Tuesday Tidbits...

It would appear that our wonderfully unseasonal cold spell will continue today.
And to think that department stores are already putting swimwear in their adverts...crazy.
Bet you can get some deals on long underwear (not that we need it of late...lol).
Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us partly sunny (or partly cloudy, your choice) skies with our high today only getting to around 21 degrees. (feels like -7)
What, no scattered snow flurries? Who's been slacking off here? I want names!

Screw it all...let's instead get ourselves something hot to drink as we start the day. It'll chase the chill out as we see what else has been going on.

Seems everyone stops just short of mentioning WHY the SE side has become what it has over the years.
Sorry, but I LIVE down here, and I see and hear what goes on daily. One can't help that.
Sure, making the case for revival in our part of town is EASY, as long as you avoid the causes of the problems we face.
More than likely, Sharon Tucker (who is already on county council) will run UNOPPOSED for the 6th district council seat (as is always the case). God forbid anyone BUT a democrat runs down here.
Expect more of the same then.

Well, the future of the city (in general) looks fine, but obviously, his highness has not looked too hard at the south side, (just like the mayors before him over the last 20+ years).
The SE side is not looking near as good as everywhere else...is it, sire?
Henry's column sounds more like a rehash of the SOTC address given back in February (for the most part).

Don't tell us what you've DONE...rather, SHOW US what you're doing on the south side...
Many of us would LIKE to live relatively NORMAL lives again...the way we used to.

Police were called to the 3200 block of South Hanna St. around 2000 hrs last night in regards to a shooting.
Officers were told a man was taken to hospital in a personal car and was last listed in critical condition.
Witnesses told conflicting stories as to someone walking or driving away from the scene.
Never a dull moment down here, right?
*** Next up, and switching gears, actor Luke Perry has died after suffering a major stroke at the age of 52.

I was never a fan of 90210, but I did like his acting style.

In some ways, it reminded me of James Dean.
His latest work was on the CW series "Riverdale".
And, he did have a decent film career.

I ix not "spazzey" now.

Our kids had a mostly quiet day, until Wifey got home.
Then, they went into "spazz-mode" for the better part of a half hour before they calmed back down.

I'm just nodding out.

Gallifrey did watch a few birds, while Violet napped the day away (when she wasn't following me around to give me a face-rub).
Very distinct and different personalities, that's for sure.
*** Next up, time for our check in with "Midnight and Whiskers"...
The furry twosome did well, in spite of this cold weather.

The sun's out, but it's STILL cold.

Whiskers spent a good part of the day in the smaller shelter, while Midnight "toughed" things out alongside the house (near the basement window).
We did have a bit of a disagreement during the day - Whiskers didn't like her butt sniffed by Midnight, so she hauled off and whacked him one...LOL.

She's got a mean swing for her size.

Can't say I blame her there. Nothing else really came of it, but he was watching her closely.
She's smaller, but she's got some spunk.
*** Last back to the ice floe...looks like this double-standard-itis continues.

We're seeing yet another probe into our president. Weren't the first TWO YEARS enough?
Why is it that those who SHOULD be looked into rarely are, and those wo have been looked into (with nothing found) have to keep going through this dumbassery again and again?
Every year, we see more and more of this going on, and everyone doesn't seem that bothered by it (and they should be).
Look back at past presidents... was Wilson investigated this much? What abour Andrew Jackson?
Grant didn't need looking into, but his cabinet sure as hell did...corrupt as the day was long.
Nothing came of Clinton and his "antics", but Nixon was forced out of office over 18 minutes of audio tape. Johnson wasn't  (initially) taken to task for his escalation of the Vietnam war, but at least he could read the writing on the wall, and didn't seek another term (smart move).

It just annoys the hell out of me to see some people not content unless they're needlessly badgering another.
The other end of that spectrum is to be otherwise ignored, as we, on the south side of Fort Wayne have been for decades.
How improving our riverfront and downtown helps us on the SE side is something I've yet to discover. Another double-standard.
I will say you rarely see anyone out after dark down here (unless in a vehicle), and we've lost hundreds of amenities and businesses over the decades...BUT, we get a nice bustling downtown and a vibrant riverfront as our "reward"?
Sorry, not feeling that warm and fuzzy feeling the city want me to have.
(maybe it's the sound of gunshots or police sirens  that's distracting me)
