Friday Follies...
So, if you're looking for a decent weekend, you just might be out of luck, depending on how YOU choose to define the word "decent".
(if you're a duck...not a problem)
Yes, it looks like rain will be moving in and hanging around for a spell.
Our Hoosierland weather for today bring us cloudy skies, with that damnable rain coming by during the mid morning hours, with today's high will only rising to about 48 degrees, so it'll be a cold rain. Take the time to drive accordingly (with falling leaves, streets will be slicker than snot on a doorknob) and sure, take the umbrella.
Now, let's get ourselves warmed up with a nice comforting cup, glass, or mug of Friday Fortitude, as wee see what is going on elsewhere...
*** First out of the toy box is our "What the hell happens today, Bob??" feature:
OCTOBER 26 -
---It's National Breadstick Day
(I am kinda partial to Papa John's)
---It's National Day of the Deployed
(for those serving overseas)
---It's National Financial Crime Fighter Day
(he only crime is that I never have ENOUGH finances...lol)
---It's National Frankenstein Friday
(what happened to "Wolfman Wednesday"?)
---It's National Mincemeat Day
(there is NO real "meat" in it)
---It's National Mule Day
(does this coincide with either national jackass day or Democrat Day?)
---It's National Pharmacy Buyer Day
(just don't feel like BUYING a pharmacy today)
---It's National Pumpkin Day
(just gimme a pie and we'll call it even)
---It's National Tennessee Day
(a shame how Memphis has gone down the crapper, though)
*** Next, since we have finally arrived at week's end, let's see what we can observe over the following 48 hours...
OCTOBER 27 -
---Saturday is National American Beer Day
(might have to grab me a REAL American Sam Adams...or a Yuengling)
---It's National Black Cat Day
(Midnight should love THIS one)
---It's National Make a Difference Day
(I ask all of you to do the same each day here)
---It's Navy Day
(not to be confused with the birthday)
OCTOBER 28 -
---Sunday is National Chocolate Day
Now THERE is something to REALLY observe)
---It's National Mother-in-Law Day
(sorry, fresh out of them)
And there we go then...plenty of things to keep oneself busy and away from the local jail.
Just remember to observe responsibly.
*** Next up,  a search warrant nets two on drug charges.
Here's the story:
http://www.news-sentinel.com/news/local-news/2018/10/25/two-arrested-following-gang-unit-search/
This took place at 2731 Kingsland Court  around 2020 hrs Wednesday evening.
Arrested were Octavius Franklin, 38, and Crystal Franklon, 34.
Guess those complaints about drug dealing and gunfire were taken seriously...cool.
*** Next, a little more on the recent woman killed up NW)
https://www.wane.com/news/local-news/man-admits-to-killing-mother-says-he-was-possessed-by-demons-hitler-/1549235184
Okay, so he admits that he is a bad person and "needs to be put down".
Anyone care to want to make someone's wish come true?
One word comes to my mind: ASYLUM!
*** Next up, the Fort Wayne Ten Point Coalition begins program. Here's the story:
https://www.wane.com/news/local-news/walk-kicks-off-fort-wayne-s-tenpoint-coalition/1549278347
And, we're walking...
So, we're going to see neighborhood outreach to improve the quality-of-life...that should prove interesting, especially with all the black males I see around here all day (and with Fort Wayne having a 2.7% unemployment rate). We must have ALL of that 2.7% in my part of town...lol. Wouldn't hurt ANY of these males to do something useful...for a change.
*** Next, time to make our last stop for the week at "Kitten Corner"...
I is all birded out.
The kids were mostly quiet through a lot of the day...until Wifey got home. Then, they start running about.
A good part of the day was spent watching bird come to the feeder (they hit and run), and the outdoor cats, and Gallifrey likes to watch leaves falling...go figure.
I can't help being cute.
Violet just follows me about and then parks under the dining room table (on one of the chairs) where the heat duct blows warm air. She's no dummy, that's for sure. Later on, he joins her on another chair. He catches on pretty fast.
*** Next up, our final check in of the week for "Midnight and Whiskers"...
Our furry twosome actually surprised me...they were BOTH here for all three meals and treats.
Did you see that leaf fall?
It did take a little jingling of the keys and some crumpling of he bag to get them to come by...but they did.
Yep, and here comes another one.
And they were both rewarded for their diligence in showing up. She was on the back step until it was time to lock up, so she got some extra treats for her devotion.
Yeah, we're weird that way...lol.
*** Last back to the junk drawer...to borrow a line from an old Three Stooges short (A plumbing We Will Go - 1940), featuring a wonderful character actor - Dudley Dickerson, seen here)"This house sure gone crazy." .
Make that the WORLD, boss.
When I saw these "pipe bombs" that were being sent around to various democrats, I was a bit bemused.
Whoever made these hasn't really thought things through, and, according to the media, none of them were "functional". There was NO triggering mechanism.
Does it say "ACME" on it?
But they still present a serious problem, simply because fot eh fear factor.
SO, why send them if they're not going to go "boom"?
Who can say, given the nature of whoever thought this up, but you have to admit, it HAS garnered a LOT of air time with what passes for news these days. And, it also keeps our minds distracted from the (now up to 14,000 strong) migrant caravan coming north to our border.
This is what we all have to be constantly aware of...distraction. we have to stop acting like the infant who is amazed when those shiny keys and dangled in front of our eyes. We need to focus on the important, and that which matters and affects every one of us.
We live in an age where we honestly need to pay attention, because there's so much going on, and lots more stuff an occur if we're not staying aware of what is going on.
This is a situation where neither our heart nor our head should rule the day...but a well-balanced combination of BOTH...that will insure we temper one with the other and that we shall remain vigilant. That sounds like a plan to me.
Do have yourselves a good weekend.
Be well, make a difference to someone today, and as always...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Actually, the timer is available on Amazon, It is sold by HuaYang Trading and is described as "1 pc LCD Digital Display Clock with Calendar for Car Dashboard Home Desk Bedside" but /somehow they missed "Bomb." But since it is made in China and is used in vehicles, do you suppose that it is available on Mike Braun's website? Just a thought . . .

