Friday Follies...
Well, here we are, three whole days into this history-making event of having our first black President, and I for one, am still here, alive and kicking, and doing just about as good as I have been doing for the past few years, external forces not withstanding.
And I'll bet that most of you are doing just as well.
**There is one gentleman in a nearby town of Decatur that's having a hard time grasping the situation, however.
Now before you all go off on this man, know that he has served this nation, is a vet, has his own business, and does know protocol.
Here's the link to the story:
http://www.wane.com/dpp/news/Business_owner_flies_American
A business owner is flying the flag upside down as a protest to Obama's election as President.
He states that Americans have elected a "Marxist socialist".
Now suffice it to say I have mixed feelings about what Mr. Townsend is doing.
On the one hand, he is correct in that flying the nation's flag UPSIDE DOWN is a universal signal for "distress". And I can respect that.
He DOES have a right to exercise his freedom of speech (and expression), and his method of protesting IS a bit "Gandhian", in that it is more of a passive resistance stance. So he's not really being violent or placing the public safety in jeopardy in any way.
On the other hand, there could be better ways to express his dissent.
**((Editor's note: as of 1600 hrs, Mr. Townsend has taken down the flag and will not be flying it...he states that he has made his point. Well done, Greg. There are many service people out there that thank you and appreciate your service))
My personal feelings (which probably mirror many others) are that the people have spoken (unless there was collusion and corruption in the electoral system), and that Mr. Obama will be our 44th President.
And while I also feel that Obama will have a difficult time reversing the economy (many CEOs are miffed at the election results) and could very likely keep America's economy on the edge of a major recession by their manipulative behavior within Wall St., I think it's prudent to point out that ALL Americans are involved in this recovery, and that we owe it to our NATION to do what we can to minimize whatever damage awaits.
With that said, I think that many people who voted for Obama will be in for a rude awakening when the rubber starts meeting the road.
Those who may have been led off the precipice I spoke of earlier this week will find themselves not as joyful as they were around 11PM last Tuesday night. Those of us that stayed behind to watch are warning you ahead of time.
Expect the unexpected, and by that I mean what you "thought" is not necessarily what you will "get".
America cannot sustain a growing welfare state mentality.
And robbing Peter to pay Paul doesn't work out all that well either.
Those who think that people should just stick out their hand and expect it to be filled with whatever their heart desires, are sadly mistaken. That is NOT how this nation became a world power, nor is it the manner in which it has thrived for the past 232 years.
It was "We, the people" who made this nation what it was by hard work, persistence, diligence in beliefs founded in morality, ethical values and freedoms given us by our creator and substantiated by our very own Constitution.
Anyone that believes otherwise doesn't know "jack".
'Nuff said there.
In other happenings...
**A Fort Wayne man was shot in the leg while WALKING along Harmar Street near East Wayne late Tuesday. The victim called police from 905 E. Washington Blvd. around 2240 hrs. A witness told police that a man exited a red 4 door car on Harmar. The witness heard a shot, then the man got back in and drove off, according to the police report. The victim was taken to Parkview and no one has been arrested in connection with the shooting.
** Allen County police found bags of cocaine and piles of pharmaceutical pills in a home of a Fort Wayne man Tuesday.
Charles Abner, 19, of the 800 block of Heustis St. was arrested on charges of dealing cocaine, and six counts of dealing a controlled substance. Sheriff's officers found the drugs when they searched Abner's home, according to the probable cause affidavit.
Police found 16 grams of cocaine in seven plastic bags. They also found 10 morphine tabs, 85 ecstasy tabs, 76 Vicodin pills, 6 Vicodin E.S. tabs, and 82 Oxycontin pills. Seems old Charlie boy was trying to become the SAM'S CLUB of illegal narcotics...and lost the prospect (moron).
**This Tuesday is VETERAN'S DAY, or (originally) Armistice Day, and I will have my special brand of acknowledgement to all the men & women who have served and are serving in our armed services here and abroad. I'll also include those in the public safety realm as well, for without those people, none of us could be safe on the home front. I think you'll find it enlightening.
