Well, we made it to another weekend, in spite of the idiocy which seems to be running rampant across the globe.
That's no small achievement, folks.
And, it looks like a decent couple days lies before us.
Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us partly to mostly skies, temps reaching to around 36 degrees, and light breezes keeping the wind chill active. Dress accordingly and drive carefully in case of slick spots.
Now, let's all get ourselves some Friday Fortitude poured, as we see what else has been going one...
*** First out of the icy cold pond is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
MARCH 9 -
---It's National Barbie Day
(wonder how the gender-neutrals among us deal with this?)
---It's National Crab Meat Day
(and please keep that coming along with the drawn butter)
---It's the National Day of Unplugging
(hey, they wanted us all to GET plugged in the first place)
---It's National Get Over It Day
(this IS America - liberals and socialists take note)
---It's National Meatball Day
(a nice hot meatball sandwich would make a good breakfast)
*** Next up, and since the end of the week has arrived, let's see what observances will be coming our way over the following 48 hours, shall we?
MARCH 10 -
---Saturday is National Blueberry Popover Day
(blueberries are cool)
---It's National Mario Day
(all those wasted hours with Nintendo, right?)
---It's National Pack Your Lunch Day
( shouldn't this be during the WORK WEEK?)
---It's National Women and Girls HIV-AIDS Awareness Day
(okay, I'm aware of it...happy now?)
`MARCH 11 -
---Sunday is Daylight Saving Time
(a useless venture that makes no sense, and too little money for too few)
---It's National Johnny Appleseed Day
(and here I thought it was closer to September)
---It's National Oatmeal Nut Waffles Day
(sounds like it might be good)
---It's National Promposal Day
(yeah, I think it's nonsense, too)
---It's National Worship of Tools Day
(okay, THIS is more like it)
And there we go then...plenty to tkae not of. DO remember to observe responsibly.
*** Next, this happens to come out of the "Only in California" Department files.
Here's the link to the story:
http://www.businessinsider.com/mcdonalds-flips-arches-upside-down-2018-3
Yeah, they celebrated international women's day...how quaint.
Those flipped arches remind me of sagging boobs from an elderly woman, if anything.
Wonder if all the burgers came out upside down as well?
You have to remember that much iof this state IS upside down in many ways, not the least of which is politics and what it means to be an AMERICAN.
*** Next, I have to admit that this recent "lull" in local crime (that we're made aware of, that is), is starting to spoil me.
Blocking sidewalks. This is almost a DAILY affair. |
Parking Control - parked. |
Parked correctly - a true FIRST for this guy |
*** Next up, we may be enjoying less criminal activity, but we still have fires breaking out. Here's the story:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/police-fire/20180309/apartment-fire-injures-2
This took place at the Golfview Apartments, located on St. Joe Rd around 1643 hrs yesterday.
((Officials didn't know where or how the fire started, but a large hole was cut from the top of the building and many people escaped from the second story of the two-story structure.))
Two people suffered minor injuries.
((One escapee, Donn Price, waited for her daughter to come home from school on St. Joe Road, which was blocked off from Evard Road to the north to St. Joe Center Road to the south with only limited traffic.
Price said she saw one older man being evacuated out of a two-story window and taken away on a stretcher by emergency workers. Price said she believed the fire started from a lit cigarette left on a couch. She added that the building is smoke-free.
She also estimated that about 20 to 24 units were affected by the fire.))
Now, this IS speculation (on her part), but it also smacks of a problem a few other complexes had with (careless) smoking in building that are supposed to be NON-smoking...and those apartments were minority-occupied. I'm just sayin'...
It's not a cheap facility, but the fair housing act takes care oif such things for certain folks.
*** Next, time to swing by our "Kitten Corner"...
We're not REALLY crazy... |
If they could predict the weather, that would be okay, but right now, they just REACT to it...lol.
(kinda like my joints...ouch)
She's right...we're not. |
*** Next up, let's check in with "Midnight and Company"...
The furry twosome were once again ready and waiting for "breakfast" yesterday morning.
And neither of them missed a meal. At last call, Midnight came running (literally) up the back yard to get his grub. Whiskers beat the rush and was on the patio already.
Had to also defrost the water dish, thanks to mother nature.
What? I'm getting an early start to the waiting... |
*** Last back to the futon...once again, we have to endure the shift in time AHEAD one hour.
(I still miss when you used to NOT do that in Indiana)
Back in Philly, we always had to change teh clocks, and changing watches used to be a LOT easier (no batteries - just pull the stem, reverse or advance the hands, press the stem back in and PRESTO...done (in under a minute).
Now, with battery-driven everything, you have to muck through a "menu" of sorts to change time on your watch, which, if you hit the button too few or too many times, you screw it all up and have to start over.
But, all that aside, what do we REALLY again by this shifting of time?
Do we come out with a superior feeling that "we" are mastering time itself?
(that's the realm of GOD...and also Time Lords...not mere humans...lol)
Are we saving money? Not by the look of things.
So what of the sun comes up earlier or alter when WE change our clocks...the sun, moon and stars will continue to do what THEY do, regardless of our "intervention".
Yet, as the meddling humans we are, we just can't seem to let it alone.
Perhaps THAT is why we have as many (other) problems as we do...we cannot leave things (or people) alone when they need to be left alone. Seems there's a more important message attached to that, right?
Have yourselves a good weekend.
Be well, make a difference to someone today, and as always...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Barbie: Why, by filing down her boobs and putting her in hot pants and a Ken shirt...
Get Over It- just saw Mad Jack's glancing blow to that...
About two hours later- Shenan came over with botfriend Soybean, and two Golden Monkeys lie dead on my table... but let's see if we can do this.
Sunday is DST- every time I think of this, I see myself kicking Mitch Daniels in the butt...
We've played this J Appleseed game before... I'll wait till September....
Never went to my prom... no regrets there...
Worship of tools? At least we know this is a Tim Allen creation.
So the McDs thing was a thing? I thought when Strayer posted about it on FB, it was a joke... and he had much the same take...
Chris:
---Are you bending those gender-specific toys again? LOL.
---Jack is not alone in that...It's becoming one of MY personal favorite sayings.
---Seems those Golden Monkeys are brutal to the wrong people.
---Yeah, we haven't saved anything worth noting since the change (imho).
---I agree...too early ion the year.
---Ditto for me and the prom.
---I can run with that as well, although I stop short of creating an "altar" to or for them.
---Yep...it's real (and only in the land of fruits and nuts will you find it).
Thanks for stopping by t comment.
Have yourselves a good weekend and stay safe up there, brother.
