Friday Follies...
Dust off those fog horns...looks like a Victorian London morning out there.
But, things will sort themselves out soon enough and we'll be back to a relatively "normal" day (until someone comes along and screws it up).
That's called SE side optimism, gang.
Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us mostly sunny skies, with temps climbing to around 83 degrees, and yes, no sign of rain (but the humidity hangs on for dear life).
Now, let's all get that cup, glass, or mug of Friday Fortitude poured and parked nearby, as we see what has been (and will be) going on elsewhere...
*** First out fo the lighthouse is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
SEPTEMBER 14 -
---It's National Cream-Filled Donut Day
(now THAT is a breakfast of champions in my book!)
--- It's National Eat a Hoagie Day
(I would if I were back in PHILLY. We don't have Blimpie here anymore)
--- It's National Live Creative Day
(yeah, this one's a pass)
---It's National Virginia Day
(very nice state...quite scenic)
*** Next up, it's another weekend, and that means a look at all the things we can observe over the following 48 hours, so here we go...
SEPTEMBER 15 -
---Saturday is Boys and Girls Club Day for Kids
(never took part in this, and I still made out okay)
---It's Greenpeace Day
(definitely pass on the liberal agenda)
---It's National Tackle Kids Cancer Day
(children should never have to deal with this at all)
---It's National Cheese Toast Day
(NOT to be confused with GRILLED cheese )
---It's National Cleanup Day
(never in our part of the city, except for our house)
---It's National Creme De Menthe Day
(never a big fan of this...guess I;m not gay enough)
---It's National Double Cheeseburger Day
(That's more like it. Don't forget the bacon)
---It's National Felt Hat Day
(it applies to PEOPLE more than cats)
--- It's National Gymnastics Day
(maybe 30 years ago it as for me...lol)
---It's National Hug Your Boss Day
(no more bosses, therefore no hug)
---It's National Linguine Day
(better be some shrimp or scallops in there)
---It's National Online Learning Day
(I've learned a lot online, like how to avoid a lot of idiots)
---It's Responsible Dog Ownership Day
(don't they actually own US?)
Geez, that was a truckload, wasn't it?
SEPTEMBER 16 -
---Sunday is Mayflower Day
(a PILGRIM thing, and not about a moving company)
---It's National Cinnamon Raisin Bread Day
(and it;s good as toast, too with lots of butter)
---It's National Play-Doh Day
(amazing they still make this stuff)
---It's National Step Family Day
(does not pertain to me or the missus, so we'll pass)
---It's Wife Appreciation Day
(I guess that means our OWN wives...right, guys?)
And there we have it...PLENTY of things to do over the weekend (like cramming 10 pounds of crap into a 5 pound bag). Just remember to always observe responsibly.
*** Next, a local youth football coach is charged in rape. Here's the story:
https://www.wane.com/news/crime/youth-football-coach-charged-with-raping-player-s-sister/1437404095
Marvin J. Davis, 32 is the perp who can't keep it in his pants.
He admits he "has a problem"...oh yeah, you got a SERIOUS problem, son.
How people like this keep slipping through society's cracks amazes me.
*** Next up, from the "This don't look good" Department, comes this:
https://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2018/09/over_240000_gm_vehicles_recalled_over_brake_proble.html
The vehicles involved in the recall include the 2018-19 Chevy Cruze, Equinox, Impala, Volt, Bolt, GMC Terrain, Buick LaCrosse, Regal, Cadillac XTS and XTS Professional. The 2018 Chevy Malibu is also included.
Whew...dodged that one.
*** Next, Bill O'Reilly has another very good column concerning evil.
Here's the link:
https://www.billoreilly.com/b/Evil/374163090655407601.html?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=staff_column
And I could  not agree more with his call on this.
*** Next up, time to crop by "Kitten Corner"...
I love watching the inside oi my eyelids.
The kids had another good day, and that means within our "Fortress" walls, we mere mortals also have a good day.
The window perch is the "go-to" spot for Gallifrey when things slow down.
I love following Daddy around.
Violet will take to a chair under the dining room table, or the family room sofa (when she's not following me around). She gets on the ledge near the front door an will rub against my face when I get close to her. She also takes to the activity tent, where she naps (so much for the "activity" part of that).
*** Next, time for our check in with "Midnight and Whiskers"...
Hey, I like it here. Lots of food and affection.
The furry twosome were performing their usual routines - Whiskers was nearby the house all day (and into the night), while Midnight took to another of those LONG patrols...the kind that lasts from late morning until after dinner.
Time for another "adventure"?
That's right,. he missed lunch AND was late for dinner.
One thing that gets him back is shaking my keys on a plate outside.
Wha? I;m back NOW. Where's the grub. Bub?
He knows that sound and comes from wherever he was to where he should be. And sure enough, early this morning, both of them were near the back door of the house.
*** Last back to the shoreline...I cannot imagine what it's like to have up to 30 inches of rain.
But the people along the coasts of the Carolinas might well find out.
As I stated back on 9/11, certain events serve to galvanize our people. Sometimes, it's through the actions of mankind itself.
Other times, it's a force of nature.
We can often work to prevent the former, but not the latter.
Nature can be a very fickle dance partner, and you have to admit that we perform a two-step with it throughout every year.
But, we are at IT'S mercy, and not the other way around.
The best we can do is be prepared for any eventuality and pray for those who are in the path of such weather events.
And, we can help where we can, when we can, as the Spirit leads us.
Do have yourselves a good weekend.
Be well, make a difference to someone today, and as always...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

---Seems they want to cram everything into the last couple weekends of September...SHEESH!
---Yeah, whenever I see a recall NOW, I have to read up on it. With all the tech in cars these days, there's WAY too much that can go wrong.
---The cats are great to have around, but I can't fathom having to lug around a full body fur coat in the hot weather.
We will keep cool, rest assured.

Thanks for rolling yup today to comment.
(missed seeing 'ya around)

Stay safe down there, dear.

Hmmm... I know it was a busy weekend. But more and more, forgetfulness is a faithful companion...

Had my donut Saturday. New boss sprung for a buncha donuts and egg mcmuffins and breakfast burritos.

"...not gay enough..." lol!

Skipped the double for a chicken wrap this weekend...

I can't get my arms around the new boss... not eager to try, either... but I did give Debbie a birthday hug last Monday, so I'm good.

Linguine: IDK... I'm seeing SQUASH...

Our weekends got the news that soon we will be rid of Saturday work. We discovered that we were getting orders from Mizzou (the Tracker boats) that were being DUPLICATED on a staggering scale, and our backlog nearly evaporated overnight. They were thinking that it was a proplem with they way they transfer orders between plants (which is hugely overcomplicated IMHO)... but Saturday, they brought me a whole list of canopies (nothing to do with MO) that were already done, and in process of going out the door. Whatever it is, it ain't done yet.

Chris:
---God help us the day I start forgetting to remind you not to forget...lol.
Maybe we can get adjoining rooms at "the home"?
---Sounds like MY kinda boss!
(for breakfast, anyway)
---Make that NEVER gay enough...heh.
---There's very FEW things I'd pass up a dbl-cheeseburger for. (perhaps a TRIPLE?)
---I draw the line at shaking hands.
---Squash? Did you bring your racket?
(I used to play...not eat)
---HTH did the orders get DUPLICATED?
Someone need extra "data entry"?
Yeah, the transfer of orders SHOULD be easier than anything else (you'd think).
This place needs a larger wall to catch all the crap being tossed at it (imho).

I'd be a candidate for a padded room by now (there).

Thanks for catching up here and commenting.
Much appreciated.

Stay safe (and never gay enough) up there, brother.
