Tuesday Tidbits...
I'm sure many of you are still getting used to the time "shift", and I'm no exception.
It just feeld more wrong this year than in years past...can't explain it, either.
You get this feeling like you're behind your time, which indeed we are for a few months.
In any event, we'll muddle through this until we get comfortable with it...and then have tio change the clocks BACK to where they should be...just can't win, can we"?
Our Hoosierland weather today bring us a little more cold outside, with scattered snow showers (no accumulation, so they say), and temps reaching to only 35 degrees with windy conditions.
Dress accordingly, and drive carefully.
Now, let's get this show on the road with a nice hot cup of coffee, tea, or cocoa, as we see what else has been going on...
*** First off of the breakfast table is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
MARCH 13 -
---It's National Coconut Torte Day
(another entry in my breakfast carousel)
---It's National Earmuff Day
(might want to have these early on today)
---It's National Good Samaritan Day
(sure beats those BAD Samaritans...heh)
---It's National Jewel Day
(something the SE side of Ft. Wayne will never be in the city's crown)
---It's National K-9 Veteran Day
(let's never forget the 4-footed vets out there)
---It's National Open An Umbrella Indoors Day
(only if you need to dry it out)
*** Next up (and because it is Tuesday), let's look at ALL the FWPD calls from last week that none of us heard about.

FIREWORKS CALLS - MAR 5 - MAR 11:
18F027035 03/09/2018 09:58pm 44FW 4000 KNIGHTWAY DR
There just HAS to be ONE asshole, doesn't there?
*** Next, a robbery WAY back on 21 FEB  in the good old SE side. Here's the story:
http://wane.com/2018/03/12/police-search-for-alleged-robber/
Oh, after all this time, NOW police want our help?
Looks like a BLACK guy to me, too.
You know, the BEST way to get the public involved to aid in the capture of such perps is to LET THEM KNOW ASAP  after the crime. These jerkoffs could be (back) in Michigan or Chicago, for all we know.
*** Next up, some people are trying to stave OFF potential crime. here's that story:
http://wane.com/2018/03/11/st-joe-township-housing-developments-opposed/
A proposed housing development in St. Joe Township is getting a lot of NEGATIVE reaction from residents.
Now, while the developer "claims" the housing would be "upscale", you have to read between the lines. The Fair Housing Act doesn't allow discrimination, so that means that ANYONE could move to this area (if it's built up).
Section 8 doesn't always mean FREE housing...it often means LOW-cost housing, and that means government "assistance" to help pay the rent, so instead of plunking down $800 a month, those people might only pay HALF of that (or even less).
THIS is what residents want to avoid, and deservedly so.
*** Next, Indiana Tech has a commencement speaker coming who is a pastor (imagine that). Here's the story:
http://www.news-sentinel.com/news/local-news/2018/03/12/leader-in-preventing-youth-gun-violence-to-be-main-speaker-at-indiana-techs-commencement-ceremony-in-fort-wayne/
This pastor has good credentials when it comes to keeping youth from violence. Indy has it's own issues (as does any city with larger minority populations), and whatever help can be had to stem the tide of violent behavior is a welcome thing.
Changing hearts and minds IS a daunting task, especially when the world draws these kids into it at younger ages.
*** Next up, an update to a recent drug raid. Here's the link:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/courts/20180313/atf-raids-lead-to-drug-gun-charges
Another batch of LOSERS.
This was that foursome dealing fentanyl, crack, and meth from yesterday's post:
((At 4:32 a.m. Thursday, city police and the federal Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives tactical team served a search warrant at 808 Oaklawn Court after a federal case alleged that someone was dealing fentanyl out of the residence, court records said. Fentanyl is a prescription drug 50 times more powerful than heroin and considered lethal.
The renter, Justice Kyara Harvey, 23, acknowledged that someone named Curtis had lived there since September or October and had dealt fentanyl from there at least three times, court documents said.))
This is the apartment complex near Hanna and Wallace Sts.
*** Next, let's leave this crap behind and instead visit our "Kitten Corner"...
Taking things easy...for a change.
The kids were very good yesterday, which was a wonderful relief to Wifey and myself.
While they did have a few brief spells of running about, there was none of that raucous behavior that took place Sunday.
Saw a show that says domestic cats can reach speeds of 30 MPH, which seems about the right speed that Gallifrey was moving when he jumped onto the sofa in the family room, startling me.
Luckily, both he and Violet can also stop on a dime (and give you 9 cents change).
*** Next up, time to check in with "Midnight and Company"...
Our fearless furry twosome were up against the house yesterday, and they pretty much stayed there when not being fed. They like the straw bed I put down.
Neither of them got too wet either when that goofy snow came down in the morning.
Almost kissin' cousins?
Later in the day when the sun came out, they were really enjoying that, and who can blame them?
It was a good finish to an otherwise blah kinda day.
*** Last back to the patio table...I hear we have another one of those "student walkouts" over the Florida school shooting on Valentine's Day. Now, how is this educating the "youts" of America?
And how is this making schools safer by protesting guns (which you all know it really is about)?
With the recent deaths due to package bombs in Austin, Twxas, it shoots down (no pun intended) the premise that GUNS are the problem, as the misinformed will allege.
ANYTHING can be used as a weapon, and most likely, the devices in TX might well be made of everyday household items, or someone can take apart some ammo and use the guts of the rounds.
The uni-bomber was a person with a high IQ, but you don't HAVE to be that smart to do nasty stuff.
You just need to be smart enough to not blow yourself up in the process (something the members of the old Weather Underground found out the hard way in the '60s).
We need to not go after the tools used in such crimes, because that will only force the perps to use something else.
Rather, we need to find out the CAUSES of what takes a normal mind and heart...and turns them to evil intent.
That becomes the real issue, and when we manage to work to that end, usable solutions to that problem can be found a lot more readily. We won't find out until we TRY that, will we?
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Can't say the time change fazed us in the least- but I do have a friend whose med sched and her one child's also were thrown off.

This afternoons weather: Bright sunshine and blinding snowfall, every 15 minutes...

Coconut- UGGGGH!

Wow- the Doctor Gangs were quiet. All in the hooskow, perchance?

Good for Tech!

"Rather, we need to find out the CAUSES of what takes a normal mind and heart...and turns them to evil intent." Easy to diagnose... hard to fix.

Chris:
---There are always exceptions to the change in time...and some can be a REAL problem (like the med schedules).
---I know...weird, huh?
We even had a SUNFLURRY down here!
What's next? Thunbdersnow?
---Ah, c'mon...coconut's good for 'ya...lol.
---Yeah, it was a pretty quiet week, except for two consecutive nights WE heard gunshots...and NO ONE reported them (no FWPD cars roaming about afterwards, either0.
Gotta feel REAL safe with THAT stuff.
---Yeah, Indiana Tech got it right. Like to see FWCS do likewise. (yes, I can still dream).
---Hard to fix is LOTS better than all the "impossible" we seem to be surrounded by with most of the rhetoric.
As a black Baptist pastor friend of mine from several lifetimes ago would say:
"THEY NEEDS JESUS!"

I rest our case there.

Thanks for taking time to stop by and comment.

Stay safe (and not snow-blind) up there, brother.
