Monday Musings...
It would seem that the "March winds" came a bit early yesterday, and I will confess that it was NOISY outside.
Hell, it was noisy INSIDE...sounded like a freight train was rolling through most of the day.
Not a good day for man or beast, that's for sure.
Fortunately, those winds will diminish during the day (good, I was bored after the first 10 minutes of it).
Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us sunny skies, the aforementioned lessening winds, but temps will drop once again with our high reaching only around 30 degrees. Feels like minus 2 out there (around 0600 hrs).
Let's just get that warm, comforting cup of coffee, tea, or cocoa, as we see what else has been going on then...
*** First out of the kite factory is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
FEBRUARY 25 -
---It's National Clam Chowder Day
(does anyone still make "Manhattan" style? Campbell's USED to)
---It's Chocolate Covered Nut Day
(haven't met one yet that I turned down)
*** Next up, from the "lost but found" pile, I dug this up:
https://nypost.com/2019/01/08/judge-black-men-are-more-effective-at-killing-each-other-than-the-kkk/
Tennessee judge Wayne Shelton made some serious sense when he compared black-on-black homicide to the KKK.
Believe it r not, their local NAACP president said the judge "was on point" with the tirade.. Naturally, social media took the judge to task iover his statements (which indeed carry more truth than most all the "news" out there). Funny how the story was all but buried.
And this from back in 2012:'
https://urbanfaith.com/2014/02/the-new-klan-the-real-threat-for-young-black-men.html/
Sure doesn't seem like MUCH has changed with young black males over the last seven years, does it?
But, I'm just an old white guy, who once had a LOT of friends of color, both in school and outside of it. I also had scores of co-workers who were the salt of the earth, and if my father were still alive, he'd mirror my sentiments.
But today, we've got little to none of that, and if you do, you're fortunate indeed.
Today, it seems the YBMs in our cities are only concerned with anything BUT having a good character.
It's all about "stuff" for them...and how they can get more, by any means.
It's about a fake "family" (gangs) because what USED to be a REAL family is torn apart by entitlements and a lack of responsibility of those who become parents before they even grow the hell up.
*** Next, over the weekend, someone decided to get their car washed...the HARD (and fatal) way. Here's the story:
https://www.wane.com/news/local-news/water-rescue-team-called-to-vehicle-in-st-marys-river/1805274874
This took place in the St. Mary's river at the "T" where Old Mill Rd. becomes Broadway and meets W. Rudisill Av. just before 0330 hrs Sunday morning.
A person was found dead male inside the vehicle. The FWFD was notified by the ONSTAR system,  The darkness and the current of the river hampered the removal of the car, but ti was eventually towed from the scene.
My guess is that someone just didn't stop at the intersection while travelling west on Rudisill.
Going to Mike's would have been a lot less costly.
*** Next up, time to stop by "Kitten Corner"...
She's just warming up his spot for later.
The kids had a good weekend, although, when the wind got to howling, the cats were looking around wondering what that noise was.
Aside from that, they were not bad, an pretty much behaved themselves (yes, even "Crash Bandicat" Gallifrey.
He finally got his sleep together.
He scared himself when he was nosing around the sink and the dishes shifted...that was funny.
Violet was just happy to take things easier. He could learn a LOT just by watching her.
*** Next, let's check in with "Midnight and Whiskers"...
I really don't like all this loud wind.
Our furry twosome had a wild time yesterday. Midnight was loudly meowing all over (he sure did not like the high winds), and Whiskers actually got scared from one gust and dashed outside the patio fence., She came right back, and kept real close to me.
Feeding went well, but I put their treats in their dishes, rather that sit and feed them (and have them out in this.
I know. It scares even me.
We think he was under the neighbor's pine tree for most of the day, which was fine.
I'm just glad neither of them went someplace where they could be hurt or trapped from stuff blowing around.
*** Last back to the windmill...so how did we do with all this wind?
Well, our one bird feeder was blown OFF it's hook onto the ground and was damaged. I can;t lock the lid on it down any longer, but it should still work well enough.
I had to chase the cats food dishes around the patio, and our trellis needed some "fixing" to straighten it back up.
Actually, the neighborhood seems to have done okay for a change. We didn't have any outages (thank God).
The biggest problem is all the trash blowing about, and not from bins left out.
It's the whole ghetto mentality when it comes to littering - drop it from your primate paws wherever and whenever you like...who cares...right?
How it looks is what it becomes.
I know none of this randomly moving trash did NOT come from our property, but some of it DID wind up here (as it always seems to do). We're the trash-magnet of the area (must be our whiteness...LOL). In any event, I went tout a couple time to police the area and put the crap in the street (with the rest of the trash). Not the best solution, but it's goo enough for these idiots.
It's really not hard to figure out what happens whenever people STOP caring. Just look at ANY ghetto in our nation.
And, when people stop caring, all of a sudden, the government STARTS caring...amazing how that works.
Naturally, such actions lead to the whole entitlement mindset, and we all know how well that's worked (not).
All it does is create a NEED for people not to care.
Sure makes you long for the days when such things were the works of fiction...and not reality.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

I think the whole wind thing was overblown...

(Yeah, I know that groaned, but I really can't contribute to days with nuts and/or oysters, and I know the judge's words will be lost on those who need to hear them as "intolerant"...)

At that time of night, I bet somebody fell asleep at the wheel... Onstar doesn't do much good for you in that instance...

"Crash Bandicat", lol!

Perhaps you shoulda got a gross of lead weights for the outside kids...

You mean none of those winds drove the trash onto the King Henry estate?

---LOL. No need to get big-winded over it, though.
---Yeah, that's probably why the judge's story has already been forgotten.
SO easy to overlook the obvious truth to matter, right?
---The addition to your "Crash" name was from the lovely Mrs Bobby G. That made me laugh.
---I DID use a chunk of brick to keep the car mat grounded.
---I'd wager that our monarch has some sort of "pact of nature" that prohibits such activities...!
Then again, loose trash is most likely BANNED within a mile of his "palace".
We weathered it well enough (with some appropriate prayers along the way). Never hurts, does it?

Thanks for stopping by to comment today.
Stay safe (and never wind-burned) up there, brother.
