Humpday Happenings...
If you liked yesterday's weather conditions, you're sure NOT to like what's coming today.
(just thought I've give you a warning for those in our part of the Midwest)
Welcome to the wonderful mid-week crisis we affectionately call Wednesday.
Our Hoosierland weather for today will consist of (you guessed it)...rain off and on throughout the day with breezy conditions, but the temps will be climbing (again) to around the 50 degree mark, so it's not a cold rain.
Chances of seeing the sun...about as good as me having some DECENT neighbors moving around us...LOL.
Gonna be nice and cloudy, so dress and plan accordingly (lots of wet leaves on the streets).
Now, what say we get ourselves a hot cup of coffee, tea, or cocoa as we take a look as some of the stuff going on elsewhere...hmm?
*** First out of the mudroom is our "WHO SAID THAT?" quote for the week:
"In our age there is no such thing as 'keeping out of politics.' All issues are political issues, and politics itself is a mass of lies, evasions, folly, hatred and schizophrenia."
Now, tell me THIS does not apply to the state of affairs today, and not JUST in OUR country, but the entire planet.
Politics is becoming the new entertainment in many ways, and that's not good.
So, who said that? The answer at the top of tomorrow's post.
Meanwhile, back in the annals of dystopian literature...
*** Next up, time for our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
NOVEMBER 15 -
---It's America Recycles Day
(as long as it's not on OUR property, right?)
---It's National Bundt Day
(it's cake. What more needs to be said?)
---It's National Clean Out Your Refrigerator Day
(dump those "science experiments" aka mystery foods)
---It's National Educational Support Professional's Day
(we have any of those on the FWCS?)
---It's National Philanthropy Day
(that should be ANY day)
---It's National Raisin Bran Cereal Day
(well, I got bran flakes and I got raisins, so...)
---It's National Spicy Hermit Cookie Day
(like to try some of these. They look good)
*** Next up, ANOTHER shooting in Fort Wayne.
Here's the story link:
http://wane.com/2017/11/14/shooting-victim-in-serious-condition/
Officers arrived at a parking lot near Lewis and Barr Sts around 2200 hrs., next to the FWCS Career Academy in response to a shooting.
((FWPD said the shooting happened at the Chapel Oaks Apartments in the 900 block of Buchanan St.
Add caption
Officers located shell casings and pieces of glass from a broken window that belonged to the car the woman was inside of when the shooting happened. Police said the woman – along with three other people in the car, drove about one mile to the downtown parking lot before calling police. The injured woman was approximately five months pregnant and was shot in the leg. Her injuries are not considered life-threatening and the woman is expected to survive.
Police said the two suspects were dressed in all black and ran off after the shooting.
A police K-9 officer attempted a track at the apartment complex but was unable to locate anyone. No arrests have been made and no additional information about the suspects was available.))
Just another evening out on the SE side...
*** Next, City Council is starting to "get it" for the most part. Here's the story:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/20171115/council-leery-of-north-river-deal
The area in question
((Concerns raised Tuesday include the fact that council members have not been able to see the results of an environmental study on the property. Insights contained in that report, several council members said, would be useful to determine the condition of the land, the level of remediation necessary and the estimated cost.
City officials have said the study's findings cannot yet be released because of a nondisclosure agreement.))
You ARE kidding me, right? Sounds a bit like that "you have to pass the bill to see what's in it" ploy.
Sorry, we all got majorly burned with such BS before...and on the FEDERAL level.
((If passed as written, Councilman  Michael Barranda, R - at large, said it could cost taxpayers “millions of dollars that could have been possibly tapped into insurance proceeds.” He was joined by Councilman Paul Ensley, R-1st, in opposing introduction of the measure.))
Councilman Glynn Hines, D-6th, agreed,  lamenting the short deadline and the lack of information regarding why the environmental agreement is necessary.
Wow...stop the presses...Hines is having a bout of CONSCIENCE? Sure hope it's contagious!
*** Next up, you want a little MORE proof that all the Burmese coming to our city is such a great idea? Check this story out:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/courts/20171115/2nd-of-violent-pair-gets-54-years
Yes, Mang Suan, 20, (with a name like that, he HAS to be from Myanmar) is getting 54 years for the violent robberies that he and his partner, Reginald Bowers, 21, were charged with over a year ago.
Feel free to view my archive posts from 26 September 2016 and 28 October 2016 for the original stories.
Took a while, but then again,  the wheels of justice DO turn slowly.
I just wish they run OVER some of these lowlife perps.
*** Next, it's stories like THIS that bring a smile to my face. Here's the link:
http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/11/14/3-ucla-basketball-players-return-to-us-after-being-detained-in-china-for-allegedly-shoplifting.html
Now, I'm NOT smiling because these turdblossoms were RELEASED back to the USA. I couldn't give a rat's ass about them. I don't like basketball...period.
It's an overgrown beast with badly attired players paid too much money to do too little.
I just get a kick out of certain people constantly proving that: "you can take the *N* out of the ghetto, BUT, you can't take the ghetto out of the *N*..."!
I mean, arrested for shoplifting? And in (communist) CHINA, of all places? Man, that's some "special kind of stupid" going on there...and some great role models for the "youts" of America.
Personally, I think they should have been CANED, and then done some "community work" in Beijing, and THEN get released...maybe...lol. Teach them a lesson that SOME places don't enjoy criminal activity like the libtards allow (read FORCE) us to do HERE in AMERICA.
*** Next up, we have a new lighting fixture over the kitchen sink.
We bopped over to Do It Best and grabbed a plug-in fixture for $13 (and change).  Not a bad deal (lowest price I found for the model). And while not an exact replacement for the old unit, does a good job of lighting things back up.
Might have to get a cool white bulb instead - the bulb included leans to the red end of the spectrum (warm light).
That's a real easy fix.
I had to hard-wire the new unit (cut the plug off) using wire nuts and electrical tape, and I had to tuck the wires into the overhead cabinet, but we don't use that cabinet constantly, so that shouldn't be a problem at all.
And, we get some recycle (read junk) out of the deal...
*** Next, time to visit our children over at "Kitten Corner"...
Well, the calm they displayed wore off by later afternoon yesterday, and they got a bit on the rammy side. But, after some laser pointer chasing, they always seem to calm down, and that means nap time.
Of course, there was some cat-watching (inside and outside) and bird-watching to do, between meals and naps.
It's still a fun time, as long as you keep an eye on the two of them...just like children...LOL.
*** Next up, it's time to check back in with "Midnight and Company"...
Both of our furry felines of the community cat contingent were waiting for food once again (before the sky became light), and were around most all the day...I think Midnight went on patrol during the morning, but Whiskers was near the door every time you tried to open it up and go out. She even lets me pick her up now. Good to see they are trusting of US.
I hope they attune themselves that way, and not go to every other person. That can spell trouble knowing the locals around here, and I wouldn't want any harm to befall these cats.
*** Last back to the family room... there are days when life is just one damn thing after another.
Then there are those days when life reclaims it's proper spot as being the most precious thing we can ever have, with the possible exception of time itself.
After all, life hinges upon the ticks of the clock, does it not?
Whatever time we have here is meant to be savored, and not abused or misused.
Life is often said to be "too short", so why not make the most of it, rather than toss it to the gutter?
These days, we see people always reaching for the sensational...the greatest, the biggest, the most YouTube-worthy, while there are others just happy as hell to be alive, and can enjoy all those little things the rest of the folks miss in their "hurry up and wait" world.
Age has one distinct advantage (aside from guile and experience...lol)...and that's being able to better understand and acknowledge all those small things we missed when we were younger, and to appreciate THOSE, rather than the altars of the false gods others seem to line up to worship at.
Yeah...if we knew THEN what we know NOW,,,how often we say that, and wonder how much better things could have been . Better to learn such things late...than never, hmm?
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Just got done playing the week's M10 for Laurie and reading to M10 Radio. Reparata and the Delrons on. How they weren't massive is beyond me.