**Also, time is running out to send packages to our troops. The deadline for "standard" postal rates is 13 November.
After that, the cost goes up.
Here's a link for the *411*:

**Blogger Alert - Blogger Sighting Imminent!
The missus and I will be up at the local mall (Glenbrook) this Tuesday, doing some pre-holiday shopping, and should I see anyone who was or is a member of our military, I'll be sure to thank them.
I'll also be easy to spot...just don't let my 5'7" stature dissuade you.
I'll be the one wearing BDU woodland pants with the Philly PD Highway Patrol hat...lol!
If YOU see ME, feel free to introduce yourself.
I don't bite, AND I've had all my shots.
I will also do a BOOK SIGNING.
That means if you have a book WITH you...ANY book, and you want me to sign it...hey, I'll gladly do so...for free!
I'll only be up there between 1000 hrs (opening) until a little before noon (and we will be noshing at Sbarros for a slice or two...hey, I'm from PHILLY, we ALWAYS do PIZZA for breakfast), so here's your chance to play "Where's Waldo?" (more like "Where's Bob"?) live and in person. And yes, I am available for group pictures, hand-shaking, and will hug a baby or two (but no burping the recruits, OK?) if pressed.
Bring the kids, bring the wife, bring the relatives...just don't bring your unpaid bills, kapeesh?
In the meantime...
DO have a SAFE weekend!

Watching the Watchers...
It's difficult to go anywhere or do anything since we've elected our first black President...c'mon, be honest now.
As I alluded to yesterday, this IS history, and every single one of YOU are part of it, like it or not. I would have to admit that after you peel away the "promises", the rhetoric, and the pundit-strewn commentary, there IS something of substance to all of this.
Hell, even South Park jumped on this bandwagon with a cute episode last night.
All you had to do was think "Ocean's Eleven", and then mix in the political climate of this nation on both sides of the election results.
Without spoiling the episode for those that haven't seen it, all I will say is that the Smithsonian Institution, The Oval Office, and the word CHANGE were in full swing.
If for NO other reason, you have to hand it to the two guys who write this stuff...it was topical...AND funny.
On the other side of the fence, we had The Daily Show with John Stewart, and while he can be very humorous at times, I found HIS take on this election a bit bothersome, even though he had Chris Wallace from FOX News on his show. The Colbert Report had Ambassador Andrew Young (who isn't these days, but who really is?) on the show, and I found that a lot more enjoyable viewing.
The Chocolate News (which followed South Park) was just a shade more caustic, and I would expect a lot better comedy from David Allan Greer, as I've always enjoyed his work. This new show reminds me of the Chappelle Show, and while I admit to having laughed at ONE specific episode of Dave's now defunct program (the episode about the old black blind man who thought he was white and was a racist), I think David Greer can do MUCH better. In fact, no one can mimic the "white experience" better than Greer (imho), and I find that VERY funny.
((Caution - Segue Alert))
Now you're probably wondering WTF am I doing reviewing all these shows?
Simple...I'm taking stock of our ability to laugh at (and with) ourselves.
Let's face it, when it comes to being able to DO that, we have few (if any) rivals.
I feel bad for kids growing up today, not being able to enjoy the likes of Slappy White, Redd Foxx, Godfrey Cambridge, and Nipsey Russell.
Those were comedians who made us laugh at ourselves, black OR white, because they were observant.
During the days of the Civil Rights movement, black entertainers were every bit as funny as their white counterparts. Some even funnier.
And it was those men and women (anyone recall Moms Mabley?) who pioneered much of the entertainment world, and not only FOR blacks.
--Jeff Foxworthy makes fun of rednecks...and I don't hear any stink from the ACLU about that.
--Chris Rock makes race class "distinctions", and that draws many a raised eyebrow, however.
--Bill Cosby talked about life in general and his neighborhood...brilliant.
--George Carlin lambasted the "establishment"...fantastic.
