Tuesday Tidbits...
So much for those warm conditions we had (yay!). It looks like rain, and it might be worth taking that umbrella along today, and probably for the rest of the week (just in case).
Our Hoosierland weather brings us mostly cloudy skies, rain up to the north (how far north is anyone's guess). and temps only getting to the mid to upper 50s.. That means it will be getting cooler and pretty much staying that way for the remainder of this week.
So, let settle back and get a refreshing beverage, as we see what else has been going on...
*** First off of the freshly-mowed yard is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
MAY 7 -
National Packaging Design Day
(manipulating people for ages)
National Paste-Up Day
(I like scotch tape better)
National Barrier Awareness Day
(and there are so many)
National Roast Leg of Lamb Day
(looks and sounds good to me)
National Foster Care Day
(isn't that our public school system?)
National Teacher Appreciation Day
(and they are under-appreciated)
*** Next, it's Tuesday, and that means we need to check the FWPD blotter for all the crimes that took place last week (that we never heard about...and should have): Be warned, the list is getting LONGER as the natives get restless in warmer weather.

Here we go now...it's already starting.
*** Next up, did you all notice that yesterday around 1830 hrs that BOTH Yahell and AOHell mail services were down?
Both of them were having "service disruptions"...and during RAMADAN, at that! Sure is some kinda coincidence, with so many people around the world relying on email, isn't it?
They did come up within 2 hours.
*** Next, and just so you think there's any difference being made on the SE side, we had (you guessed it) ANOTHER shooting.
Here's the lowdown:
https://wpta21.com/news/top-stories/2019/05/06/1-seriously-hurt-in-shooting-near-mckinnie-avenue-and-s-anthony-boulevard/
Yes, "ye olde hot spot" does it again - Anthony and McKinnie. One man in serious condition and (naturally) NO arrests or suspects.
*** Next, a local pastor goes "home". Here's the story:
https://www.news-sentinel.com/news/local-news/2019/05/06/former-local-naacp-president-michael-latham-sr-dies-at-58/
I had my contentions with Rev.Lathem, and if you do a search for Michael Latham in the top left box here, you can look up a few things that gave me serious trust issues. It wasn't all about saving souls. The ideologies got in the way. Let's just leave it at that. My condolences to his family and congregation.
*** Next, let's drop by our "Kitten Corner"...
Our kids had another really good day, and that means PLENTY of nap-time.
"Hi, how you doing?"

Well, not ALL of it was napping. I had opened the screen on the back door, and our cats got to smell "outside", which kept them entertained until it got too warm for that. When I opened the screen, Gallifrey got to "visit" with Whiskers...and no hissing or anger was shown by either cat.
"I like my neck scratched, too."
Violet got on the sofa with me again later in the evening, and Gallifrey just took over my chair for a while.
"I like bumping heads. I'm good at it."
It would be nice if he could learn to curl up next to us and nod out...perhaps in time.
*** Next up, time to check back in with "Midnight and Whiskers"...
"Ir's been a very satisfying day."
Our furry twosome were here for two meals. They both were absent for lunch (no doubt checking out the neighborhood mooks). We even had some hand-held treats time after dinner. Naturally, they were both on the back steps REAL early for treats.
"Yes...it certainly HAS been."
All in all, it was a decent day, which proved tiring to both of them...but they earned their nap time...wherever they chose to take things easy. And there's nothing wrong with that, is there?
*** Next, as I mentioned above, I  got out our electric mower and did the back yard yesterday, and it was rough going (physically), as the grass had become rather thick (and high).
Not too shabby a job for an older guy.
It took me as long to do that as it used to take me the do the entire side lawn. Yes, age is catching up with me (as it does to us all).
"Cord - check. Mower - check."
But I had a supervisor to make sure everything went well. And I found out he doubles as an inspector - checking things our after I mowed.
"Nicely edged...clean cuts...good job."
It's good to have those who care about what you choose to do.
*** Last back to the shooting gallery...how long will it take before something gets done to get a handle on crime in the southeast?
To me, that seems to be the $64,000 dollar question.
It's not like the city has just figured out the facts...they've had DECADES to see what's going on down here...and to DO something about it.
Welcome to the SOUTH side.
While they sat on their thumbs, we lost a mall, a double cinema, and literally hundreds of other businesses, and all we got out of it was a Menards and Wal-Mart (and a few cell phone joints)...hardly compensation for what the SE has lost, is it?
Seems that what the city allowed is what has continued...and quite well when it comes to deplorable behavior from the government-sponsored crowd and the assorted criminals that have come to infest our part of Fort Wayne.
Let's try fixing some windows.
You're not going to make crime go away, but by God, you CAN make it a lot more difficult to permit crime to flourish (as it has for too long). And the ethnic communities REALLY need to get their collectives heads out of their alimentary canals and start doing what needs to be done in order for THEIR communities to become more than welfare wastelands.
You start with the small stuff and work your way up the ladder of societal behavior, until people get with the program which means everyone needs to be on the same page in order to coexist peacefully and without tension or hardship.
Such tactics sure beats the hell out of what's been going on for all these years...
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

It was still pretty nice this afternoon, though...

...but the next problem for Scrappy is blood in urine. Ran some tests today, know more tomorrow. He's doing ok otherwise, just a little whupped.

I like that D did that "name your k thru 5 teachers thing last night. Wasn't hard here- 2&3 were the same, so was 1 & 5 (and 6, for that matter).

Well, it was (e-mail, sorry) their turn, after comcast had a couple douched up days a month or so ago.

Latham: Well put.

Mowing: So I guess you wouldn't want to come over and do ours... beginning to think that Woodbridge's new owners have put Ft Waynes top Mexicans on a "Dandelions knee high by the fourth of July" plan...

Problem being most of the minority groups see what we call "reprehensible behavior" as "our culture, get used to it..."

Chris:
---Yep...the forecasters were a bit "off" with the rain (unless you live in AUBURN, I suppose).
We just had mostly cloudy skies.
---I'll be saying a prayer for Scrappy. Tell him I know about feeling "whupped".
---D's list would be a snap for me. Back then, we had one teacher (all day, and God bless them) per year until we got out of elementary school.
---Yeah, comments to one "is it down?" site came in from as far away as Switzerland...it was worldwide.
--- Latham - If you checked my archive posts, anything I said applied to the ideologies and "perspectives" and not the man...To quote Nick Fury: "I'm nice like that".
---I am surprised that apartment complex maintenance crews haven't gotten down to "maintaining" the greenery...must be one LONG Cinco De Mayo...heh.
Actually, YOUR lawn would still be easy for me...NO HILLS!!!
---Behavior...yeah, see, that crap doesn't flush in my world.
I get real tired of having these idiots cry "culture" when they wouldn't know what that is, if they fell over it.
Ethnic groups (and people in general) didn't act out they way they do today.
If anything, we're LOSING our (unique, American) culture...and for what?
(total nonsense and depravity, that's what).

Hey, thanks for swinging by to comment today.
Much appreciated.

Stay safe (and don't stow the umbrella yet) up there, brother.
