Humpday Happenings...
We bid farewell to July and give a welcome to the month of August.
(can cooler weather be far behind? Yeah, and then comes falling leaves and the mess they create)
Hey, it can ALWAYS be worse, right?
Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us mostly cloudy skies, temps rising a tad higher to around 78 degrees (a warm-up is coming...again), with showers and thunderstorms (?) scattered throughout the day, mainly in the afternoon (so we're told).
Now, I got my coffee right here, so you get whatever you're having and together, we'll see what else has been going on...
*** First off of the starting grid is our WHO SAID THAT? quote for the week:
"The hate of men will pass, and dictators die, and the power they took from the people will return to the people. And so long as men die, liberty will never perish."
Somehow, this speaks to the fact that freedom will survive any onslaught, as it has in times past as well as whatever future awaits.
That's good to know, because I have grown accustomed to such things as freedom and liberty.
So, who said that? The answer at the top of tomorrow's post.
Meanwhile, back at the Central London District School ...
*** Next, we bring you our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
AUGUST 1 -
---It's National Girlfriends Day
(got me a wife, who started out as a girlfriend. Does that count?)
---It's National Minority Donor's Awareness Day
(do we need to make the minority thing special? We're ALL the same inside...period.)
---It's National Raspberry Cream Pie Day
(it's a wonderful day for pie)
---It's Respect for Parents Day
(there's something a lot of kids need these days)
---It's Startup Day Across America
(wonder what we're supposed to be starting?)
*** Next up, since we begin a new month, let's see what observances are coming along for the ride:
AUGUST is:
National Crayon Collection Month
Family Fun Month
National Catfish Month
National Eye Exam Month
National Golf Month
National Peach Month
National Water Quality Month
Romance Awareness Month
National Goat Cheese Month
Happiness Happens Month
National Sandwich Month
National Panini Month
National Brownies at Brunch Month
Get ready for Kindergarten Month
Black Business Month
National Immunization Awareness Month
Children’s Eye Health and Safety Month
International Peace Month
MedicAlert Awareness Month
Motorsports Awareness Month
Spinal Muscular Atrophy Awareness Month
National Back to School Month
So there you go...lots to do to keep one out of trouble...
***And, as an added bonus...today, back in 1944
Polish Jews: resistance fighters of Warsaw
World War II: The Warsaw Uprising against the Nazi German occupation breaks out in Warsaw, Poland. This would last about 2 months (while Stalin's forces sat across a nearby river and did not intervene until after the Germans leveled the city).
*** Next up, FOUR separate drug raids nets 7 plus lots of other "goodies".
Here's that story, brought to you by the letters T, N & B:
https://www.wane.com/news/local-news/4-raids-turn-up-drugs-guns-cash-7-arrested/1337241689
What a bunch of mook-losers!
There were multiple times and locations involved (not SE)..
The Huddlestons were busted back on 19 January 2018 - check my archive post.
And these two losers were BACK on our streets...until they both got busted AGAIN.
All in all, it was a GOOD day for our local narcotics and Emergency Services units.
Nice job, people.
Now, let's KEEP them all locked the hell up for a change.
*** Next, some interesting statistics about our (burgeoning) immigrant population. Here's the story:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/20180801/area-immigration-study-revealing
Yep, that sure IS revealing. It really does not debunk anything I've come to learn, however.
All it does is leave a few things unanswered.
((Not many immigrants live here? At 22,228, they make up nearly 5 percent of the region's population.))
That's a SUBSTANTIAL number, in anyone's book..
((Actually, most of the region's immigrants come from other countries. Mexico is the home country for 28.9 percent of immigrants and Myanmar for 10.7 percent.  Slightly more than 60 percent come from other countries, including India and China.))
Doesn't SEEM like just a coincidence.
How many of those "other countries" include all the central and south American nations, hmm?
((The region has about 8,400 undocumented immigrants, the study found; about 1 in 3 immigrants are undocumented.))
That's a THIRD of all of them...pretty sobering stuff. Bet some live on MY street.
(( the information is important as regional leaders try to increase the area's population through efforts such as the partnership's Road to One Million initiative.))
Yes, because THAT (liberal agenda) is more important than preserving the heritage and culture unique to AMERICA. There's the center of our shrubbery maze, kids.
*** Next up, let's take time to stop by our "Kitten Corner"...
Our kids did quite well yesterday, as the rain sporadically came down, they just napped most of the day away.
Gallifrey and I had some playtime, and later on, Violet curled up and slept with me.
Now that's the kind of day that I come to cherish...a lot. And, I think they know that.
*** Next, it's time to check back in with "Midnight and Whiskers"...
Our furry twosome spent  the day dodging raindrops (didn't we all?).
Seeing Wifey ("mommy") off.
Whiskers was in a shelter, staying dry, while Midnight found a place under a hosta for a time, and then was on patrol (which kept him dry, wherever that was).
Wet food comes in cans, not bags.
They made all the meals, but feeding them under the patio table gets a bit crowded, and doesn't ensure that the food will remain dry all day.
How 'bout that...the rain stopped.
After treats-time, we saw that white cat (nicknamed "Spot") come by and scarf up some of the leftover kibbles.
That was after I saw a possum nibbling at the food. I tried to get a picture (by going out the back door and coming around), but he scurried off. Fast little bugger.
Time for some self-grooming.
Midnight was guarding the driveway and Whiskers was guarding her shelter.
Did I mention these two are LEGAL "immigrants"?
*** Last back to the finish line...the immigrant issue is a touchy one, and it's only because we've had SO many enter our country ILLEGALLY.
Sorry, but that's just breaking the law.
The way around that is "to claim asylum", but that doesn't provide much of an answer to the illegal problem.
I'm for the wall (even if many dig UNDERGROUND to enter the USA). It's a start.
A nation without borders ceases to BE a nation...it's that simple.
You want to come here to live (and more importantly, become an AMERICAN and embrace OUR culture), then do it the way it was done in times past...follow the process, become documented, and stop breaking OUR laws to suit yourselves.
Or, better yet, you can take a stand back in your OWN country and effect change that will allow you to remain THERE.
Immigrants (LEGAL ones, that is) follow our laws...those who enter by illegal means are just part of an INVASION.
Check history and see how that worked with Poland, Austria, Greece, Norway, and France back between 1939-1941.
That was after the Nazis first invaded their OWN country of Germany, mind you.
We really don't want a repetition of anything close to that, do we?
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

