Tuesday Tidbits...

Yes, I know...ANOTHER hazy, hot, and humid day. Guess we'd better get used to it, hmm?
And those showers we were supposed to get never materialized, did they?
Never fear...today might be a bit better (just not by all that much).
Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us partly sunny skies, temps rising to around 89 degrees, and another "chance" of rain showers sometime during the latter half of the day (seeing is believing anymore).
Until then, I'll go with little to NO chance, kapeesh?

Rot in jail

This took place in Cleveland, and Demetrius Putts, 48, is the person now cooling his flip-flop clad heels in jail.
This loser wanted to target children of military families with remote-control cars laden with shrapnel (during 4th of July activities).
HOW effin screwed up is THIS beast? And how much would you bet that neither of these perps gets the death sentence?

The LEOS in this county seem to know what the Broken Window Theory is all about. They responded to a NOISE complaint. (and I'll bet it didn't take up tp 45 minutes to arrive on scene). Underage drinking was taking place at the location in the story, and 19 juveys were busted along with 5 adults. Bet it's nice and QUIET there now!

Here in Ft. Wayne, noise is all too chronic, and yet, how many people REALLY get arrested for disturbing the quiet repose of others?
Very few, I'd wager...time to take a page from La Grange's playbook and apply it HERE.

It would appear that our king isn't done screwing his subjects here in the Summit City, and wants to chase after a FOURTH TERM in the mayor''s chair.
Some monarchs never seem to learn. It's times like this that I really miss the late Dan Turkette and his unique perspective on how Henry has "taken care" of this city (and his bank account as the highest paid mayor in the STATE)..
I for one, certainly do NOT want to hear "four more years" of the same old hackneyed rhetoric about  a "point of destination" or that other one - "quality-of-life". It's all been smoke and mirrors for the last decade (but we're getting a fantastic new DOWNTOWN)
BIG FAT HAIRY EFFIN DEAL, people!

Nothing this man has done since he's been mayor has netted us ANYTHING worthwhile on the SOUTH side in general and the SE side in particular. Remember, it's under HIS watch that we had a record number of homicides and rising crime (but we did get a good number of refugees from Myanmar in return).

Your highness...just retire to your life of leisure as the lowly Squire of the Fort...and let someone else try their hand at unf$cking this mess you and your most recent predecessors created. You were a much better councilman.

The kids had another good day, with plenty of taking it easy (which is quickly becoming MY favorite pastime).

And we even held still for daddy's picture.

Sure, it was hot outside, but it was a nice temperature inside, where it mattered to them.
And neither of them went "missing"...I'd call that a win all around.

I iz tryin to be chillin all day

Our furry twosome spent a lot of the day close to their adopted home, which always makes me at ease, especially when I see a neighbor with some dog off the leash roaming about with some kids.

It FINALLY got shady up here.

No one missed a meal, and we got the hand-held treats in before the sun went down.

And I will guard the water dish.

Changing the water out a few times a day seems to work well for them, as I see them drink from it more often. Another win in the feline column.
*** Last back to the sweatshop...I think we've had enough with trying to emulate OTHER cities.

My main complaint with all that crap, is that we're LOSING what used to be unique to FORT WAYNE.
We're growing in leaps and bounds, and there are times when such tactics are NOT necessarily are a good thing.

This ALL adds the hell up!

When you grow (as a city), you expand not JUST the populace, which we have, thanks to people coming here from all these foreign nations as refugees, plus whatever number of illegals followed the "trail of giveaways" to the Summit City, but you HAVE to expand every single service there is in the city.
Trash collection, public safety (police/fire), ambulance service, hospital staffing, education (teachers and in some cases, new schools), and then there is the housing.
Last week, we took a blog-post tour of the housing situation...feel free to revisit it for a refresher.
And, there is always the INFRASTRUCTURE, Many cities (including ours) have utilities in place for a specific number of people, in order to maintain a level of sustainability. When everything gets "bigger", it places stress ON that infrastructure, and the usual failures of it to meet ALL the needs of ALL the people becomes clear.

Over budget (and not REALLY needed)

Lastly, there is the REVENUE increases all over the place to support everything I just mentioned. Now where the hell do YOU suppose it comes from? Thin air? That Franklin tree out back? How about from your butt?

How does THIS help the south side?

No...indeed, it all comes from your "Hip-National Bank". (with assists from various grants, that we all know NEVER last forever, unlike rising taxes).
So, by chasing after what people (believe they)  WANT, they will in fact, wind up denying themselves what they NEED.

This will break the bank for sure.
