Tuesday Tidbits...
Welcome to the remainder of our "abbreviated" week, and thankfully, we didn't see that severe weather we were supposed to get. Early rain did manage to keep things quiet in our area (always a welcome pleasure).
And it seems no matter how hard I try to wake up in a good mood, something comes along that shatters that prospect. We'll talk more on that in a bit.
Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us partly cloudy skies, temps topping out around 70 degrees (sweet), and the possibility of a shower throughout the day. Keep an umbrella handy, just in case...you never know.
So, what say we get busy with a nice refreshing drink, as we see what else has been going on, hmm?
*** First off of the table top is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
SEPTEMBER 5 -
---It's National Another Look Unlimited Day
(think of it as spring cleaning for the fall)
---It's National Cheese Pizza Day
(I think I could do this every day...with the right pizza)
*** Next, and since it is a Tuesday, let's get a look at all the police calls we don't hear about, because the media is crying the blues over a possible repeal of the DACA act...

Still have our share of pyrotechnic putzes, don't we?
*** Next, a 5 hour standoff nets one. Here's the link:
http://www.journalgazette.net/article/20170905/WEB/170909939
Short story, few facts, still investigating...why bother policing  if you're only going to investigate?
*** Next up, a "startling" (?) fact comes to light. Here's the story link:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/20170905/drug-use-on-rise-among-area-youth
Drug use among our youth on the rise (sighs)...why does this NOT surprise me?
((It's likely Allen County schools, which did not participate last year, influenced the 2017 survey for the region. The survey is voluntary and big school districts dominate the results))
What bothers me, is that they lump in cigarettes and alcohol with marijuana as a "gateway" drug...
You can do better than THAT, folks. That's picking some major nits there.
“It is clear that we need to begin talking to parents so that they can effectively educate their children about the risks facing children today – not the same social settings or drugs that we were potentially exposed to back in the day,” said Deborah McMahan, Allen County Health commish.
Should have been talking to parents a long time ago, but we've been busy (with the youth) handing out participation trophies and excusing bad behavior in our schools...haven't we? Results of a PERMISSIVE society.
*** Next up, (and the reason for my angst) I like reenactments...been to the 130th anniversary of Gettysburg AT Gettysburg. It was fantastic!
Nothing like BEING there.
I have a VHS tape I made of the event and a personal tour.
I was even thinking of becoming a reenactor, but the cost for the basics was around a thousand bucks (period garb and gear). That was more than I could muster at the time. I did purchase a .44 caliber 1861 replica Colt pistol (it is a REAL firearm) and holster (for less than $200 brand new)
I used to also regularly attend the meeting of the GAR in Philly (Grand Army of the Republic...reenactors - men and women).
Once a month, they'd hold an event and demonstrate not only how people fought, but how they LIVED.
The entire aspect of "living history" has always intrigued me, so when I see stories such as THIS one, it tends to royally piss me the hell off. Here's the link:
http://www.journalgazette.net/features/20170905/re-enactments-may-be-history
Yes, this is nothing more than evidence of a "domino effect" from the idiots who want to deny history, and get offended whenever a butterfly flaps it's wings...effin' assholes.
Now, this may not represent ALL reenactors, as the story comes from Michigan, but I've met such people from MANY states (representing both union and confederate) at Gettysburg, and these people are passionate about making sure that history is remembered and NOT forgotten.
We may be running of generation wanting to keep that ball rolling, and that will be a real crime.
Who then will speak for those who actually LIVED through that era?
*** Next, time to drop by "Kitten Corner"...
Violet gets serious.
Our kids were once again rather calm most of the day, and even when the rain came (with thunder and some lightning), they didn't budge much. They just use the time to nap...
And who can blame them?
In between that and meals, they spent some time sharing their affection between Wifey and myself.
Gallifrey gets sleepy
Something soothing about a cat purring while you stroke their fur...
*** Next up, time to check in on "Midnight and Company"...
Okay, so  have ourselves another "stand-in" for Midnight (while he gets better at the AC&C facility. They seem to be lining up at the dinner plate, in fact.
They should realize this is not a permanent gig, but, it gives me more choices in the interim...lol.
As for Whiskers (Cinnamon)? She's around all day, trying to pick up the slack from her partner being absent.
And, she was in the shelter when it rained last evening, staying dry.
Wifey had a video of her in the tree on the patio...that was kinda amazing to see.
We also had some laser-time with her before the rain came and it got too dark.
I think she misses having her black-furred buddy around, too.
*** Last back to the pantry, people have to start making their voice heard...now!
I'm not talking about the libtards and their agenda, because they've BEEN getting the majority of time in print and on video.
That's getting REAL boring real fast (to me).
I'm waiting to see people of good conscience and good character coming to the forefront of our society.
We're allowing the wrong people to run the show, and it's counterproductive (except when it come to the socialist rhetoric), and those who need to be heard are being stifled in the name of "tolerance"...that's utter bullshit.
Stemming the tide of extremist violence will be the hardest part to diffuse when it comes to getting the truth out.
These radicals need to find some deserted island, move there and practice their particular form of anarchy, because it has no place in our society...or our nation.
While they're at it, they can take all the damn law-breakers with them. That includes any politicians who fit the bill.
We seriously need to get OUR country back on track, because there just might be a cliff waiting for us around the next bend.
And that won't end pretty for any of us...will it?
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