--Rodney Dangerfield discussed his ups and downs in life...wonderful.
--Norm Crosby butchered the English language...marvelous.
And so on...
We've turned a corner when it comes to comedy, and even how we seem to perceive ourselves, or at least WISH to be perceived.
In today's global society, we're all "on stage" as it were. Privacy is becoming as much a lost art as is good clean humor.
Whatever we say or do can be viewed all over the world in any country having access to the Internet with a few simple button taps.
And much of this is done in the "name" of humor.
Now, it's always been noted that what is funny for one can often be tragic for another, and today, truer words were never spoken.
We have the ability to place anyone doing anything anywhere for any reason at any time, thanks to our technology.
And is that necessarily a good thing?
What have we, as a society become, that we "have" to know everything about everyone all the time?
We're nothing more than electronic voyeurs.
We love to peep into those "windows" (pun intended, except for MAC users) in other peoples' lives to see if we're missing anything.
Personally, I don't subscribe to that, because most all of what goes on in OTHER folks' lives doesn't affect mine. My main concern is what is happening in MY life, and the lives of those I care about. The only exception is when something "external" has some effect on the "internal" workings on my or my family's life. Then it becomes MY business.
Now I said all that to say this:
We do, in fact have our FIRST black President, and make no mistake, he WILL be under scrutiny, for two main reasons:
1) He's the PRESIDENT.
2) He happens to be AFRICAN-AMERICAN.
Regardless of whether the MSM all loved him or not, if he does something that's not in THEIR interest, they WILL turn on him like a rabid dog. If Obama does anything that disturbs the status quo of the "Ivory Palaces", he will be taken to task, because if there is ONE thing I've seen happen with regularity, it's that people ARE fickle.
They can love you today, but detest you tomorrow.
Doesn't matter if you're the President or not.
Take a pro football team; One week, they're winning and the best thing since sliced white bread. Then they lose one or two games, and suddenly they're the sacrificial goat being taken to slaughter by the same people who praised them several weeks prior.
Like I said...fickle.
So pay attention to the climate in Washington (through media sources).
It will tell you HOW things (actually) will be going, if you know WHAT to listen for.
Obama is now under the microscope, as is every other politician elected. And the people will want some "bang for their buck", as it were. The special interest groups that dumped MILLIONS into political coffers will want THEIR return on THEIR "investment" as well.
And many times, they hate to kept waiting.
Still, you can never please ALL the people ALL the time. It will be fun to watch WHO gets pleased...and for HOW MUCH of that time, though.
The down side will be to see WHO gets hosed...and for how long.
For every winner, there has to be a loser.
That's just the facts, any and all humor not withstanding.
Maybe we can just laugh it all off...

America...The Land Of The Lost?
Thomas Paine once said that: "These are the times that try men's souls" (An American Crisis - pamphlets, 1776), and I can hear those words echo across this vast nation as the sun rises.
America has elected a new President, and for the first time, and African-American President.
Surely the stuff that groundbreaking is made of, right?
Not so fast.
We are placing into on of the highest offices in the world a man untested, unproven, and bit of a mystery.
Well, that's not so bad for a start., but he aure ain't no JFK!
The title of this post smacks back to the Marty Kroftt kids show from the 70s, where a family goes on a rafting excursion, and winds up in a world where everything is changed...ruling lizard people (Sleestaks), dinosaurs, and friendly little furry critters.
Get used to this scenario.
Is Barack Obama the BEST candidate for the job?
No...there were better men from years past, not the least of which was Alan Keyes, also an African-American.
Mr President - prove me wrong.
I can't help but think that what I posted on Monday seems to be all too true. Too many Americans are content to be led around the nose like so much cattle. Vote for someone because he's NOT G.W., or because of his skin color...or his "policy" of CHANGE (for apparently change sake)...NOT for the issues he represents (or misrepresents).
American is ripe for a schism, and you can imagine what it could be based upon.
