it was nice to not have to watch everything to make sure it didn't fall down, blow over, or otherwise take a stroll somewhere else.,
It WAS cold, though, and that will continue for some of the rest of the week.
Our Hoosierland weather for today bring us mostly cloudy skies, temps rising to the freezing mark, and maybe a slight chance of snow showers late tonight.
Now, what say we get a comforting drink poured, as we see what else has been going on...hmm?
*** First off of the trash-strewn street is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
FEBRUARY 26 -
---It's National Fairy Tell A Tale Day
(Washington, D.C. tells us LOTS of them yearly)
---It's National Pistachio Day
(They've become SO damn expensive lately)
---It's Spay Day USA
(oh, this is ONLY limited to animals...got it)
*** Next, and because it IS a Tuesday, let's pull the FWPD blotter and see all the crimes that took place last week that we didn't hear a thing about (and should have):

NONE? AGAIN? AMAZING!
*** Next up, and speaking of crime, we now have homicide number TWO.
http://www.journalgazette.net/article/20190225/WEB/190229783
Police were called (by family members) to 8604 Lakeside Drive around 1230 hrs at the South Bridge Apts (lots of government sponsorship there and the associated crime). This was an apparent well-being check.
A 60-year old woman (Carmen Hughes) died of multiple stab wounds.
So much for letting older people live on the south side these days.
---In addition, the victim who was found dead in his car in the St. Mary's river was ID'ed as Brian W. Coburn, 36, of South Whitley.
(probably unfamiliar with that intersection?)
*** Next, former sheriff, Ken Fries is joining Crime stoppers. Here's the story:
https://www.wane.com/news/local-news/former-sheriff-joins-crime-stoppers/1809295061
Good for him. I always liked him as sheriff.
I suppose we need another person working with Crime stoppers these days. Doesn't look like crime will be decreasing that much in the near future. I wish him well with this.
*** Next up, time to stop by our "Kitten Corner"...
Our kids had a decent day, and that means plenty of nap-time, and self-amusement.
And, if you're very careful...and are able to approach them without startling them, you can get a good "two-fer" with the cuteness factor.
*** Next, let's check back in with "Midnight and Whiskers"...
I'm LOVING that sunshine! |
Both of them made every meal and after dinner treats.
I did have some mail to put out, and naturally, Midnight followed me,even after telling him to stay on the sidewalk. Needless to say, he didn't listen...lol.
When I got back across the street to our place, I had to call him from where he was still sitting...in the damn street.
I know...tell me about it! |
I admit it's nice to have such good supervision, but please stay out of the street.
*** Last back to the patio gate...we couldn't leave you without another excellent column from Walter Williams, so here it it:
http://walterewilliams.com/plunder-an-american-way-of-life/
I feel this is so very thought-provoking, because it marvelously calls to question the "legality" of taking from one American to serve the purposes of another American.
We're not talking "charity" here, either.
Much of our government is involved in legalized theft (John Stossel would shout an "Amen" to that, I'm sure).
But just because something becomes legal, the aspect of morality comes into question, as well it should.
I do believe that Frederic Bastiat was correct in how our country USED to be, which was a much better example than it has become over time.
And, if we're not all careful, we might never be able to get that back.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Darn, lots of nuts this week...
Spay Day- nice try, though....
Hughes: Round up all the deadbeat grandkids....
Fries: Good guy for the job, true.
Williams: the De Touqueville point was reached a while back.
Chris:
---More nuts than can be found on the SE side (present company EXCLUDED).
---It's the thought that counts...heh.
---That would be a good start.
---Yes, it is...I miss him at the ACSD.
---How far PAST that point have we labored on this,...that is something we might not want to know. (or would we?).
Thanks much for stopping by to comment.
Stay safe (and keep warm) up there, brother.
