Tuesday Tidbits...
Well, the good news is that here in Fort Wayne, we're NOT going to catch the brunt of this "mega storm" which will impact most of the east coast soon (about 200 MIL people to be affected, so I heard).
The bad news is that we'll catch a bit of it, and that means more lousy weather.
Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us mostly sunny skies (we DID have a full moon sighting last night, which would explain a LOT of the stupid going on out there), temps rising to around 32 degrees, and some snow showers moving in later tonight.
Always tastes better when Stark pays.
Now, let's take a minute to get that warm, comforting drink poured, as we see what else has been going on...
*** First out of the freezer is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
FEBRUARY 19 -
---It's National Chocolate Mint Day
(the best kind can be found at smaller chocolate makers)
---It's National Lash Day
(with our new-found gender ambiguity, this should be interesting)
---It's National vet girls ROCK Day
(hey, if they can down the bad guys, more power to them)
*** Next, Time to look into the FWPD blotter for ALL the important calls that went over the air last week (that we didn't hear anything about, and should have).

*** Next up, Pat Caddell (a FOX contributor) dies ta the age of 68. Here's the story:
https://www.foxnews.com/politics/patrick-caddell-pollster-who-also-contributed-to-fox-news-is-dead-at-68-report
For someone who was once a democrat (but saw the light of conservatism), I found his take on FOX thought-provoking, becasue he was correct in his calls. Like to have more people like him around.
*** Next up, Bob Rinearson has a good column (N-S) that I would ALSO like t know what the answer is as well...here's the link:
http://www.news-sentinel.com/opinion/2019/02/18/guest-column-i-cant-wait-to-see-what-the-liberals-come-up-with-next/
Maybe, when it comes to the progressives...we might not want to know?
I will say that these loons are well beyond blowing smoke out their butts.
Even an old-time circus sideshow never had THIS may freaks.
*** Next, A Florida mom demands "justice" for her son. Read the lunacy here:
https://wpta21.com/news/top-stories/2019/02/18/florida-mother-demands-justice-after-11-year-old-arrested-after-refusing-to-recite-pledge-of-allegiance/
((He reportedly told the substitute teacher the flag was racist and the national anthem was offensive to black people.))
Excuse me...OUR flag  -  "racist"?
Now I wonder WHO put THAT thought in this 11-year old's head anywya?
Could it be his MOM, one Dhakira Talbot, whose son attends the Lawton Chiles Middle Academy on Lakeland, FL.
What's the big deal?
So, (to save face for the school) we just drop the substitute teacher like a bad habit, and the child gets a free pass. Sounds all too typical.
*** Next up, Some backstory of the Aurora IL shooter comes out:
https://www.wane.com/news/national-world/aurora-shooter-s-permit-was-revoked-but-gun-wasn-t-seized/1789906822
And HERE:
https://www.wane.com/news/national-world/aurora-shooting-raises-questions-over-gun-permit-checks/1789345258
Here's another case of someone falling through the cracks when it comes to NOT enforcing the CURRENT gun laws. It's not a case pf needing MORE laws...just making the ones we have WORK.
The shooter had a history which SHOULD have not permitted him to HAVE a gun, and yet, a failure in the pipeline causes this.
Who said that ALL mass shooters were WHITE, anyway?
Hardly heard a peep about THAT, have we?
*** Next,  those who have NETFLIX (we do not nor plan to) will have to settle with "THE PURGE" as all the MARVEL series get the ax.
Here's the story:
https://www.msn.com/en-us/tv/news/jessica-jones-punisher-canceled-as-netflix-completes-marvel-purge/ar-BBTLpDZ?ocid=spartanntp
We can add Jessica Jones and The Punishes (series) to Daredevil, Iron Fist, Luke Cage and the team-up miniseries The Defenders.
Maybe putting these shows on REGULAR channels would be the better option...
I'd probably check them out
Or, you can wait for Marvel's parent company to premiere their OWN streaming network (---DISNEY+---) later this year.
*** Next up, time once again to stop by our "Kitten Corner"...
Our kids had a very good day with a little bird watching, a little napping (make that a LOT), some eating, some hugging time, and some sack time with Daddy.
Daddy is nice and warm
Violet likes sleeping between my legs some nights.
Gallifrey prefers to sleep in my chair
Zzzz...zzz...zzz...zzz~
Hey, whatever gets the job done, right?
*** Next up, let's also check in with "Midnight and Whiskers"...
Comfy carpeting - 3 stars.
Our furry twosome also had a good day, considering they were outside all the time.
We resorted to under the table feeding to keep both the food and the cats dry.
Plenty of food for these two.
Naturally, Midnight went on patrol (missing lunch), while Whiskers stayed against the house.
And yes, they both got back step treats when Wifey came home.
I don't recall ever being so spoiled, but I do enjoy spoiling all four of our "furries".
*** Last back to the coming storm...ever get the feeling we're being MANIPULATED?
Think about it. Read the news, watch the TV or check things out online.
The facts are SO obvious, it's not funny.
In Lansing MI the GM plant that's blowing $36 MIL to expand...so they can make MORE (cats?...guess again) CROSSOVER vehicles.
We've already been cajoled (read all but forced) into LED lightbulbs (after the fluorescents took over the incandescent market). And we've been forced into getting (digital) cable, because those FREE airwaves we used to get television over have been co-opted by the government (for what reason, I still don't know). We're now (slowly) being forced out of cable and dish TV in lieu of INTERNET-driven streaming programming. Add that to all the "smart" tech we're being told we "need" in our homes and lives.
And please, let's NOT forget the damnable smart PHONES, that have cause  so many societal problems over the last decade or so. Helluva way to dumb down the populace.
It seems like the era of devices made to do ONE thing is rapidly coming to an end. Everything has to have the "Swiss army knife" component to it, or else we're told we can't survive.
Funny, but a simple EMP can render ALL of that (and more) totally useless.
Maybe, we ought to get back to being MORE human (and more reliant upon ourselves and each other), and less reliant upon "things" touted to make our lives better.
Let's go for better PEOPLE first, and then work out from there.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

