Well, here in the Summit City, the weekend was a bit of a washout, wasn't it?
Not much to do except watch the leaves fall off the trees and get soaked, thanks to the wind and rain. In other words - it was craptastic.
Today will see an end to the rain (for a short time...until it returns tomorrow)...enjoy it while you can.
Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us scattered showers to begin with, tapering off by midday. We'll have partly cloudy skies and temps rising to around 54 degrees. Guess it could be worse (like when the locals wake up...heh).
Yeah, I'd take the umbrella anyway, just to be sure.
Now, what say we chase the nasty away with a comforting cup of coffee, tea, or hot chocolate, as we see what else has been going on...
*** First off of the leaf-covered sidewalk is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
OCTOBER 29 -
---It's National Cat Day
(I know of FOUR who will be spoiled once again)
---It's National Hermit Day
(this gets MORE appealing with every passing year for some reason)
---It's National Oatmeal Day
(I know what I'm having for breakfast now)
*** Next, here's some lowdown on that Pittsburgh synagogue shooting.
https://wpta21.com/news/top-stories/2018/10/27/multiple-casualties-3-officers-shot-at-pittsburgh-synagogue-officials/
And here:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/us/20181028/an-open-door-and-a-massacre-gunman-kills-11-at-synagogue
I simply cannot understand WHY people do what they do.
There has got to be more to this than we're being told.
*** Next up, and speaking of loons, more on the pipe bomb mailer:
https://www.wane.com/news/national-world/multiple-casualties-after-shooting-near-pittsburgh-synagogue/1554709839
I would love to know why the lame-stream media is trying to blame these things on our president.
It's like they look for reason...yet they can;t even put together a series of cogent excuses.
*** Next, and of course, the usual gun control advocates come back out...again)
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/schools/20181028/Gun-control-advocates-push-voters-to-act-17
No one seems to figure out that when you control guns, the bad guys will be IN control.
Let's try controlling the lunatics out there...like we SHOULD be doing.
Demonizing the NRA will not win your argument, people.
*** Next up, time to make our first stop of the week at "Kitten Corner"...
Our kids had a better weekend than our community cats, because they were INDOORS, an spent a lot of the time watching the bird feeder.
We are starting to see a return of the avian friends there, and as long as they stay away from the cats, it'll work out well.
Naturally, with the rain came a lot of napping, and some running around, and some more napping.
I still have to watch my feet, because I get followed around a lot.
*** Next let's do the daily check-in with "Midnight and Whiskers"...
Our furry twosome spent a LOT of the weekend trying to stay dry, and still get fed. That was challenging for all.
When the wind blows, the dry spot under the patio table gets a tad smaller than usual, and that means eating areas are at a premium.
Still, they were both there for the MAJOR meals (breakfast and dinner), and he missed the lunches. Last night she missed treats time (must have been off taking a bathroom break), so I owe here from yesterday.
We never short anyone around here, especially if they happen to be the "regulars".
*** Last back to the coat closet...evil is indeed nicely entrenched in our city these days.
In fact, it's doing a fair job around the globe.
And, I commend our president for calling it out the other day when referring to the synagogue shooter.
He made a good call when he stated that evil comes in many forms...yes it does.
Evil has had a LOT of practice over the ages, and it's still working hard to keep it going.
So, how do we fight it?
Well, doing it all by yourself isn't the best answer.
We start with getting God on our side, if He isn't already.
Now that doesn't mean we can kick back and suck down an iced tea.
We have to be actively involved, and that begins with a keener awareness of the evil around us.

Evil will be defeated in the end...and those creating and fomenting it know as much.
But, we are tasked not with fleeing from evil, but facing it head-on and standing firm against it.
God does the fighting for us, and those who follow a righteous path will always prevail.
That you can take to the bank.
Be well, make a difference to someone today, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Okay, I'm here, I had to make a few stops on the way. One of them involved telling Jo-Anne her "Did you know" book got some bad info, there were NOT 47 elephants and dancing bears that survived the sinking of the Titanic. It apparently came from some idiot "urban legend site" and made it into a child's did-you-know book in Australia. Yes, head is still shaking...
Hermit Day- with ya there...
I think I covered my thoughts on both the terrorist incidents (true and false) nicely on Sunday.
Those people wouldn't know a "common sense gun law" if it SHOT them. Not only do these people no longer "drive the discussion," they drove it away giggling.
EXCELLENT closing today. You outdid yourself, and I have a feeling that you got some "Powerful" help with it.
Chris:
---Never heard ANY of that...so I didn't know
Find it hard to believe that elephants were even on the Titanic...urban legend...affirmative.
---We should start a HERMIT UNION...and limit he membership to TWO.
---And you did a fantastic job of that, buddy.
---
I just wanted to air my laundry on it somewhat.
---Oh, you got THAT one right (as usual).
Didn't know their stupidity had such PRIVILEGE?
(must be another "protected c;ass")
---I will confess that I pretty much "wrote itself".
I like when that happens, because it saves me from straining my brain along the way.
Hey, thanks for stopping by and commenting.
Stay safe up there, brother.
National cat day? I love cats so much! So I still volunteer at Animal Care and Control 8 years later, since I will be 27 next week and still live with my dad, I'm so dumb for it. still don't know why dad he hates cats. I am so pissed off after I heard our idiot president is coming to Fort Wayne, hope he gets impeached! miss Obama so, so much, but that's what my family and I are (all Democrat!) Trump better be gone by next Wednesday, my special day of the year!
catererin:
---From a dog lover, I also admit to loving cats...had dogs all the time I was growing up.
Had turtles, chicks and ducks, too...and THAT was living in the city of Philadelphia...LOL!
---That's s cool that you still volunteer at AC&C, too. How do you keep from getting "attached" to the critters?
---A shame your dad doesn't like cats, though.
(my dad was a "dog person", but Mom loved ANY animal...heh.)
---I try to not let politics get into too many aspects of my life., I just hope for a better world . It works out best for everyone that way, whatever side of the aisle you're on. I will say Trump coming here will cause a snotload of traffic problems. That's NO fun at all.
Anyway, here's hoping you have a fantastic birthday next week (and don't let politics mess YOUR day up...just enjoy the cake like I do...HA!)
Thanks for taking time to stop by and comment.
Stay safe out there.
