Friday Follies...
What a change a mere 24 hours makes when it comes to the weather, right?
We went from near 60 degree temps way down to the mid teens this morning.
And how about those winds? Be mindful of stuff like branches and such blowing about.
(like we don;t have enough to watch with the potholes, hmm?
Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us mostly cloudy skies, some light flurries early on and plenty of COLD out there, with temps staying in the mid to upper teens for the day. And don't forget those windy conditions.
Now, let's get our calm working with a nice cup, glass or mug of Friday Fortitude, as we see what else has been going on...
*** First off of the wind farm is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
FEBRUARY 8 -
---It's National Boy Scouts Day
(do the girls have to wear pants as well now, and can the boys wear skirts?)
---It's National Iowa Day
(which means nothing at all to us in Indiana)
---It's National Kite Flying Day
(sure as hell is windy enough)
*** Next, and since we have arrived at week's end, let's see what we can observe over the following 48 hours...
FEBRUARY 9 -
---Saturday is National Pizza Day
(be real hard to beat some of the pizza joints back in Philly)
---It's National Bagel Day
(make some PIZZA bagels - kill 2 birds with 1 stone)
---It's National Toothache Day
(they just had to go and mess things up, didn't they?)
FEBRUARY 10 -
---Sunday is National Cream Cheese Brownie Day
(sure sounds good to me)
---It's National Home Warranty Day
(our place is LONG past that stuff)
---It's National Umbrella Day
(shouldn't this have been yesterday?)
And there you go...lots to do and keep you off the streets and out of jail.
Just remember to always observe responsibly.
*** Next up, so what's up with this "Green New Deal" anyway, you ask?
Wonder no longer:
https://www.vox.com/energy-and-environment/2018/12/21/18144138/green-new-deal-alexandria-ocasio-cortez
While destroying it in the process?
Oh yes...all the typical players are in for this latest incarnation of lunacy.
I suppose MY biggest question is:  When you "do away" with fossil fuel products, WHERE are ewe going to park all the cargo airplanes and ocean-going cargo vessels, hmm?
R-O-F-L-M-A-O...!!!
And then, there are the DIESEL-powered freight TRAINS out there.
Also, what will we use to "grease the wheels" of all this "green" tech?
Didn't quite think THIS one through, didja, kids?
MY "Green New Deal". Makes more sense.
Well, what can we expect from those who want nothing but "free stuff", right?
*** Next, we get a "two-fer" this week with Bill O'Reilly.
Here's his latest column:
https://www.billoreilly.com/b/Ignoring-Truth/649495517692191490.html?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=staff_column
Yep, Bill nailed it again w/ the Abrams "rebuttal" to the SOTU speech.
And yes, Jon Lovitz DOES come to mind...
*** Next up, time to stop by "Kitten Corner"...
Taking it easy before the winds
The kids started the day off nicely, but when the winds started to kick up, they got a bit anxious, especially when they heard the howling of the wind through the tree branches. Can't say I blame them. Didn't make for the best nights to sleep.
Tired from racing about.
Still, they seem none the worse for wear, plus, they can always nap the day away (they don;t have to take out the trash and other assorted chores around the house...lol.
*** Next, let's do our check in with "Midnight and Whiskers"...
"I'm always here when it counts."
Our furry duo braved the elements to make sure their bellies were full, even if Midnight was AWOL at lunchtime.
"It's not raining yet, but I know it's coming."
Actually, he got a double dose of treats, because he stayed out a bit after dinner and got some then. Later, when Wifey got home, both he and Whiskers got treats on the back steps, even though it was drizzling the whole time.
*** Last back to the parking lot...Baseball Hall of Famer, Frank Robinson has passed away at the age of 83. Here's his WIKI:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Robinson
Now here was a good role model, excellent athlete, a fierce competitor, and he became the only player to win the MLB Most Valuable Player Award in BOTH the National League and American League. He was also the FIRST black manager in major league baseball.
And that was when baseball WAS baseball.
The list of honors is very important NOT because he was black, but because of the quality of his character as a baseball player, and as a person.
I think that (as Dr. King might say) is the most important aspect of the human condition.
Therein lies the lesson for the day.
Do have a good weekend.
Be well, make a difference to someone today,, and as always...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Here I am, sorta, between listening to the 1956 charts...

Might be a bit of overkill for the kites today...

Still eating on that Marcos pizza from yesterday...

Cream cheese brownie- what a concept!

So many things to say about the GND (including Pelosi getting it taken down from the webs)... my favorite- the 100% renewable would require land area the size of California. Good idea! Send them all to Mexico and replace 'em with wind turbines!

Or the Thin Green Line. That works for me, too!

BOR: Excellent post. These people are so intellectually dishonest it boggles...

The wind didn't bother me or the Boofus. The only thing that bothers him from sound sleep anymore is his bladder. Me too, pretty much.

F Robby was a real loss. Somebody on Twitter last night said he was the 2nd greatest Red behind Bench. A Rose fan piped up, but the next guy ended that: "Rose was a good player. Frank was a GREAT player."

Guess what? Caught up to the sewers again. I went home after 3 hrs yesterday, Mila and Gwen both off today. Racks of covers waiting to be sewn everywhere. Almost finished the orders due Valentines day today...

Chris:
---That's okay...I'm doing my last check before sack-time.
---Overkill...NAH...para-sailing maybe...lol.
---Wifey snagged a thick crust Little Caesars...works for me.
---I know. I like cream cheese AND brownies.
---I barely scratched the surface with the "proposals" from the GND crowd...total loons...all of them!
We really COULD use the Corps about now (where's my ring?).
---Intellectually dishonest...I LOVE that!
---Wind doesn't really bother me either...it's all the TALL trees nearby that are NEVER PRUNED by the "locals" that does.
---In some ways, I think "Charlie Hustle" took a cue FROM Robinson.
Those were some very large shoes that won't be filled anytime soon (imho).
---Oh...SEWERS...I thought you meant SEWERS...LMAO.
("seamstresses" would have made my reading easier)
I was wondering if you were peering down some manholes...
So, if you're caught up, another day off?

Anyway, have yourselves good weekend.

Stay safe (dry, not wind-blown, and warm) up there, brother.
