30 May 2018

Humpday Happenings...
Looks like we might be getting a break from the heat...just not from the humidity.
Funny, I could have sworn this was MAY...not late JULY.
If you're near a lake (or any other beach), you're liking this, and that's fine
Our Hooiserland weather for today brings us mostly cloudy skies, temps reaching to around 84 degrees, and a very good chance of scattered rain showers throughout the day, and that means humidity out the wazoo (funny, it's sunny outside right now).
I think we'd best get that refreshing beverage of choice poured, so we can at least be wet on the inside. With that dispensed with, lets set about seeing what else has been going on...
*** First off of the rooftop is our WHO SAID THAT? quote for the week:
"Bias and prejudice are attitudes to be kept in hand, not attitudes to be avoided."
There you are...short and sweet, and wonderfully "in tune" with a lot of what we're being exposed to these days.
So, who said that? The answer at the top of tomorrow's post.
Meanwhile, back at the Kaw Nation...
*** Next up, time for the "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
MAY 30 -
---It's National Creativity Day
(like how the gov't gets creative with our tax money?)
---It's National Hole in My Bucket Day
(does a hole in my bucket LIST count, dear Liza?)
---It's National Loomis Day
(yeah,. it's a telegraph thing)
---It's National Mint Julep Day
(okay, now we're talking a good drink)
---It's National Senior Health and Fitness Day
('d rather go with the mint julep)
---It's National Water a Flower Day
(I'll get Mother Nature right on that one)
*** Next, Roseanne gets cancelled after an insensitive tweet:
https://www.msn.com/en-us/tv/news/sitcom-e2-80-98roseanne-e2-80-99-canceled-by-abc-hours-after-racist-tweet-by-barr/ar-AAxZnxP?ffid=gz
See Dan...liberals really DO suck.
Now, I've never been a fan of Roseanne (or her show), but I'm not seeing anything worth the cancellation of her (reboot) show here.
Valerie Jarrett was one of Obummer's hacks and perhaps that reference to her and the planet of the apes (by Barr) was a bit much...simply because I think it was an INSULT to the apes.
Not your fault, Zira.
Roseanne becomes the latest victim of liberal-controlled social media.
God forbid you have the courage to say what's on your mind THESE days.
*** Next up, more liberal "social engineering"...with caffeine and sugar.
http://www.wpta21.com/story/38294036/starbucks-starts-closing-stores-for-anti-bias-training
BLM is behind this? What a surprise.
Anti bias training? How about people start learning to let stupid stuff GO, rather than create mountains out of damn mole hills on a daily basis?
I NEED one of these.
That's why I make my OWN coffee...and say WHAT I please when drinking it.
Less costly ALL the way around, if you ask me.
*** Next, our mayor (King Henry) touts ALL the roads that are being fixed...so what happened here?
http://www.wane.com/news/local-news/heat-causes-road-to-buckle/1204942923
Certainly, an "oops" moment?
You might brag that you're doing 20 miles of road repair each year, but...20 miles of crap is STILL crap, your majesty.
*** Next up,  they started the alley replacement (repair) in the next block UP from us...
Funny thing, I went out to ask how long their truck would block our driveway. The black fellow said "Not long, sir".
SIR??? Well, you just got MY vote for "Wonderful Person of the Week"!
I used to reply "don't call me sir...I work for a living". Used to be an old NCO saying.
I thanked him and then said that I had an idea for ALL the 8 inch thick concrete slabs they were tearing up.
I said: "how's about this...why not accidentally SLIDE the slabs down a block and place them in OUR alley, so we don't have ALL the ruts and potholes from the traffic there."
Well, that got a laugh  from ALL of us and he said "you know, that's not a bad idea". I said "Sure, you don't have to get rid of it, just slide it down a bit....good all around, That's cool right?". He replied "heh, that's not half bad.".
Leave 'em smiling, I always say. But it's easy when you share life experiences.
And these fine gentlemen are an example of  not being afraid to get one's hands dirty to make some honest money.
I can SO relate to that...and so should ALL the "locals" around here.
*** Next, Indiana schools to get TWO grades?
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/indiana/20180529/schools-to-get-2-separate-grades
Anyone think that spreading crap thinner makes it smell less is mistaken. FWCS should learn something from that.
*** Next up, Kevin Leininger has a very good column that demonstrates that a city council member CAN be helpful when it comes to finding out the truth.
http://www.news-sentinel.com/news/local-news/2018/05/29/kevin-leininger-riding-on-a-garbage-truck-used-to-be-childs-play-now-its-all-in-the-line-of-duty-for-city-council-member/
Imagine that...a "ride-along" with Red River...and then finding out that part of the reason for missed pickups is exactly what I said...people DID NOT place the bins out at the PROPER TIME (or day)...!
Amazing what you find when searching for the truth, isn't it? Or, you could just ask me.
*** Next, have we come to this in Fort Wayne?
http://www.news-sentinel.com/news/local-news/2018/05/29/you-can-help-name-machine-that-will-dig-fort-waynes-deep-rock-tunnel/
Do we really need a NAME for the bloody tunnel digging machine? Are we "adopting" it?
We have too much crime, infrastructure issues, tap water that's smelling like a creek (again), an entire quadrant of the city halfway down the crapper (with another quadrant soon to follow), And we have a contest to name the digger.
Seriously? THAT is what is important?  Anyone (downtown) familiar with the word PRIORITIES?
*** Next up, time to drop by "Kitten Corner"...
A good day to take it easy...
The kids were doing okay with the heat, but they were INDOORS, so the point is relatively moot.,
Lemme join you with that.
Still, they take some time to nap...about 16 hours each day (most days).
I think they would do more, but they also like to eat, pee, and poop.
*** Next, let's check in once again with "Midnight and Company"...
I iz watchin' everyone.
The furry twosome spent another day away from the patio (for the most part), but neither of them missed a meal.
(funny how that works)
You did good...can I haz treats now?
Midnight did a bit of supervising while I mowed the side lawn, but even that tired him out and had him retreat to someplace shady.
Whiskers just stayed a bit closer by and when it was getting dark, was near the house a lot more.
Nice to not have to call them constantly, especially since WE are their "meal ticket".
*** Last back the basement (where it's much cooler)...these days, society goes from one thing to another...and with greater rapidity..
Soitenly...!
It's like there is no REAL direction (to this), and certainly no direction that would signify an improvement to our society in general and people in particular.
If it's not bias, then it's equality, or not knowing the difference between RIGHTS and PRIVILEGES.
And naturally, you always have to inject SOME level of politics into whatever is the talking point du jour.
I try to not get involved in this, because you simply cannot debate or converse in a reasonable manner with IDIOTS.
I have my own views on a great many things. You want to know about them? ASK ME.
But be warned that I speak from experience, reason, and the passion for finding the truth to any matter.
Oh, and there might be a dose of morality tossed in (being a follower of the living God does that to people).
A shame you can't act likewise with everyone. You'd think with ALL the different viewpoints, that would be interesting.
No, it's TEDIOUS (at best).
It would be so nice to be able to interact as we did in decades past, but such notions have fast become a lost art.
Still, doesn't hurt to hope...does it?
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

