I, for one had to get used to seeing the SUN outside for the better part of yesterday, considering all the rain we've been having of late. Been a while in coming, hasn't it?
But never fear, I heard that rain is coming back this week (most likely by tonight), so enjoy the day while you can (even if the ground hasn't managed to dry out too well).
Our Hoosierland weather today brings us sunny skies, temps reaching to around 78 degrees (guess we'll find out if the central A/C still works), and plenty of drivers out there not paying attention (nice weather brings hem out from under their rocks), so be mindful of that.
Now, let's get ourselves a refreshing beverage to jump-start our day, as we see what else has been going on...,
*** First out of the flower beds is our "What the hell happens today, Bob"? feature:
MAY 6 -
National Nurses Day
(they dress differently from when I was a youngster)
National Beverage Day
(find something good to raise that glass)
National Crepe Suzette Day
(can't be all bad...it's got eggs)
*** Next...it seems the FORCE was with some people in town this weekend:
https://www.wane.com/news/local-news/star-wars-day-turns-anthony-blvd-into-movie-theater/1979493481
That's cool to see something like this.
*** Next up...the FTW Urban League CEO was "let go". Here's the story:
https://wpta21.com/news/2019/05/03/urban-league-ceo-let-go-replacement-sought/
So, now they have to find another "leader", and that'll just make things SO much better for certain ethnicities in the city (and the SE in particular)? Seeing (for me) is always believing.
*** Next...of course we have our usual mayhem:
https://wpta21.com/news/2019/05/05/golfer-okay-after-being-grazed-by-bullet-at-fort-wayne-golf-course/
Sorry, I don't know HOW you "accidentally" shoot someone on a gold course. Nothing was said about a firearm dropped by a duffer, so the shots had to have come from someplace off the course.
Police don't know where the shots came from (check the housing nearby?)
https://www.wane.com/news/local-news/man-critical-after-beating-on-broadway-sidewalk/1982077735
Yes, nothing like being beaten into critical condition along Broadway in the early morning, is there?
I'd wager it's some overflow from Broadway Joe's or Dan's Grill)
*** Next up...it's time to drop by our "Kitten Corner"...
"Look...it's NOT wet outside." |
They got back into overly-cute mode, and spent a good part of the weekend being able to see things going on outside (not that there was that much that I found interesting).
"Time for another nap..." |
At least they weren't shooting at golfers or beating people up along Broadway...heh.
*** Next...let's check in with "Midnight and Whiskers"...
"Yay...I'm not damp for a change." |
They both have gotten a bit spoiled with back-step treats in the mornings AND evenings.
Naturally, there was plenty to do (like guard the flowers that Wifey bought over the weekend).
"These plants are defended..." |
"Hey there." |
Fast asleep. |
It's very shy, but if it ever wants to get over that, we can add it to our little band.
*** Last back to the declining neighborhood...I sure miss being happy about living here.
To be honest, I don't think we had a solid fifteen minutes (Sunday) WITHOUT some boom car thumping through the area.
Then, there was the screaming kids (no one knows how to play without screaming anymore?), and the barking dogs along with honking vehicle horns (ever think of knocking or using a cell phone to get someone's attention?).
Dumbassery knows NO boundaries. |
I won't even get into those Latinos who decide to put up another "structure" in their back yard over a weekend.
W...T...F ...?!? |
Wonder if they even have a permit for something this big?.
It's crap like this, along with all the litter, that tends to make a neighborhood into a ghetto REAL fast.
Thing is, our area has been working at it for over a decade and a half...and the powers that be downtown have done nothing to stop it or reverse it.
Funny, we got our annual (free) PRNA newsletter (neighborhood association publication) and right on page 3, there is a "blurb" that speaks about PARKING.
Naturally, those with no vested interest in the area pay no attention...and seemingly neither does PARKING CONTROL. Remember a while back, it took MY call into the 311 line to get vehicles moved (which they did), but everything down here should NOT have to be "complaint-driven" every time. The city departments need to UP THEIR GAME.
And, it would not HAVE to be complaint-driven...IF the FWPD and Parking Control took to actively patrolling the neighborhoods (as they used to do).
Parking Control at work (for a change) |
A shame, because the city is losing a butt-load of money, and the government-sponsored citizenry are not being held accountable for their lack of adherence to the laws and ordinances.
When everyone takes responsibility for themselves, THAT is when you have a community...but not before.
The city might want to help these idiots get with that program, because this attitude IS spreading, like any untreated disease will.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Well, I, for two, saw little of the sun, being down with whatever Peanut gave me all weekend.
Did get a little mini-walk in, though, and survived work as well. So no harm, no foul.
Beverage day, be specific, wouldja?
Sure would be interesting to get the scuttlebutt on that UL firing... times like these you really miss Danny Turkette...
Beating: Yep, prolly had to have his mouth shut the hard way...
Hmmm... are you SURE the kids can't be tied to the golfer? They do deal with birdies...
I hate to pick on you, but WE never played outside much without screaming, either, at some point. Auxiliary garage: I'll guess hydroponic greenhouse...
You guys have a NA? Did not know that...
Chris:
---Well, you're not alone.
Wifey got some bug and it's like living with MYSELF...LOL.
(I'm gonna pay for that comment later)
---Hey, anyway that gets you through the day works, right?
---Anything that pleases your palate?
---Yes, we (still) do miss him...a lot!
---HA! Yeah, you're probably right there.
---No opposing thumbs...hard to handle firearms.
---To be honest, whenEVER we got LOUD while playing outside, our parents (or someone who knew them) would come out and tell us to "keep it down", and since we wanted to SIT DOWN during dinner, we took such advice to heart.
---Greenhouse...heh, yeah. Love to know WHY this guy feels the "need" to build it. And...I NEVER saw a SLAB being laid down beforehand.
Curious, isn't it?
---We've always had a N/A...not that it does ANY good with such low membership and little interest for what it CAN'T seem to do.
I could do a post just on that (someday).
Thanks much for stopping by and commenting.
Stay safe (and get that umbrella back out) up there, brother.
