Humpday Happenings...
Well, the GOOD news is that we're NOT facing sub-zero conditions.
The BAD news is that it's still cold, and wet, and slick on the roads, which is causing school closing all over the place (FWCS is the last to do so...as usual).
But the really bad news, is that tonight, whatever water is still on the roads and streets will RE-FREEZE, and you can guess what that will mean (yeah, it sure as hell won't be fun).
Hopefully, we won't have any more airliners sliding off the taxiways at our airport in Fort Wayne like we did last evening.
Our Hoosierland weather for today will consist of rain, breezy with cloudy skies, and temps reaching to around the mid-40s. Then we get cold again, but the rain will stop (yay).
Now, let's get ourselves a nice hot cup of coffee, yea, or cocoa poured and parked close by (we're going to need it this morning), as we see what ELSE has been going on...
*** First off of the slick streets is our WHO SAID THAT? quote for the week:
"Whoever is careless with the truth in small matters cannot be trusted with important matters."
Yes, after the Covington Catholic High School fake news dust-up, I think this quote is quite apropos. And, it speaks volumes as to the credibility of the news sources that perpetrated the falsehoods they put on-air.
So, WHO said that? The answer at the top of tomorrow's post.
Meanwhile, back in the Kingdom of Württemberg...
*** Next up, let's see to our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
JANUARY 23 -
---It's Library Shelfie Day
(sounds a bit on the "contrived" side to me)
---It's National Handwriting Day
(let's KEEP it in our schools)
---It's National Pie Day
(be nice to have one for breakfast...or lunch...or dinner)
*** Next, I mentioned the Black Hebrew Israelite group in yesterday's post.
Now, here's a bit of the backstory you won't hear about in the lame-stream media:
https://www.splcenter.org/fighting-hate/intelligence-report/2008/racist-black-hebrew-israelites-becoming-more-militant
And here is the WIKI on the Black Hebrew Israelites:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Hebrew_Israelites
While this all SEEMS somewhat proper to begin with, it's in 1966 when things get a bit more "interesting".
It's now more like a NATIONALIST movement. The above story from the SPLC speaks to black supremacy and racism.
Not that far removed from "Calypso Louie's" (Islamic) group.
They've even been called the "black KKK" and that's from Tom Metzger, former head of the KKK...imagine that.
And they're becoming MORE militant.
Geez, and we thought the Black Panthers were worth worrying about.
They got nothing on THIS group, have they?
And, to MY utter surprise, some truth (?) comes from one of the lame-stream sources:
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/who-are-the-black-israelites-at-the-center-of-the-viral-standoff-at-the-lincoln-memorial/ar-BBSA5Nx?li=BBnbcA1
Guess that sooner or later, truth WILL rise to the top of the dung pile.
*** Next up, those who believe that Fort Wayne IS a safe city might want to check THIS out:
https://www.alarms.org/safest-cities-in-indiana/
We are getting there.
Fort Wayne ranks 25th as far as safe cities (in Indiana) go...not that stellar a ranking, is it?
We're the 26th safest STATE and are marginally above the national average as far as VIOLENT crime goes. That can't be good, can it?
*** Next, Our monarch (King Henry) held a presser yesterday that had to do with a review of 2018 and what's planned for 2019 (as far as safety goes):
https://www.wowo.com/mayor-tom-henry-fwpd-and-fwpd-recap-2018-announce-2019-plans/
Still...it's good to be king.
Sire, hast thou heard that ACTIONS speaketh louder than WORDS?
Our king also signed up to run for a 4th term as mayor (guess he's not done feathering his "legacy" hat just yet).
Those Riverfront and Electric Works projects have sure taken away from ANY attempt to revitalize the SOUTH side of the city, haven't they?
Such things explain the crumbling infrastructure (water mains) along with rising violent crime (more drugs and guns seized than in  years past), and the proliferation of gang activity (because not much is done to dissuade such behavior). Plea deal much?
Sure, lets have four MORE years of that to really screw things up for whoever succeeds your reign.
*** Next up, time once again to visit "Kitten Corner"...
I iz all bird-watched out.
The kids did pretty good yesterday, and spent a lot of time napping (in between meals), and bird-watching. The blue jays come by to scarf up and cat food let behind, and the sparrows and house finches empty the feeder.
Less chat...more food, please.
One could say there is much to be envious of when it comes to a feline lifestyle...if I were the envious type.
*** Next, let's check back in with "Midnight and Whiskers"...
Okay, so my flight was delayed...I'm hungry.
Our furry twosome survived another freezing night, and unexpectedly, Midnight missed both breakfast AND lunch.
Whiskers only missed lunch He did finally show up and come by for dinner and treats.
He just doesn't know what he's missin'.
Later, he was at the back steps (for more treats), and I nearly fell on my ass going out - it was THAT slick with freezing rain.
Nevertheless, they BOTH got some treats on the steps, and I got a wet backside from sitting down and feeding them.
You KNOW you love the both of us.
The things we do for those we care for...right?
*** Last back to the slushy sidewalks...the TCM Channel has some giiod viewing on today.
Now, I don't usually mention such stuff unless it's good.
Today at 5:45 P.M. is the 1968 movie WILD IN THE STREETS.
You've heard me talk about this film a couple times and if you want to see what runaway liberalism looks like, you might want to check this movie out.
Later on, starting at 8 P.M. is an homage to the comic genius, ERNIE KOVACS.  The station will feature 2 films he was in, as well as several episodes of his TV show (which I can't wait to see again).
Here is the WIKI for Ernie:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ernie_Kovacs
In many ways, he was a pioneer in television, and the list of those who have Ernie to thank for THEIR comedy is lengthy.
And to think he got his start in television in Philadelphia (before I was even born).
To say Kovacs was innovative would be an understatement. He was a master at innovation...and improvisation...and spontaneity.
And today would have been his 100th birthday.
Let's just say that if were not for Ernie Kovacs, we would not have the likes of Johnny Carson, David Letterman, Monty Python, Chevy Chase, Jim Henson, Dave Garroway, and Andy Kaufman ...ALL of whom (among many others) credited an influence by Kovacs.
Truly one of the originals in comedy. Let's blow out the candles.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Weather: I kept hearing the roads calling this "the widowmaker"- soak us full of water, then freeze. Set over night, makes 1,000,000 chuckholes...

Quote: Well, there go all the elected officials...

"Shelfie"? Geez...

MSM has to do stories on BHI being racist to cover up their own dishonesty in the first place. That way they can 'break' a story intelligent people already knew...

"...but nothing can change the shape of things to come..."

---Honestly, this is the kind of weather that's dangerous JUST walking TO your vehicle...let along TRYING to drive it (or rather slide it) around.
---LOL...sure sounds like it, doesn't it?
Thought you'd get a kick outta that one.
---I know..."shelfie"...bad pun syndrome alert.
---When it comes to them, whenever THEY cry "racism", you can bet a wad of folding money that there IS NONE to be found.
Whatever they report, I conclude the OPPOSITE...and find the truth. Simple, huh?
---Max Frost and the Troopers rides again...at least late this afternoon.

Thanks for skating on by today to comment.

Stay safe (and NO Slip N Slide) up there, brother.