So jealous. I would love to go to that reenactment. Someday. You need to put a huge wall around your fortress and a moat. Those shots fired are crazy. Or maybe everyone in your city likes fireworks? Be good to your cats.

---Truth is, I'm jealous because I haven't been back there in quite a while. The event I attended was way back in 1993.
Walked my legs off and spent some time on a wagon watching and recording the Pickett's Charge recreation...helluva deal there!
Over 35,000 reenactors participated!
---Love to erect that wall AND moat, but city code won't allow the variances...LOL.
---Always good to the cats...and they are good to us. We got that Golden Rule thing going on....and the cats NEVER read the Bible!
(how's about that?)

Thanks for taking time to roll on up today and comment.

Stay safe down there, dear.

Guess I know what to have for din-din now...

I remember reading the story on the Moeller Rd shooting, in that dumpy trailer park we used to live in. I'm thinking it was an accidental.

I have to agree with cigs and alcohol's gateway status. Plus, there is a LARGE connection between alcohol and not being able to give up cigarettes. Anything that can hook you is by definition a gateway to something worse that can hook you.

People who oppose re-enactments prove the stupidity of their cause and the lack of depth of their learning. God, how I wish we still had a society intelligent enough to just tell them, "You're an idiot, go away." But as the water level of intelligence goes down, the old logs of pure stupidity continue to surface.

The videos were fun, except that as I first turned on the sound during the live shoot, I heard a MOOO (D explained it was an app notification, but I was waiting for you to come around the corner with horns on, lol!).

There is a very real correlation between our current society and that of ol' Nimrod. Back then, they were at a point where common language was about to let mankind do whatever they wanted to by working together- and since it wouldn't have been good (fallen man and all), God confused the language. And now, just when so many people have internet access and translation software, a new "golden age" might have been upon us- but God scattered our opinions, and nobody hears each other anymore. Unpleasant comparison to ponder...

Chris:
---My guess is...cheese PIZZA?
---Might have been accidental. And with trailers, the bullets can easily go through several before they stop.
(glad you're outta there)
---Maybe we can agree to disagree there. I do cigs and when it comes to booze, I got DUST on the bottles (except for the several beers in the fridge. Never pursued anything STRONGER...no real need to.
Yeah, vice is still vice...I hear 'ya.
---Now THAT is exactly what I'm seeing here.
I also wish we had that society...concerned people DO need to speak up AGAINST such insanity.
---LOL...I don't "moo" any longer...gave that up for Lent and never looked back (not bad for a Protestant)...lol.
---That is a wonderful point of fact. I never thought of it that way, but it makes complete and total sense.
The new "common language" IS the Internet, and yes, our opinions HAVE been contextually tossed to the four winds.

Hey, thanks much for taking time to drop by today to comment.

Stay safe (give Scrappy a hug for us) up there, brother.
