Tuesday Tidbits...

Got us another sparkling day here in the Heartland
In fact, it's as close to a carbon copy of yesterday as you're going to get.
Any day you can get away without having to run either the furnace OR the central air is a (financial) blessing in my book.
Our Hoosierland weather for today will bring us plenty of sunshine (there's that sunrise they spoke of), temps reaching to around 77 degrees, and no hint of precipitation. A shame it won't last.

Now, what say we get ourselves that refreshing morning beverage, as we see what else has been going on in "all the old familiar places", hmm?

*** Next, and speaking of idiots, someone decided to take a "roof ride" on (where else?) the SOUTH side yesterday. Here's the link:

All that's known is that police are looking for two OTHER teens.
And if this neighborhood looks peaceful enough...don't let it fool you.

This is the 6000 blk of Chaddsford Dr, and that's near Hanna and Paulding...in our part of the ghettohood. Actually, the dandelions on the lawns let you know many of the "people" infesting the area don't give a damn...much like a lot of those near us...but you already knew that.

So, Ohio law enforcement tends to use drug dogs MORE with blacks than others?
Could it be that when someone is pulled over for speeding, or erratic driving, failure to signal, or a busted head or tail light,  that the (black) driver might be a mule for drugs from somewhere else?
If it catches drug pushers, that's fine by me.
If it inconveniences a few people along the way...tough. "Life sucks...get a helmet" - Denis Leary..
That's called law-ENFORCEMENT for a reason (something we could use a LOT more of here)
*** Next up, our "neighbors" were being "busy" yesterday...busy being assholes, that is.

Now, I'm always saying we need MORE police in the neighborhood, but I didn't envision this:
After 1145 hrs, I saw not ONE...

Not TWO...

But THREE...three FWPD vehicles parked out front.

I wold Wifey. "I didn't do anything...I'm just unloading the plants from the car."
(we had just returned from a sojourn to Menards and Broadview)
Seems we have this "couple" cribbing together...she likes to stab (him) and he's a former sex offender who loves to shout (at her)...a PERFECT match for any ghettohood.
After 40 minutes, the police finally leave (no arrests, as usual), but that's not the end of this...

A couple hours later, the police are BACK next door...AGAIN. This time only TWO vehicles showed up.

And again...NO arrests. Talk about some major codependency at work here. No one presses charges and yet someone called the police. How the hell does that work again? Please explain it to me, because I have trouble when it comes to blithering idiots.
I think the police need to get these two separated before one (or both) of them gets hurt (or worse).
Be nice to rid our block of them, but then, you never know WHAT will move into the house in their stead.
*** Next, about that sojourn I mentioned ...Wifey and I took a run out to Menards and got some stuff (including flowers and plants).

We also got some LED bulbs for a swag light we have in the family room...nice and BRIGHT now. And, we got a new alarm clock for the bedroom. I took the 20+ year old clock radio out to the garage to replace the ancient one that had an "unfortunate accident" a couple months back when it refused to play the ONE station I listen to - the classical station (hey, shit happens), and THAT replacement radio plays wonderfully (don't need the clock out there anyway).
So, while at Menards garden area, we see a DUCK wandering about. And she flies up onto a table we were near and went to resting among the flowers.

A "novel" idea for a customer service rep.?

Wifey asked a saleswoman: "Is the DUCK for sale?" (her sense of humor is getting more like mine...scary, huh?...lol)
We made off with a nice haul there, but Wifey wasn't done, and wanted to drive over to Broadview Nursery, which we did.

The cart was FILLED before we left.

Now THAT haul was intense...in all, we spent over a "C-Note" total, and after returning home, took to getting the stuff placed in the various pots we have on the patio. Today, we do out front (while I mow the side lawn). Hence the tardiness of today's post.
Now, if the "locals" just decide to behave themselves...all will be well.
*** Next up, time to drop by our "Kitten Corner"...

"I'm just tired from WATCHING."

The kids were curious as to why both of us were outside so much yesterday (they're not into gardening), and spent time at the back door and patio door watching us.

Is that a feline Pilates pose?

It must have tuckered them out, because both of them napped a LOT later in the day.
Yeah, Wifey and I napped too. gardening can be tiring, even if you're just a spectator.
*** Next, let's check in with "Midnight and Company"...

Enjoying some nice weather.

Our furry twosome were close by most of the day. He stayed in among the resurrection lily bed, while she went on a patrol, missing her lunch.

"Should I save some for later?"

They're both there for breakfast and dinner, so it's not a total loss for any of them (I cheat a bit and feed Whiskers when she comes back). Midnight is not left out, either. I sit with him outside a lot.
*** Last back to the checkout counter...I think you can either go through life with a sense of enjoyment and accomplishment, or go through it being a problem to everyone else.

Those living around us are proof of the latter.
Now, our little slice of paradise is something Wifey and I work at...and we've done it for the past 20+ years.
Sure, it costs some scratch, but it's worth it for us and anyone else who views it.

This excludes those who can't see past their next welfare check, crack rock, or fast food meal.
Such people only concern themselves with feeding their hedonistic desires, being tossed through life by any wind blowing from any direction. That's not living all that much. It's more like existing.
We ALL exist (even with some, that COULD be contested), but what we choose to put into life is what gives it the meaning we seek.
Maybe we won't succeed all the time...no one really does, but it's the ATTEMPT to make our lives better that drives many of us to become better.
Any success winds up as the icing on the cake when we're trying...and learning...and challenging ourselves.
To do any less is to deny oneself part of the greatest gift we have...and that is life itself.
Like everything  else, even that doesn't last forever, so we'd best make the MOST of what we have for as long as we can.
