Well, it was nice to NOT have a day that was dreary as hell...for a change.
Looks like we get a respite from the rain for a couple days...make the most of it, right?
Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us partly cloudy skies (although there is an early fog warning with school delays in some areas).
The temps will be on the rise once again, climbing up to the mid-70s.
Tonight we'll dip back down into the 50s (that's comfy).

So, let's get that refreshing drink poured and parked nearby, as we see what's been going on elsewhere...

Looks like that utility rate hike (for WATER this time around) can't be far from our mailboxes...OR wallets and bank accounts.

You have to wonder when you see your city taking out loan after loan, (overly) confident that the citizens (those who actually WORK for a living) will be picking up the tab...a bit presumptuous if you ask me.

Now, if this took place say in hte late 70s...that would have been better, but now? Not so much.
Sorry, I liked the Beatles and a lot of (early) McCartney stuff, but it's too little (way) too late for my taste. Besides, he doesn't have the "pipes" he used to have (just backup singers that mimic his style). I'll gladly pass (and play some LPs instead).

Sure, they had some chasing around, but overall, they got into a nice routine, which is something we all prefer, as opposed to utter chaos.
*** Next, let's do our check in with "Midnight and Whiskers"...

Our furry twosome spent most of the day near the house. Midnight was a bit late for lunch, but Whiskers was there ALL day.

She has dedication...I'll give her that.
And, they even got to have their lunch and dinner meals out from under the patio table for a change.
It does get a bit "crowded" under there, I must say.
Neither of them were wet, except when they walked through the lawn...then they only had wet legs and paws.

It's getting close to mealtime...

They do love to wait by the patio and back door to see when it's time to eat...or just out of curiosity.

Yes...quite close indeed.

Nice to have such guardians at our gates, watching over us.
*** Last back to the  yard...Remember who we used to be seventeen years ago?

Or perhaps, more importantly, remember who we were the DAY AFTER 9/11?

What happened to THOSE people?

Well, some of them are still around.

The thing is, many have long forgotten how we became galvanized as a nation after those attacks back on 9/11.
Since then, we've become more divided than we used to be back in the 60s.
And we've become a much LESS civilized society since 2001.

Have we become that complacent that it takes such a catastrophic event like we had 17 years ago to bring us (back) together?

I'd like to believe we're better than that, but the overwhelming evidence points to the contrary.
Personally, I'd like to actively avoid such events, especially in OUR country, but all the civil strife we're seeing almost daily has this cumulative effect upon our society...make no mistake about that.

Those who would promote and condone evil upon us seem to be gaining more traction than those of us who not only detest such evil, but just want to live our lives in as much harmony as we can find.
Perhaps we're due for another "galvanizing" event? I certainly pray such is NOT the case.

But, we do need something to bring us all back together, and away from each other's throat, for the course we're currently on leads to a destination we might not want to visit.
The choice to effect such change lies with all of us...as it always does.
