Thoughts For Thursday...
Well, yesterday was "fun", wasn't it?
We got above freezing temps and all that did was melt enough to cause some nice re-freezing overnight, making today'c commute another study in patience and white-knuckle-itis. We've also the plethora of school delays and closing out there.
And from there, it only gets worse, as in COLDER.
Our Hoosierland weather today will bring us mostly cloudy skies, temps only climbing to about 26 degrees, and some light winds.
Not much to write home about, is it?
HOW aged is this stuff?
In any event, let's start the day with a comforting beverage (preferably of the hot or "fortified"  variety) as we see what else has been going on...
*** First off of the glacier is the answer to yesterday's WHO SAID THAT? quote:
"Whoever is careless with the truth in small matters cannot be trusted with important matters."
This was spoken by our good friend, Albert Einstein (14 March 1879 – 18 April 1955), who (as you should know by now)  was a German-born theoretical physicist who developed the theory of relativity, one of the two pillars of modern physics (alongside quantum mechanics).
He's best known for the E=MC2 deal. and here once again is his WIKI:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albert_Einstein
And yes, it's a LONG read, but it's a good summary of his life and accomplishments. And, it's a good way to pass some time rather than go outside and freeze something off.
*** Next, time for the "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
JANUARY 24 -
---It's National Compliment Day
(feel free to pass them out, maybe even to yourself)
---It's National Peanut Butter Day
(got this one covered - pass the jelly)
---It's Beer Can Appreciation Day
(only if you're a collector)
*** Next up, the Foster Park Pavilion (number 3) is to get a restoration.
Here's the lowdown:
http://www.news-sentinel.com/news/local-news/2019/01/23/historic-foster-park-pavilion-no-3-to-be-restored/
Before
Nice to learn the history behind this pavilion.
People of Fort Wayne should be happy that this pavilion hasn't been vandalized in the manner that some have done to similar places in Pennypack Park in Philly.
After
Some morons can't figure out that when you destroy something through vandalism, you spoil things for a LOT more folks who just want to enjoy the venue.
*** Next, another excellent Kevin Leininger column. Here's the link:
http://www.news-sentinel.com/news/local-news/2019/01/22/kevin-leininger-to-king-racism-was-an-evil-that-needed-to-be-destroyed-not-an-accusation-to-be-exploited/
I could not agree more.
Racism seems to be the "go-to" crutch for anyone who can't postulate any sort of cogent thoughts regarding a slight or injustice, many times, where there is none to be found.
Exploitation...indeed.
*** Next up, time to stop by "Kitten Corner"...
"Geez, is he sleeping AGAIN?"
The children were in cute mode (well, one fo them was, and we all know who) yesterday, so that meant a photo op. Violet loves to do her "follow daddy" routine each morning, while Gallifrey waits in the kitchen for the food to be handed out.
"No, I'm keeping the quilt on the chair."
What he likes to do is get to another room BEFORE I do, and sometimes, that entails zooming past me at warp 3...lol.
No wonder he spends as much time as he does napping.
*** Next, let's check back in with "Midnight and Whiskers"...
A carpeted dining area? Very cool.
Our furry duo spent some of the day close to the house. Both missed lunch, but returned for dinner. Naturally, they both made breakfast (it was Wet Food Wednesday, after all).
And while neither showed up for back step treats, when Wifey headed to bed after 11 PM, she heard a meowing at the FRONT door - it was Midnight. so, he got a handful of dry food to hold him over until this morning.
Yep, he's got us trained REAL well.
*** Last back to the deep freeze...I'm amazed at how little we're hearing about global warming with all this cold.
Whoooooaaaa!!!
It's like those people crawled back under the rock they came from.
Thing is, we're still hearing about climate change, and I will say that our climate IS changing, as it usually does every season of every year.
Can we say "uh oh" now?
I wonder if the shifting of Earth's magnetic poles has something to do with that?
https://science.howstuffworks.com/environmental/earth/geophysics/earths-magnetic-north-pole-has-rapidly-shifted-in-past-40-years.htm
Oh, yes...that's proven. The (magnetic) "south pole" is now in the Indian Ocean, while the (magnetic) "north pole" is somewhere in Siberia.
(Good lord...is Santa Claus actually a Russkie? That WOULD explain the RED suit...heh)
This "pole-reversal" is nothing new, but this would be the first in RECORDED history.
Should play hell with GPS (and such).
It's nothing that WE can change, so perhaps the best course is to adapt when necessary.
I'd hate to think that it HAS to take some event to bring us together, but...isn't that the way it usually works?
Perhaps this can become a teachable moment for us all? We shall see.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

One thing you can't say about Einstein: "He was no Einstein..."

Poo on PB...

To today's politician, anything is something to be exploited.

Man, you know it's over when they talk you into midnight snacks...

Only magnetic Santa is a Ruskie. He never goes down the chimney anyhow- keeps sticking to the TV aerial...

Sorry, just finished TM after a long top 20 stupid list day, and having to scold Nardole for getting the wrong guest again (though it's not often he gets it THIS wrong). Ready for a shower and a dog-beating.

--A very astute observation...lol.
---POO on PB???
WTH, man? Did Mr. Peanut chase after you as a child?
---Yes, and I would go so far as to say they even manage to exploit exploitation itself. How's that?
---LMAO...yeah, our new routine: "Treats at Midnight WITH Midnight."
---ROFL...I never thought about that.
---That's our Nardole...heh.
Dog-beating? Is Scrappy smacking you around AGAIN?

Thanks for shuffling on by today to comment.
Much appreciated.

Stay safe (and keep the thermal clothes handy) up there, brother.
