AMERICANS...ASSEMBLE! |
Looks like we get a respite from the rain for a couple days...make the most of it, right?
Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us partly cloudy skies (although there is an early fog warning with school delays in some areas).
The temps will be on the rise once again, climbing up to the mid-70s.
Tonight we'll dip back down into the 50s (that's comfy).
So, let's get that refreshing drink poured and parked nearby, as we see what's been going on elsewhere...
*** First off of the cat shelter is our "What the hell happens today, Bob? feature:
SEPTEMBER 11 -
---It's National Ants on a Log Day
(never liked this...never will...not a fan of celery)
---It's National Hot Cross Buns Day
(funny, haven't seen these around. Now these I do like)
---It's National Make Your Bed Day
(for many in our area, it's more like make your mattress on the floor day)
---It's Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance
(more on that at the close)
*** Next, and since it's Tuesday, let's take a look at all the FWPD calls that we should ahve heard about last week...but didn't.

Still have our share of assholes playing with pyrotechnics, don't we?
Any bets that NONE of those were cited, let alone arrested for breaking the law?
*** Next up, a good Kevin Leininger column - FTW takes out (another) loan.
(I've lost count, but we're definitely not taking in enough to cover them all)
Here's the link:
http://www.news-sentinel.com/news/local-news/2018/09/10/fort-wayne-seeks-22-million-state-loan-to-accelerate-pace-of-wastewater-improvements/
Looks like that utility rate hike (for WATER this time around) can't be far from our mailboxes...OR wallets and bank accounts.
You have to wonder when you see your city taking out loan after loan, (overly) confident that the citizens (those who actually WORK for a living) will be picking up the tab...a bit presumptuous if you ask me.
*** Next, Sir Paul McCartney comes to FTW...NEXT year, and the hooplah is out the ass here.

(((yawn))) |
Sorry, I liked the Beatles and a lot of (early) McCartney stuff, but it's too little (way) too late for my taste. Besides, he doesn't have the "pipes" he used to have (just backup singers that mimic his style). I'll gladly pass (and play some LPs instead).
*** Next up, time to drop by "Kitten Corner"...
The kids had a really good day .

Gallifrey decides to "press the laundry". |

Violet prefers the comfort of the activity tent |
*** Next, let's do our check in with "Midnight and Whiskers"...
She has dedication...I'll give her that.
And, they even got to have their lunch and dinner meals out from under the patio table for a change.
It does get a bit "crowded" under there, I must say.
Neither of them were wet, except when they walked through the lawn...then they only had wet legs and paws.

It's getting close to mealtime... |

Yes...quite close indeed. |
*** Last back to the yard...Remember who we used to be seventeen years ago?
Or perhaps, more importantly, remember who we were the DAY AFTER 9/11?
What happened to THOSE people?
Well, some of them are still around.
I thought I'd toss this story in, because it reflects who we were.
http://www.foxnews.com/us/2018/09/09/groundbreaking-tower-voices-flight-93-memorial-erected-ahead-911-anniversary.html1
The thing is, many have long forgotten how we became galvanized as a nation after those attacks back on 9/11.
Since then, we've become more divided than we used to be back in the 60s.
And we've become a much LESS civilized society since 2001.
Have we become that complacent that it takes such a catastrophic event like we had 17 years ago to bring us (back) together?

Pentagon Memorial |
Personally, I'd like to actively avoid such events, especially in OUR country, but all the civil strife we're seeing almost daily has this cumulative effect upon our society...make no mistake about that.

Flight 93 Memorial - Tower of Voices |
Perhaps we're due for another "galvanizing" event? I certainly pray such is NOT the case.
But, we do need something to bring us all back together, and away from each other's throat, for the course we're currently on leads to a destination we might not want to visit.
The choice to effect such change lies with all of us...as it always does.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Ants... YUCCCCH!!!
Make your bed day....BWA-HA-HA-HA-HA!!!!!!
Kitty looks like that "shot" was a needle in the rump...
I have a song in the shuffle to be listened to from Sir Paul's latest. Much cheaper than a nosebleed seat.
Your closing musing reminds me of my post yesterday- and why I feel the way I do about it. I've been forcing myself NOT to pray that Florence makes a north turn and wipes DC off the map.
I think that we won't have another Galvanizing event that can bring us together short of a nuke strike or the Big Quake. At least not one that does more than gives lip service to a change.
Chris:
---well, I LIKE raisins...NOT ants.
---THAT sounds like a devious laugh!
---It kinda DOES, doesn't it?
---All we have to do now is make it through ALL those commercials about McC coming to town (next year)...sheesh!
---Oh, I'd make book that D.C. will feel something from this storm, unless it craps out before landfall.
---I wonder if the SECOND COMING would be galvanizing ENOUGH?
(now that would be a good thing)
Hey, thanks for stopping by to comment.
Stay safe up there, brother.