That quote is a rather odd outlook. I think I liked Solomon's "Nothing new under the sun" better...

Things have started up at me all day today, thank you. Pretty much fed of that...

I will have sandwich month covered...

I have been on and off trying to read a book on the ghetto uprising. but the author has a way of putting material in a dry way, interrupting it for little side-stories that would be much nicer if he just put them in the main book so he could keep track and not have to go backwards to remind him/us where he was... I did get the gist of it, and the souls of Germany and Russia will have a lot to pay for in the next life...

Drug bust: Now, Bob, you are simply not being sensitive to the social and political factors that lead these people to find alternative employment by servicing a clientele that they themselves belong to, creating a self-perpetuating mess that's all Trump's fault. BTW, have you seen my cheek? It has my tongue somewhere...

Immigrant tree: Three things: Where are the Haitians and Cubans we are supposedly getting, are the Mexicans simply falling south like rain, and WTH is the Burmese line? IOW, I think that graph is FOS...

(As the "actually" part points out so well...)

Chris:
---I initially thought along those lines, but when you find out who said it, it might make a lot more sense, given the life of the person involved.
---Heh. MY answer to ANY of that is: "Don't start with me...you won't win". I say it mostly to INANIMATE objects.
---As will I, my friend...MOST of the month.
---What it must have taken to fight what you know would be a losing battle for 32 months, running out of food, no housing, no amenities, and stealing whatever weapons or ammo you can from dead Germans...that takes some REAL courage.
---ROFL...okay, you can take off the PCBS hat and toss it into the burn pile! "Did you write that down first, or was that off the top of your head?" (asked Sam Wilson of Cap)
You can now take your tongue out of your cheek.
---I think that study (conveniently) left some things out, which, if they were doing it RIGHT, they wouldn't have.
I think they're focused on the two groups that represent the MOST coming here. I mean, we still have Vietnamese and Middle Easterners, right?
(just in such smaller numbers).
I'm miffed at the MILLION people initiative (voters for leftists) gig. That reeks to high heaven.

Thanks for dropping by and commenting.

Stay safe (and keep cool) up there, brother.