The full moon is what Mike Joy blamed the Daytona race on...

Mint is an insult to good chocolate...

Rinearson: Just why I bothered to respond to Hissong the other day.

Without reading the article yet, isn't arresting an 11 y-o for not saying the pledge a bit of overkill as well? It's disrespectful, selfish, stupid, and protected speech...

Aurora: Fell through the cracks? But the Illinois guns laws are such a model for the nation, I thought...

We had netflix, but they got rid of all the old stuff we liked, and then lost DW to BBC streaming, so we shitcanned them long since. Between horrible customer service, constantly rising prices, and now this, they seem bent on sinking themselves. Rotsa Ruck, guys.

Closing: The pieces falling together... those with wisdom can read the signs of the times...

---I was watching that race...he MIGHT have been onto something. That was the LONGEST 11 laps in history...heh.
(reminded of rush hour back in Philly)
---If it's done RIGHT, it's good. Otherwise, perfect chocolate is just that...CHOCOLATE (period).
---I hadn't thought about that, but it makes sense to me now.
(good for you)
---Yeah, the school may have carried things a bit TOO far there. A trip to the office was definitely warranted and a call to MOM would be fine as well.
Thing is, they have police "resource officers" in most every school these days, and any arrest is discretionary (not mandatory) in nature.
My thought is that the kid is being taught wrong AT HOME, and that should be looked into. That's where a lot of the disrespect is created, and early on.
---Some peoples' cracks are others' CHASMS. This case proves that. States with stricter gun laws have a history of seeing MORE violence than states that have less stricter laws (which ARE better enforced).
---I'm sure they'll find some niche...until they're bought out by someone better. Seems to follow a pattern.
---On the "close"...I'm just seeing manipulation in almost EVERYTHING we're exposed to, and to be frank (instead of Bob for a moment), it's not ADDING much (if anything) to the value of our lives. It's DETRACTING from it.
What choices we're allowed are becoming fewer.
That's not freedom...but it sure is scary.

Thanks much for taking the time to stop by and comment.

Stay safe (and wise beyond your years) up there, brother.

Just dark chocolate w/orange or raspberry does it for me. And, it has to be Swiss because they rule the chocolate world. We go there every summer to visit our daughter, so we know what we are talking about.

What is it when a parent opens the top of their student's head and pours trash. That is what garbage disposals are for.

Susan:
Oh, without a doubt the SWISS make the finest chocolate.
(there are a few small shops around that make good dark chocolate (Charlie's down in Vincennes, Indiana is REALLY good.)
Finding these shops is always a tasty experience...heh.
I've had chocolate from Austria...that's also quite good.
---It would most likely surprise a LOT of us to find out WHAT is being put into the heads of our youth these days.
(most of it can't be good)
Garbage disposals...very good analogy (sadly).

Thanks for stopping by to comment today.

Stay safe out there.