I did laps around work at lunch today. With the breeze, it was really pretty nice.

That quote is not getting through to me... I may have to have some context to get it. Or a Pepsi..

"(like how the gov't gets creative with our tax money?)" No, you have to start with intelligence...

Hah! You beat me to it on the bucket...

Hey, I took a health walk! One day down...

Did you hear part two of the Roseanne story on Rush? involving the makers of Ambien and the Drudge Report?

Starbucks: Maybe they should change it to BBMM... Black bowel movements matter...

Roads: And today, several water main breaks on recently repaired north Clinton...

Alley crew: See, there are SOME people you can get along with ;) ;)

I vote name it Tapeworm... appropriate in so many directions...

Chris:
---The closest I got to that was watching the outdoor cats LAP up some water...heh.
(this WAS after I moved out front early on)
---Well, let's say the person is another "first", as was his distinction to the office he held (that we NEVER heard about).
---That's right...you have to BE INTELLIGENT before you can practice your creativity...thank you.
---We must have similar "buckets".
---I only caught part of it, but I got the general gist of the Ambien (which I never also use).
---LMAO...Now THAT's pretty damn CREATIVE!
---Recently repaired. huh?
Looks like that 20 miles of crap is a tad longer than we were told.
---I can mostly get along with ANYONE 9as long as they have a brain (and more than a few functioning synapses).
It's the DUMBASSES (and a lot of liberals) I refuse to waste my time with.
I have this BIAS with STUPID PEOPLE...sue me...heh.
---LOL...like that. They already have several "names" to choose from...all of them stink to high heaven (imho).

Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

Stay safe (and dry) up there, brother.