Have we had the wholesale rioting I mentioned earlier this week? Thankfully not, but we're only in the first day of this "CHANGE", we've heard tell about. There is plenty of time to raise several sorts of hell in this nation.
And don't think those who oppose US as a nation (in the global arena) aren't paying the hell attention.
Oh, yes they are.
You can practically hear their Pavlovian response kicking in from where you sit.
Mr. President - prove me wrong!
Still, I might not prefer the choice that "Amerika" voted for, but I will, as a good American, RESPECT THE OFFICE being held, if nothing else. And I think that's the least any of us can (and should) do.
I will say that I feel that our nation could be shooting itself in the foot, but we'll have to wait and see whether Obama allows us to KEEP the guns in the first place, in order that we may be ALLOWED to shoot ourselves in said foot. We might have to settle for a mere amputation instead.
One thing I would LIKE to see occur with Obama in the White House (whose name might be changed to "Da First Crib"), would be for the majority of the poor, uneducated black population to grab the old boot straps and ante up, turning from their victicratic mentality and becoming a much more productive aspect to our society.
That's what I'd LIKE to see.
Not going to happen, I fear.
Somehow, I don't see the local wild minority urchins that roam my street becoming straight *A* students, aspiring to become civic leaders, and mentors for the future generations (while staying off my property and not vandalizing everything they touch). I don't see these people deciding that disrespecting someone because of THEIR skin color or ability to earn a living and OWN a house changing overnight.
I don't envision a neighborhood clean of drug dealers, boom cars, and slovenly behavior, although the opportunity for such a thing is NOW well within reach with a black President running our country.
I don't see the black population extending their hand to others with as much brio as others have done over the decades in their attempt to bridge any and all gaps between cultures.
Mr. President - prove me wrong!
So, what exactly DO I see?
I see people that will seek EVEN MORE entitlements, while NOT seeking gainful employment, all in the name of "diversity" and "freedom".
(sorry folks, the "freedom" of irresponsibility is NOT in the Constitution)
I see neighborhoods where crime will still hold court, forcing even more decent folks away.
I see local infrastructures suffering as a result.
I see good people being unjustly intimidated and disrespected (hell, we saw that at polling places yesterday...by the Black Panthers).
It comes down to the whole "We gots a brutha in de white house, so we can do wha-evah we wan to now" (sic).
Sorry folks, but you're going to need an attitude adjustment first...a MAJOR one.
Will we see a resurgence back to traditional family values...not on THIS watch.
And as a result of that, we can expect further erosion of societal mores. I could go on and on about how Obama is soft on gangs and crime, but Chicago speaks for itself. You will see for yourself.
I can also expect illegal immigrants to be provided with LEGAL American I.D.s via driver's licenses. And I won't even get into the abortion issue and how that will progress. (or is that regress?)
One thing I can't help but take notice of, is that America has had it's final "slap in the face" to it's Vietnam vets with this election. Dennis Miller made note of this the other night, and I agree with him, so there.
I can't feel good when Obama wishes to cut back technological advances that would keep THIS nation at the forefront of a precision-guided form of warfare, instead of the traditional method, which leads to the usual mass carnage of lands, civilians, and soldiers.
Does Obama have a viable "alternative energy" solution?
Not yet, but perhaps he'll "grow into the position", as it were.
Yet, Obama will be the President of MY country, and I owe him my respect to that office he will hold.
Will my views and opinions bother some?
Yeah, sure it will.
People can't handle truth all that well these days.
This election TOLD ME as much.
Conversely, there will be those that echo my sentiments.
I will say that I would LOVE to see our next President be able to get this nation back on it's feet, it's economy thriving, it's people prosperous and working, and once again become the world leader in democracy, liberty, and freedom for everyone...but somehow I think that's asking for the moon, especially in the NEXT four years.
My take is that those that voted for "change" will, in all likelihood, "get what you want" (or deserve...either way).
Be careful what you ask for...you just night get it.
This is STILL "MY" America as much as it is YOURS.
