Friday Follies - CHRISTMAS EDITION...
I was going to take a pass today, but decided that there were a few loose ends that needed some trimming, so here we go...
** First off, for those of you waiting to see Disney's Prep & Landing last night at 8PM, but instead saw Crook & Chase Christmas special...it wasn't MY fault.
The TV guide listed Prep & Landing, but some scrooge in programming at ABC decided that a childrens' show should take a back seat...on Christmas freakin' Eve!!!
Luckily, I had recorded the Disney show (sans commercials) on VHS (SLP speed for better quality) so, after Wifey and I watched GARFIELD'S CHRISTMAS, we sat back down and watched PREP AND LANDING...and then, to top it all off, we watched SCROOGE (Alistair Sim - 1951)...the COLORIZED VERSION. Then we finished the evening with IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE.
Now THAT is a full slate of holiday TV fare for the night BEFORE CHRISTMAS.
So take that, you programming idiots.
Add to that I was talking along with Bing Crosby & Danny Kaye during the WHITE CHRISTMAS marathon on AMC...
(yeah, by now, I do know most all the dialogue)
And, as Clark Griswold would say...."I made it".
So now, all I have to do is cook our dinner (Ham, of course), make up some 80 proof eggnog, and enjoy the holiday (in between the boomcars that I KNOW will be driving about, playing the latest CD stolen...I mean "purchased" for Christmas).
No snow today...just some rain, melting away the snow we had.
But it'll be getting colder to night, and that means ICE...(joy).
** Finally today, (and we'll make this short and sweet)...many Americans aren't as fortunate as we are to be home for the holidays, namely our warriors.
Take a moment to send along a greeting...there are plenty of websites to do this.
And while you're in the holiday spirit...maybe you can drop a donation to a homeless or animal shelter, orphanage, or any other place that needs your assistance this time of year.
Hell, stop by a grocery and get some food stuffs for the local food bank...
The cost to you is minimal, but the good your contribution will do is nothing less than overwhelming.
May today find you all in good cheer with a sincere hope that every one of us can make a difference...in our own lives, as well as in the lives of others.
Christmas blessings from our house...to yours.
Have a fantastic weekend full of good cheer.
And, in keeping with the situation...
Stay safe out there, America.
