Thoughts For Thursday...
The REALLY nice days we've enjoyed this week are slowly going away, and in it's place is warmer conditions (oh, please).
Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us mostly sunny skies, temps climbing back into the low 80s and no rain that I've heard about...yet.
Now, let's all get that refreshing drink, as we see what else has been going on...
*** First off the driveway is the answer to yesterday's WHO SAID THAT? quote:
"I have never written that there is a threat of fascism in America. I always considered the idea overwrought. But now I believe there really is such a threat - and it will come draped not in an American flag, but in the name of tolerance and health."
This was spoken by someone I've only featured here ONCE before, Dennis Prager (born August 2, 1948) who is an American conservative radio talk show host and writer.
And HERE is his WIKI:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dennis_Prager
If you like conservatism, then you should well enjoy this man.
*** Next, it's our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
JULY 25 -
National Merry-Go-Round Day
(gee, ANOTHER political holiday?)
National Hot Fudge Sundae Day
(on a Thursday? Sure, why not?)
National Threading the Needle Day
(they need larger holes when you get older)
National Hire a Veteran Day
(and we should as often as possible)
National Wine and Cheese Day
(never to be confused with WHINE and cheese...lol)
National Refreshment Day
(shouldn't that be every day?)
National Chili Dog Day
(Hebrew national beef franks w/ chili...kismet!)
*** Of course we can't let a day pass in FTW without "Our Daily Shooting":
https://www.wane.com/news/local-news/police-shooting-victim-asks-neighbor-to-call-911/
This took place around 1430 hrs  at 415 Essex Lane in the Tara Cooperative apartments complex (near Coldwater and Washington Center Rd.)
A male showed up at a neighbor's house asking to have them call 911.
The injuries are non life-threatening.
*** More proof (as if we need any more) that crime is spreading in the Fort, and that it's affecting more people of my generation:
https://wpta21.com/news/2019/07/24/fort-wayne-man-says-two-men-attacked-him-after-trying-to-break-up-a-fight-man-left-unconscious-in-driveway/
This took place in the 2400 block of Maple Grove Av on Tuesday evening.
Marvin Sproul - injured innocent.
Yep, two women (read "girlrillaz") fighting in front of his house. When trying to break it up, the man gets beat up by two males (also black).
Any bets he starts carrying a firearm, in the future. I know I do.
*** Meanwhile, here's the latest Walter Williams column that speaks to much of the aforementioned stories:
http://walterewilliams.com/whats-most-important/
It's a wonderfully sobering read, and not just because I really like Mr. Williams, or that I get to see Fort Wayne's version of this "up close and personal" on a daily basis.
It's a sad sign of our times, and all too true.
*** Let's stop by our "Kitten Corner"...
The "children" were doing well with the more moderate weather.
Violet likes sleeping in this box.
While they did enjoy their nap time, they were also a lot less lethargic around the house. But there was no chasing around.
Gallifrey napped the day away.
And, neither of them took to getting in daddy's way, which makes me so relieved to not worry about tripping over them or stepping on them,.
*** It's time to check back in with "Midnight and Whiskers"...
"It's really nice out here."
The furry twosome again were near the house ALL day. I think I'm getting spoiled with such "attention".
Yes, they all made every meal as well as back step treats. When I go for the paper. Midnight is sitting alongside of it (so he gets treats). A "guard cat".
"I like the comfy weather!"
Whiskers is content to guard the garden (like those plants are going to escape)...lol.
"I get to lay on the table, too."
Caruso just wants a leg to rub against or a foot to flop down on.
He's easy enough to please.
*** Last back to the once nice neighborhood...it's sad to see the area you live in go down the crapper.
Time was, you knew without a doubt WHERE the "bad parts" of town were, and you could easily avoid them.
These days, you really can't tell, can you?.
Sure, we still have the "badlands" - areas that have been shitholes for years (and where police have supposedly more officers), but by and large, more areas are becoming questionable as far as who your neighbors are (or will become).
Such crimes, like the one mentioned above, come from that sense of entitlement where some people feel they can do anything anywhere, to anyone, and at any time.
That's NOT how a normal society works, but it IS how a system of anarchy develops.
I say make the tough choices, step on some toes, ruffle some feathers and DO SOMETHING about the growing crime problem. Fix our injustice system.
We've too many windows that have been allowed to become broken. We certainly don't need any more...right?
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Okay, finally made it to today. Quote from me: "I don't even know what words work for today. 'ridiculously stupid' jump to mind, though."

Wine and Cheese: Ha! A dear departed friend's favorite saying was, "Yo want some cheese with that whine?" Always brings a smile.

ODS: That's the underbelly of Laurie's Wal Mart. Wanna bet someone gets connected with the shooting there?

I'm sorry for Marvin, but if you see some of those 'family' fights that someone records and puts on SM, you know that involvement is best left to a cop with a gun.

Williams: I was right their with him, until that last half-sentence...