---Hey, long time no see.
---I've also seen those at various discount stores as well as online.
I guess the description is valid, even if the item is used in other "applications". A throwback to the day when cars either had no clocks or analog ones (that never kept time...heh).
---Yeah, the list of "uses" doesn't make mention of explosives (and probably should).
---LOL...don't know if Braun is buying them up.
Never know what you're gonna find at Dollar General these days.
Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

Stay safe out there.

Here I am at last! Yet another weekend of my increasing early onset dementia has now cleared and maybe I can get all caught up!

It was a great college football weekend- I can't remember how many times we flipped over to a game either going to overtime or threatening to...

No breadsticks Friday... Laurie had Garlic parm dough knots, which is close...

Why do Pharmacy buyers get a day? Where's boat cover fabric cutter day?

Hey, hit Saturday with a couple of GMs...

I generally type up the Wed. Bible Study on Saturday... hope that will work...

Chocolate- AMEN, brother!

Now, Bob... I'm sure the neighbor guys just have off-shift "jobs"...

You should ask D to show you some of the "backyard speakeasy" videos Laurie put on FB...

Alrighty, over to Monday I go, faster than a herd of turtles!

---Onset dementia?
That's NEVER gonna happen, buddy!
---I can;t even remember when I WATCHED collegiate football...(that's a good thing with me).
--_Dough-knots! Love the "name"...can you DUNK them?
(yeah, in Lambrusco)
---We may have to MAKE one, my friend. Lord knows you can USE one.
---I just bet you DID...heh.
(I tackled a Sam Adams Pilsner - it never had a chance)
---Again, knew you'd like that.
---If by "off-shift" you mean 2 AM shootouts, parties and drug deals, then perhaps you're right.
---Backyard Speakeasy...will have to do that.
All we have around here are the neighbor's backyard SPEAKLOUDLYS...LOL.
---Yes, get thee to a Monday...HA!

Thanks for coming by and commenting.

Stay safe up there, brother.
