So, if you're expecting a change in conditions outside, you might have to wait a bit long.I know it's getting way too repetitious for my liking. It's as though we've become mired in some sort of meteorological rut.
Our Hoosierland weather for today is pretty much the same as it's been for the last week...lol.
Partly to mostly cloudy skies, a chance of rain during the day (maybe a thunderstorm), highs reaching back into the upper 70s, and maybe some more rain tomorrow, so yes...keep the umbrella handy, kids.
That about cover it? Good.
Now, let's get ourselves a refreshing drink to chase away the blahs, as we see what else has been going on...
*** First off of the saturated ground is our WHO SAID THAT? quote for the week:
"People's ignorance really pisses me off. Stupidity is when you can't help it - ignorance is when you choose not to understand something."
Now, before you ask...NO, this is NOT one of MY quotes...LOL. Although I have to give kudos to this person for thinking along similar lines (scary stuff, huh? I have to admit that it does convey the nature of a lot of humankind these days.
So, WHO said that? The answer at the top of tomorrow's post.
Meanwhile, back in Halifax, Nova Scotia...
*** Next, we bring you the "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
MAY 29 -
National Paperclip Day
(anyone recall Operation Paperclip?)
National Coq Au Vin Day
(chicken, shrooms, garlic, salt pork, wine...sounds good to me)
National Senior Health & Fitness Day
(try being healthy and fit where WE live)
*** Next up...Hot off the (virtual) press, here's the most recent Bill O'Reilly column:
https://www.billoreilly.com/b/Defending-Trump/-575823110044399765.html?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=staff_column
Bill's right again. Who wants a corrupt government?
I certainly don't...a least not any more corrupt than it has proven itself in the past.
We can function quite well with a minimum of corruption (better with none at all), and history has proven an excellent teacher, has it not?
*** Next...When does ignorance like to rear it's head?
https://www.buckeyefirearms.org/logic-ignorant
This plays marvelously into another one of our "deadly sins"...namely anger.
The aspect of ethics and beliefs is well said here.
In our current culture war, as usual, the first victim has been...the TRUTH.
Those who live by this "logic of ignorance" might want to look into that.
*** Next up...An update on the FWPD officer-involved shooting last week:
https://www.wane.com/news/local-news/police-gun-found-near-man-shot-by-officer/2034155206
So, police DID find a gun near the victim...how about that.
Matching a shell casing forund at the original scene with the gun will tell the tale.
*** Next...How do you make an already bad situation worse, you ask?
Let's try something like THIS:
https://www.wsj.com/articles/fiat-chrysler-unveils-renault-merger-proposal-11558935759
Personally, I think Fiat sucks, they built some really crap cars in the past,. and I see no evidence of that changing drastically.
Still making crap. |
Multinational automotive monopolies are just inherently wrong (imho).
*** Next up, let's drop on by our "Kitten Corner"...
"I needz a nap 'cause I iz bored with rain." |
"I iz too bored with rain to get up." |
But, I will rub your necks should you want me to.
*** Next, time once again to check back in with "Midnight and Whiskers"...
"Nice to eat and not get wet." |
"Yep, but more rain is coming for dinner." |
We managed to beat the rain showers there.
Before the late afternoon showers. |
The vibrations don't seem to bother it, plus it might feel like purring. It's cute to watch.
*** Last back to the umbrella factory...what ever happened to major AMERICAN companies?
Do yourself a favor and try to look them up. SO many from our past have been swallowed up by mega-corporations, and when something comes along and they take a financial hit, how many suffer as a result?
Think of all the companies we USED to have and how they just seemed to disappear over the decades.
When some foreign company (owned by God knows who these days) gets a fart caught cross-wise, it impacts on OUR ability to manufacture cars, or electronics for the home, or whatever.
I want to think we HAVE one. |
We get one thing from Japan, something else from Canada, other stuff from Mexico, or China, or Germany, and what WE make here BY Americans has almost become an anachronism.
Remember how OUR industrial might helped win a world war? I still do.
Since those days, we've become active participants in a tangled web of (international) monopolies with so many other nations that we've forgotten who WE used to be. I don't think one (corporate) hand knows what the hell the other is doing any longer.
Maybe making our nation great again (along those lines) isn't such a bad idea after all...is it?
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

If only the restrictions and taxes on American companies had some sort of view of the future.
Susan:
I know what you mean.
That trade deficit of ours is nothing to sneeze at. Other nations charge US tariffs and that's fine, but when we RAISE ours for them, suddenly it's outlandish, and precipitates some sort of "trade war"...
I didn't know that our national motto was:
"Take Advantage of Us".
(doesn't say that on ANY of my money)
Thanks for stopping on by today to comment,.
Be well out there.)
Hi, here deciding this week's M10...
Agree on the quote. Sounds like Carlin to me, but I never get these things right...
C A V: I dunno... I'd have to give it a sniff before considering (Bad habit lifted from Hawkeye Pierce)...
Well, I got in about 2 miles in the teeth of the afternoon... not bad for senior health...
BOR: I say that at least once a day...
BF: IMHO, since Liberals are the fountainhead of most of this nation's anger right now, howsabout THEY turn THEIR arms? Oh yeah, they don't HAVE any... (nod nod wink wink)
Chrysler: I have a suggestion from the Peanut Gallery- Let them all merge, and change the name to the acronym USCI (United Shitty Cars International)....
Inside kids: They must have had a better day today...
Closing: But By Golly, we still make boat covers!
Chris:
---LOL...well, Carlin was born in Manhattan, not Canada. I think it will surprise you.
---Sniffing is good.
---You ain't a senior YET, Bub. That's my domain (for now).
Perhaps a "senior-in-training"?
---Okay, but how often do you THINK it (bet a lot more like me).
---BF...spot on, there. Say no more.
---Now THERE 'ya go. I like that that one. (although it makes me wonder what's left to drive that's any good for US?)
---They did, provisionally-speaking. More on that tomorrow...heh.
---ROFL...boat covers for vessels made from various sub-assemblies that came from WHICH countries ???
(refer to my short-list)
Thanks for spending time down here to comment.
Stay safe (and made in America) up there, brother.
