
Once in a while, Midnight will do that, but he prefers to sit quietly at the base of the steps and stare at you...lol.
He's bit more on the stoic side, while she's the effervescent one.
Getting them used to STAYING near the house is what we're striving for, and so far...so good.
Sure beats having them dodge traffic in bad (and colder) weather around the area.
*** Last back to the family room sofa...you all (should) know I'm a simple man with simple pleasures.
Didn't always used to be that way, but with age comes wisdom, and we get wisdom through knowledge, and knowledge through foolishness, so there you go then.
Taking care of what we have and following the basic laws of mankind (as well as federal, state and local laws)are the tenets of good citizenship (to me). Many of us take such things for granted, or ignore them outright.
And some people exist just to find ways around the laws. These are people who want to make their lives even MORE complex than they already are (and why, I have no idea).
Now, I don't mind having to struggle when it's warranted, because the end result is a better me and a better situation, but to actively seek more struggles on top of the ones you're not even addressing is just asking (more like pleading) for trouble to come your way (which it will).
I'd much prefer to deal with things as they come, cross bridges when I get to them, and be wise enough to choose MY own battles to fight. And, having some guidance and advice from above never hurts either, does it?
Therein lies an important lesson.
Do have yourselves a good weekend.
Be well, make a difference to someone today, and as always...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Well, 2D does mean that 2 dimensions from our world are gone, and one is time...

Princess Day: The guys dress up...

I agree on Franken. Hopefully the "Great Game" now switches to Congress, and he and Bill O'Neill get to lead the parade.

King Gyros saved... another summer of using their lot for parking while we stumble over to the nearby Irish pub, lol...

Sounds more like the driver will be availing themselves of the Alcohol Countermeasures Program (AKA Funding the city without choice in the matter).

Chris:
---LOL...sorry, I forgot about the "Kaku Theorem"...(ELEVEN dimensions I think it was)
---They do that most every day in Frisco...
---OR, we'll see what kind of DOUBLE-STANDARD the libtards yank out of their asses (after they remove the sticks shoved up there by themselves).
---Hopefully any stumbling does not directly impact on driving...right? RIGHT???
---You may be correct. I had thought it had to do with some new form of "urban renewal"...

Hey, thanks for dropping by nice and early today to comment.
Have a great weekend (soggy as tomorrow will be...geez)

Stay safe up there, brother.
