Monday Musings...
We have the initial round of rain out of the way for th time being. And yes, it WILL be more humid as a result.
If you want to take the umbrella, by all means, feel free. You "might" need it.
Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us mostly cloudy skies, temps climbing to around the 80 degree mark, and a chance of showers later in the day. How much later, I've no idea.
Now, let's a get a comforting drink to ease us into the day, as we see what else has been going on...
*** First out of the pantry is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
JUNE 24 -
National Pralines Day
(reminds me of peanut brittle)
*** Next up...Can't seem to have ANY sort of good weekend on the south side of FTW these days, as evidenced by THIS:
https://www.wane.com/top-stories/central-drive-shooting-leaves-victim-with-extremely-life-threatening-injuries/
Looks like homicide #13 (finally)
This took place Sunday morning around 0305 hrs in the area of Central Dr. and Colerick St when FWPD officers responded to a "shots fired" call.
One man was pronounced dead at the scene. Another male showed up at hospital and it's related to the first shooting death.
No suspect information was available.
UPDATE - The victim has been ID'ed at Frashaune Striverson, 37 of Fort Wayne. Where the hell do they make up such first names?
(hardly has a rap sheet - 3 vehicular violations from 2003-2008. Been keeping his nose clean since.)
*** Next-... but the local idiots were not done yet:
https://www.wane.com/news/breaking-news/1-person-critical-after-oliver-street-shooting/
This double shooting took place in the 4400 block of Oliver st around 1610 hrs Sunday afternoon.
One female critical, one female serious...and not much else is known.
(retaliation, perhaps? Who knows with these a-holes.)
It's stuff like THIS that gives ALL of FTW a bad rep...
These animals can't seem to control THEMSELVES...can they?
(and we're concerned about coyotes on the SW side?)
--Also, last night , another person showed up at hospital with a gunshot wound.
No details are available and apparently no one knows anything
*** Next up...How we spent our anniversary...
Well, we had a great lunch planned for Red Lobster after we went grocery shopping...that NEVER materialized.
Seems Wifey's dad had a brain bleed and was moved to a hospital in Indy, so Wifey had to go down there, and see what the story was.
Suffice it to say there was no grocery shopping, no Red Lobster and basically no anniversary stuff.
He's doing okay now, and Wifey came back yesterday, but from a personal viewpoint. "my" routine was shot to hell.
In fact, Wifey had to grab some milk on her way back, because I was getting a bit low.
I will say that THIS week's grocery list will be a LOT higher, as a result. But, it's not like we couldn't see that coming, right? We'll just add that to the $80 a night hotel bill for 2 days.
That's the first time in 22 years that we were not together for our anniversary.
I guess there IS a first time for EVERYTHING.
*** Next, time to drop by our "Kitten Corner"...
Had to be something that got their interest.
The kids had a pretty good weekend, although we went through some "male cat crazy" stuff early yesterday. Other than that, it wasn't half bad, considering the circumstances.
We all made out fine, and everyone got fed well.
They even had some time to watch the world go by.
*** Next up...let's check in with "Midnight and Whiskers"...
Snoozing alongside the house.
Our furry twosome also did pretty well over the weekend. Naturally, Midnight was absent for lunch, but always came back for dinner. We did get in our back step treats in the mornings and evenings\
Taking it easy in the shade.
And that "male cat crazy" affected Midnight as well yesterday. He chased Whiskers into a shelter. There was some hissing and loud meows, but no one seemed the worse for wear, thankfully.
Later on, all was calm again. The way it should be.
*** Last back to the counter top...We really DON'T have a crime problem in FTW.
Now before you get all hot and bothered, hear me out.
What we DO have in Fort Wayne is a PEOPLE PROBLEM.
Face it, crime doesn't cause bad people - bad people DO cause crime, however.
And THAT is what the city (and especially the black community) needs to realize.
Don't blame poverty...no one is shooting one another for FOOD or WATER...many of those living SE are already driving nice shiny vehicles any enjoy every amenity the rest of us do (and THEY don't even work).
Blame entitlements and subsidies...blame the liberal agenda, and blame the people themselves for not realizing it, or even wanting to extricate their asses from this generationally-fostered, taxpayer-bilking vicious cycle.
I get sick and tired of these morons doing what they want whenever they feel like it.
Sounds a bit like ANARCHY to me.
We have standards for human behavior and civility, and it's damn well time these people started adhering to them.
Doing that will make living in this part of the city better for ALL concerned.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Hmm... no real prob with the weather, no interest in pralines... Sorta quiet at this end so far...

Disasters tend to come when they can bring us the most down. God's not gonna come out and say, "Count yer blessings," so I will. I'm getting pretty good at it, everytime I want to cry...

...and again, don't forget, you know our number...

Chris:
Nah, the weather behaved itself for the most part. Still a bit on the HUMID side for my liking.
I know Wifey and I are both blessed in MANY ways. I just "admire" the impeccable "timing" of all this...heh.
(get thee behind me, Satan)
I might have to put you on speed-dial (for future reference).
At least we weren't gunned down in the street or on the front steps...suppose that counts for something, eh?

Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

Stay safe up there, brother.