Being semi-conscious and lethargic most of the day kept me from the worst of the day- or at least paying attention to it.

Agnes Obel on now- "Can you walk on the water with I, you and I..." love this stuff!

I have seen so many quotes lately from ages ago that perfectly reflect today's politics, I'm gonna guess that this one is older than most people think.

Wow, I haven't had a bundt in ages, either!

Mom used to always have Raisin Bran around. Kinda miss it.

Another real big, brave guy assaulting a pregnant woman with a firearm. Just what DID the people before the flood do that was worse than us?

ELO- Nightrider, from Face The Music. ELO always my #1...

"You ARE kidding me, right? Sounds a bit like that "you have to pass the bill to see what's in it" ploy." HEY! I said that yesterday! There is one big fat stinky dead rat bundled in this deal, for sure.

Burmese: Any big cross-section of any part of humanity will give you both angels and turds. Not surprising.

Coach Alford suspended the Shoplifters Three indefinitely- "Until they can show in word and deed that this is not the kind of persons they are." Hopefully he holds that pose against all the amoral alumni who will pressure for reinstatement.

Good job on the light. Were it me, I'd sleep underneath it for a few nights to make sure I don't smell smoke (reflection on MY skills there).

Chris:
---I will be looking forward to giving them a listen.
---We need another Agnes Obel tune on the TM (hint, hint)
---It's not THAT old, but from a VERY credible source.
---To me, cake is cake...lol.
---Do what I do...but bran flakes and a box of raisins and treat yourself. The bran flakes (crushed) can be used for coating fried chicken, too. Pretty tasty.
---Probably disemboweled pregnant women with swords?
(just a wild guess)
---THAT is the ONLY ELO album I ever had (and still have).
(excellent)
---I know you said it, but Pelosi said it first, and I won't otherwise connect YOU to HER in ANY way, buddy.
---Funny hw the turds manage to find a way here WITH all those refugees, isn't it? Vetting anyone?
---Not to mention the NAACP, the ACLU and every OTHER leftard-based cabal chasing the poverty band-wagon, and playing the race card...you know that's coming.
---It took me more time to skull it out than put the dang thing up...been a while since I had to use MY skills along those lines, and you always want to make SURE you don't turn the house into a refuge for the Human Torch...heh.

Hey, thanks for coming by today to comment.

You stay safe (and dry and warm) up there, brother.