Also, do remember this...HAVING something is not as desirable as WANTING something.
(that should keep the philosophy majors pondering for hours)
Now all you lemmings do what's expected....the cliff's over there.
I'll just sit back and watch....(for now)
And I'll try not to laugh too much...I promise.
Oh, and President-elect Obama...please...prove me wrong. (I could use the rest from being so damn right all the time..REALLY I could)
No sour grapes here...just common sense.

04 November 2008

But Let's Not Dwell...
We ALL know what today is, right?
I mean it's not as though someone has been cramming it down our throats, in our ears, and up our bu...I mean noses for the better part of a YEAR now, is it?
But all that aside, there ARE other things happening all around us.
For example, Allen Iverson, perennial "illustrated man" (ever see those arms of his? No room for even a classified) and bad boy of the NBA is going to DETROIT. The word "IRONY" comes to mind here...dunno why.
And for the past two days, we've been receiving calls from the DEMS attempting to secure our vote for THEIR candidate. One call came from Massachusetts (617-556-0333), while the other originated from Monterey, California (831-359-4225). Feel free to ring them up and tell them what a great job they're doing, OK? And here I "thought" we were on the NO-CALL (national as well as state) list?
But let's not dwell too much on this...I feel the need to vent a tad.
There was an interesting letter to the editor in today's J/G, citing the DWB thing AGAIN. Seems this young black man was observed swerving on the street. The police pull him over, nothing is found, and he's let off with a warning. Sounds about right to me.
But apparently, "mama" is playing her (gov't-sponsored) "race card" in an futile attempt to negate typical police work, such as traffic stops. I've seen instances where an officer will pull over a group of people in a car if they're moving around a "little too much" (something to hide or just dancing while driving?)...don't give a LEO a reason to pull you over..simple, huh? I can say with both certainty and truth that it's NOT about "driving while black". It IS all about "driving while DUMB" (obviously this driver hasn't seen that Chris Rock You Tube video on how to behave with the police).
Here's the link if YOU need to view it:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uj0mtxXEGE8

And if perchance, the DUMB person just HAPPENS TO BE BLACK, especially in a neighborhood that has a 90% (or higher) black citizenry...well, that's just the odds of fate. And don't be misled...we DO have our share of WHITE dumbasses as well. If a white person gets pulled over in a black neighborhood, that's not just a curiosity, but can often be a precursor to something illegal being committed. Then again, it COULD only be some average white guy going to HIS OWN HOUSE that HE BOUGHT with HIS MONEY that HE EARNED while WORKING at HIS JOB.
(Sound about right, Phil?)
I have stated here often (and to the FWPD quadrant captain) that you could have ALL BLACK LEOs here, and the department would STILL incur the misdirected wrath of the locals JUST BECAUSE it's a BLUE UNIFORM pulling one of "their own" over...period.
I for one, am also sick to death of "diversity for nothing more than diversity's sake".
-First off, we're all human (well, most of us are) and that alone lumps us ALL into ONE basket.
-Second, we're ALL Americans (at least the ones born here are), and again, that defines our "commonality" further.
-Third, in Indiana anyway, we're ALL "Hoosiers" (I'm just a transplant from Philly...sorry) - further definition of being similar.
-Finally, we're ALL "Fort Waynians" (at least those living in the city limits are).
AFTER all that, we can decide how best to define ourselves based on our cultures, beliefs, nationalities, and so on.
AFTER those four items I mentioned, THEN we can proceed to develop our "diversity".
Curiously enough, we tend to define ourselves by what we do, and that's a good start.
We define ourselves by how we project ourselves to our fellow man.
We define ourselves by values instilled as well as acquired in our journey through life. It's not all that difficult, really.
How we define OTHERS is even easier.
All THEY have to do is show the hell up, open their mouths and say something.
THEN, we have a good indication of who (or what) we're dealing with.
It's often said that people WILL "judge" you by the way you speak. It's not just WHAT you say, but HOW YOU SAY IT that is important.
