Monday Musings...

If you stepped outside early this morning, you probably went back in and checked the calendar to make sure it wasn't still January.
Rest assured...it IS the month of March. It just FEELS like the dead of winter once again.
As a result, you might want to take a little extra time and caution when driving...lots of roads will be on the slick side, and even if the city puts salt down, it's too cold to be effective, so do take care.
Our Hoosierland weather for today sees us with partly to mostly cloudy skies, temps only climbing to around 11 degrees (with the wind chill, it'll feel well down into single digits).

Now, let's get a nice comforting beverage inside us to chase that chill away, as we see what else has been going on...

I confess that Kia and Hyundai were both finalists when Wifey wanted to get a newer car.

Best in class - large sedan.

And that's why I did a LOT of homework before we decided on a Chevrolet Impala.
It was the best ranked out of the 5 we were looking at.

This took place last Monday, at 0649 hrs. in the Lassus Handy Dandy gas station located at 3604 West Jefferson Blvd.

Too bad the video is blurry. Can't get it any cleaner.
But we know the ethnicity of the robber (big surprise, right?).

This took place 0645 hrs Friday  at a house (not a "home") located at 6015 Southcrest Road, off South Calhoun Street.
Police found almost 1/2 ounce of heroin and .6 grams of crack cocaine

This took place around 0330 hrs Saturday morning at a house located at 1526 East Pontiac Street 
THIRTEEN people in the house, and NINE of them children?
My, that's one crowded house. Anyone ever check as to the legal occupancy lately? This could have been a LOT worse.

And. how DOES a fire start on a porch so damn early in the morning?
The investigation should prove "enlightening", to say the least.
The SQ FT of that house is 1590 (total) Sq. Ft. (1-family zoned R-01). The house was built in 1930. It's owned (as of last year) by Compass Capital Ventures, Inc. (not by the individul who resided there, as was mentioned in a news story) We really need to set the records straight.
*** Next, time to stop on by our "Kitten Corner"...
The kids had a pretty good weekend, with some very laughable playtime. They have these glitter balls they "juggle" with and it always get me smiling.

After all the activity, they took it easy.

They were running about on Saturday, but yesterday, they were content to just lounge about a lot.
You simply have to admire that kind of lifestyle.

Our furry twosome had themselves a good weekend, too.
Midnight had an evening "meow-down" (more like some growling) with another cat (dark gray with longer fur). That caused him to wander down the block in search of it.
The following morning, all seemed fine - no injuries incurred (thankfully).
He seems a bit protective of "his" territory (and obvious food source).

I iz staying right HERE...gimme food.

Whiskers was fine just staying close by and taking to the shelter when we got that light snow yesterday. She doesn't chase after other cats.
*** Last back to the ice cube tray...I thought we were supposed to get an "early" spring, as per the groundhog?
Seems he might have been a bit premature along those lines.

I know our hyacinths are starting to poke up through the ground. I wonder what this sudden freeze will do to them?
I suppose things could be worse. We could be in Los Angeles where an activist group got some white men, put MAGA hats on them, and then walked them along the Walk of Fame on leashes...((ahem))

Yes, we're deteriorating into that these days.
Hope no one decides to call this "artistic expression"...that would be a falsehood.
And we wonder why people become so reactionary.

We all need to calm the hell down a bit, step away from all these media sources, and take stock in what we have, where we live, and how damn fortunate we are in this country. Even our poor are far richer than the poor in many other nations..
Maybe, if more people took some time to appreciate that, we'd have a lot less of the nonsense we see and hear about every day.
