Tuesday Tidbits...
Looks like our non-fall Fall conditions will continue into this second day of October.
Yes, there was a mention of rain, but I've yet to see anything outside this morning.
(doesn't mean we won't get some)
Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us mostly cloudy skies, temps reaching back up to around 75 degrees (that's not too bad), and a (good) chance of some scattered rain showers.
Take the umbrella and drive accordingly.
Now, without any further ado, let's get that first refreshing drink of the day poured and parked nearby, as we see what's been going on elsewhere...
*** First off of the bookshelf is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
OCTOBER 2 -
---It's National Custodial Worker's recognition Day
(oh, we definitely need janitors these days)
---It's National fried Scallops Day
(a shame they're SO damn expensive...I LOVE these guys!)
---It's National Name Your Car Day
(Wifey drives the "Silver Streak" and I drive the "Batmobile"...)
*** Next up, and because it's Tuesday, let's look at ALL the FWPD calls that went out last week that we never heard anything about...and should have, because these affect more than the victims...

Always gotta have ONE frigging idiot, don't we?
*** Next,  could this wind up as homicide (by arson) #37?
https://www.wane.com/news/local-news/woman-burned-in-apparent-arson-dies/1489833160
Well, he DID admit to doing it.
Initially, this perp was charged with aggravated battery, but since the victim died as a result of her burns, why not bump this up to murder...or at least manslaughter?
*** Next up, it looks like the city council is going to hear about public safety increases:
http://www.wfft.com/content/news/City-Council-to-discuss-increases-in-public-safety-Tuesday--494744821.html
We need MORE police? With crime going down (as we were told for years)?
I'd say someone downtown finally got a dose of what the rest of us call REALITY, and woke the hell up.
Hence the increase in police officers (that has been needed for at least the last 10 years).
They're learning at City Hall...takes a while, but they're getting there.
*** Next, who could have thought that we'd have a new problem with garages?
http://www.journalgazette.net/business/20180930/Vehicles-outgrow-garages-93
Looks like an "OOPS" moment to me.
Catering to another (growing) minority?
Granted, this pertains to NEW home constructs, so what happens with older homes suich as ours?
And why do people have this "need" to drive a damn TRUCK, anyway?
If you notice, commercials for vehicles tend to LEAN to the SUV/CUV models...as if the powers that be "want" you to get those rather than the traditional automobile.
Sounds and looks like another "master-plan" to get the public to do what companies want, instead of what the the people want.
*** Next up,  Fort Wayne United discusses violence
https://wpta21.com/news/top-stories/2018/10/01/fort-wayne-united-to-discuss-how-violence-impacts-children-at-annual-conference/
Sooner or later, the time for discussion will be over, and THEN...there requires of people some sort of ACTION to get a handle on the violence.
But, there has to be care practiced, so as not to infringe on peoples' rights.
My feeling is that people who commit crime automatically give up their rights (because they denied the rights of others in the process).
*** Next, I guess when all else fails, you can still manage to find one way to get more money for utilities:
https://wpta21.com/news/consumer/2018/10/01/new-protection-program-offers-relief-for-water-and-sewer-line-repairs/
Wonder if this also covers those living in apartments around town?
We already PAY for sewer costs, but apparently, someone wants MORE and they "think" this is a shrewd way to pull this off.
Sorry, doesn't really give me a warm and fuzzy feeling, but I'll wait and read the mailer when it comes.
*** Next up, time to drop by and visit our "Kitten Corner"...
The kids were in pretty good form yesterday. We actually opened the screen on the back door, so they could get some rsh air.
Pondering world takeover, no doubt.
It didn't take them long to get bored with what was outside (I know the feeling in the neighborhood these days), so it was time to kick back and take it easy (is there any OTHER way for a cat?). I think these two are sneaking peeks at the Garfield comics in the paper.
*** Next, let's check back in with "Midnight and Whiskers"...
Our furry twosome were both waiting for breakfast, and that sets my mind at ease.
Whiskers spent the whole day near the house, while Midnight took some time to make sure the area was safe. He was late for lunch, but didn't miss it. And he was there for dinner, but (and this was a first) he missed the hand held treats later on.
Not to worry, though, as he DID come by after it got dark, so I fed both of them on the back steps, and that went over well. They both curled up on the top step and remained there until I closed the door and locked up for the night.
*** Last back to the library stacks...I admit there are days when I wonder what possesses people to do the things they do.
You know what (and who) I'm talking about.
I've always followed the "has to have a purpose" gig, and that's worked out pretty well so far.
But many people today have absolutely NO rhyme to their reason, if you can call it reason at all.
The circus sideshow that the supreme court nomination hearings has become is a glaring example, and I'll not go into any detail about , except to say that I detest such obstructionism, and that those professing to be as mature as they're supposed to be need to get their sh*t together.
People seem to do things purely for the fact that THEY CAN DO IT.
And, that's what gets a lot of folks in trouble...or worse.
We're all guilty of doing dumb things, but that USUALLY takes place as we mature into adulthood and are "learning the ropes", as it were.
But there does come a time when you SHOULD have learned enough to STOP doing those dumb things.
Sadly, some people never learn, or worse, choose NOT to learn.
Perhaps taking a little time to make some good choices might be in order.
Anything less is just a waste of time...and one's life.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

I did try the fried scallop the other day- not bad. Beats calimari.

I don't understand why the auto industry is trying to phase out traditional cars. But that's not an industry known for making sense.

You aren't feeding the kids lasagne, are you?

Chris:
---UGH, calamari...that's D's dish.
Give me scallops...preferably SEA scallops (the BIG ones, but I will take bay scallops in a pinch (the little ones).
Either way...delicious.
---The auto industry hasn't made much sense since the late 80s.
(and they started the downward slide back during the first oil embargo (and the Carter administration).
---Lasagna?
Hell no. I don't even feed MYSELF that (and I LOVE it), but now you got me hungry for it.

Hey, thanks for stopping by to comment.
(we now return you to the Doctor's regeneration from David Tennant to Matt Smith...enjoy).

Stay safe up there, brother.