They will also make a decision based on the manner you present yourself to them, as I said above.
You could be a Yale graduate with a doctorate in literature, but if you dress like a damn SLOB, and talk in mumbled, mono-syllabic grunts while you pick your nose and run your filthy hands through your greasy hair, you WILL NOT be perceived AS that Doctor of Lit, no matter how hard you try otherwise. Minds have been made up. It's that simple.
There is also the "nurture/nature" thing.
Were you brought up to BE a slob?
Did you LEARN it somewhere?
Conversely speaking, did you grow up being taught right from wrong, and what consequences were? Did your parents instill in you a fear of GOD, a sense of ETHICS, and a level of personal responsibility, and morality? Did you acquire those aspects of human development in life instead?
You see, there simply is no easy answer as to WHY our society "celebrates" diversity by means of a cultural facade, while never understanding what lies beneath the surface of every individual.
Then again, if we ALL were TRULY individualistic, and not political lemmings, or cultural lemmings, or even marketing lemmings, we'd have a much better grasp ON our society.
Yeah, that all sounds a bit TOO idealistic, doesn't it?
...And a bit philosophical as well.
Now I said all that to say this:
Today we decide WHO will be our next President. Actually we'll vote on electorates that will decide who to cast their vote for, so it's not even a "people" gig. We (by throwing some levers) will say to the 50 states (and the electoral votes FROM those states) that THIS guy is the one "we" select to run the show...or not, as the case may be. It's liken to a vote by proxy...kind of. None of that hand-written, one person-one ballot thing we see that works well in those 3rd world nations. But we're not facing any type of coup..or civil war..at least not yet (and hopefully never). And we're so damn technologically superior than they are anyway.
I'll be the first one to tell you I've forgotten more about the election system here, than I can remember, and I consider that a mixed blessing.
Then again, at my age, I take my blessings where I can get them (and living in this part of town "ain't one of them", believe me).
But let's not dwell...
Let's just hope for the best today (and this evening)...but expect the worst.
That way, none of us will be that disappointed...fair enough?
We (the American people) stand on a lofty precipice.
Whether or not we choose to enjoy the view...or jump the hell off is up to every one of us.
If you plan to jump...make sure you have a reserve chute...you're definitely GONNA need it.
It won't be the FALL that does you in...but it WILL be that SUDDEN STOP at the bottom!
Remember...get out and vote (early and often if possible...lol)
It's all about AMERICA...or AMERIKA...you decide!
We'll catch you on the flip side.

03 November 2008

The "Fix" Is In?
Tomorrow's election surely must go down in the annals of history as being one of the most "curious" on record (at least in MY lifetime). Suffice it to say that although many believe it's still a close race (I being among that number), and that John McCain has a very good chance at pulling a come-from-behind victory (anyone remember the Truman-Dewey election?), I can't help but think that (as Sherlock Holmes would say)...that "something is afoot".
We've heard the rambling of one Rev. Jeremiah Wright defaming this nation, we've seen ACORN doing it's best to undermine the political election process with underhanded tactics, and we've seen enough smear tactics to last one a few years from both camps.
We've seen the MSM (main-stream-media) all but ignore McCain, while praising Obama as nothing less than the quasi "second coming". Everyone seems to love someone that is an enigma wrapped in a mystery these days.
As the old mobsters used to say: "Yo, Vinnie...tell da boss da FIX is in....it's in da bag, kapeesh?"
But...facts are facts...and the issues are still the issues (whenever someone decides to speak about them, that is). Nearly EVERY major network has given themselves over part & parcel to the democrats, lauding over 2/3 of their on-air stories IN FAVOR of Obama, while grudgingly giving about a third to McCain.
Whatever happened to being FAIR?
Yeah, they say that ALL is fair in LOVE AND WAR...never mentioned ANYTHING about POLITICS, did they?
So the media wants Obama....and the minorities want Obama...and of course, the liberals want Obama.
