Tuesday Tidbits...

It would appear that we're not going to be shaking the winter cold off any time soon. It's going to get even COLDER by week's end (we can hardly wait...right?).
Funny how I don't hear anyone bitching about global warming NOW. Guess our climate is changing, though...heh.
Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us cloudy skies, very cold conditions with temps rising to about 33 degrees, and some patchy fog early on, and did I hear freezing rain also? Hope not.

Now, how's about we get a nice hot cup of coffee, tea, or cocoa to warm us on the inside as we see what's been going on outside, hmm?

Well, it DID only take 16 years, didn't it? That predates my blog, even.
With a track record of usually solving about 25% of any given year's homicides, one would think we could be doing better.
Hope we don't let ALL the suspects die in order to solve murders in this city.
*** Next, time to lighten things up as we stop by our "Kitten Corner"...

The kids had a nice day, busying themselves with chasing one another, playing with some toiys, an basically being the wonderful house-cats we've come to know and love.
Sometimes, they want to get SO close to you, or maybe watch you eat.
Other times, they just want a head scratch or back rub (I like those, too).
It's never too much trouble to take care of a pet.
*** Next up, let's do our daily check-in with "Midnight and Whiskers"...
Our furry duo were doing the typical thing...as outdoor cats tend to do.

Wow, the sun DID came out!

Whiskers was in the shelter and came out to have some food and water (the dish had to eb thawed twice yesterday with fresh LIQUID water added).
Midnight went "on the prowl" but did surprise me by stopping for lunch. So no one missed any meal and they even got hand held treats after dinner.

Yo, I'm here NOW...feed me, please.

But, apparently, it was too cold for the back step treats time, as no one showed up.
Maybe tonight? We'll have to wait and see.
*** Last back to the polar vortex...I've been following this ongoing story about Iowa rep. Steve King and his "racist" comments.

Now, I've read what he said, and while I might not agree totally with some of it, he did make some statements that were historically correct.
What happened was that he was ambushed by media interviewers, and as can be expected, what King said was predictably taken OUT of context.

Naturally, the left would have him tarred, feathered and run out of town on a rail. Republicans have claimed what we said was "stupid" and inappropriate.

King has been "controversial" over the years, but has not come come out and CLAIMED to be a white nationalist or white supremacist, unlike some democrats in congress who HAVE claimed affiliations with the American Socialist Party. Don't hear anything bad being said about THAT...are we?
Yes, friends, the marvelous DOUBLE STANDARD is still in vogue in politics in general (and D.C. in particular).
I will say what I mean an mean what I say...it's better that way and I don't have to remember a pack of lies.
(Mark Twain would admire that)
Yet, on the flip side of that coin there's this:

I believe that THIS is at the crux of this whole Steve King deal.

I also feel that this is at the root of most all of our society's problems today...a lack (or transposition) of context and the lack of the desire to LISTEN, rather than merely "hear".
Most anyone can hear, but you have to focus (with intent) to listen.
Almost sounds too easy, doesn't it? Maybe a caveman could it, though.