There are (too) many websites that are racially, as well as politically antagonistic in that regard. Some sites even go so far as to say that "America's streets will run red with blood" if Obama looses. And this comes from BOTH white AND black sites.
Wow.
Now how's THAT for divisive racism, folks?
Almost sounds like some "third-world" rhetoric at work there.
All we need is to stir some "infidels" into this recipe, to make it all taste better, right?
"Why yes, I would like a side order of INTIMIDATION to go with my entree of ANARCHY, thank you very much. Could I also have the SOCIALIST SORBET for dessert...and I think I need this order to GO, is that OK?"
I'm not going to mention these sites by name, because drawing more attention to them is like throwing fuel on embers that actually need to be extinguished. It would give them (even more) power they simply do not deserve.
You can easily Google them up for yourselves.
Now consider this..."If" Obama should win, and that's a pretty good possibility, given the socio-political climate in this nation at this time, there could very well be a mass celebration, probably culminating in some rioting, looting, arson, and general mayhem.
I guess some people just don't know how to WIN graciously.
But, on the other hand, "if" Obama should lose (an equally good possibility), there would be a MUCH GREATER propensity for rioting, looting, arson and even more general mayhem (and don't be surprised if it is targeted against primarily NON-BLACK businesses and people).
Some people don't know how to LOSE graciously, either.
I've stated on other blogs that we have in place a "perfect storm" of parameters to accomplish this, not that this would be a good thing. We have the honest-to-God makings of a *new* Civil War here, and this time, "it ain't gonna be North against South", people. And I sure as hell don't want to see that happen.
Now I will go on record that saying that the ones who most likely will be responsible for such action will NOT represent the black (or any other) race as a whole. It will be mainly the result of the uneducated part of that populace; those that CAN be lead around by their noses at someone else's whim.
With the way things seems to work these days, there are huge portions of our society that just don't WANT to think...don't WANT to understand...don't WANT to make a difference. They only wish to be entertained, amused, and do relatively nothing, while they allow everyone else to do it for them...except when it comes to anarchistic activism. Then they DO get involved.
It will be led by the criminal element, looking for an easy way to move in and take over. These thugs don't even care who gets elected. They want to seize and keep power at any level, for any reason at whatever the cost (especially to YOU). We see in our cities every day the result of those that follow the wrong leaders...higher crime rates and a generational dependency instead of self-sufficiency.
It would be my supposition that the lesser of two evils syndrome is at play here, and by that I don't necessarily mean those two Presidential candidates, although the analogy can fit here nicely.
The "lesser of two evils" would be to have these factions go ahead and riot due to a VICTORY, rather than due to a defeat. Let them get the celebration OUT of their system, as it were. Any collateral damage would be a lot LESS severe, plus the "empowerment" factor (with a black President) alone would sustain that part of the populace for quite some time.
The deck would "seem" to be stacked to elect Obama as the next President if for no other reason, than to appease the minorities into a less violent reprisal against our cities and citizens, regardless if Obama is or is not the best candidate...(I think we could have done better in BOTH political camps, not to mention the Libertarians, who everyone else seems to summarily dismiss because they're not part of "the system").
This is just my belief, and not those of anyone else. I come to this conclusion based on what I've read (both pro and con), what I see and hear from as many media sources as I can find, as well as what I experience in my neighborhood, and my discernment from those sources. Much is derived from just speaking to other bloggers and the sources they manage to find.
And believe it or not...I'm NOT the ONLY one that feels this way, or has mentioned this aspect to this election.
I would like to think that all of this is merely a fictitious scenario...one of those "simulations" people run to determine the outcome of some possibilities..and would also make a decent mini series on SHOWTIME.
Think of it as a "what if" venue.
But this is about as far from a video game as one can possibly get. There ARE no DO-OVERS in LIFE 101, people. NO cheat codes, no hints, and no "walk-throughs".
We could be facing a societal upheaval in that respect.
I hope to Christ I'm 100% wrong!
I would like to think we, as a society are MUCH more civilized that this; that we have evolved beyond such pettiness and transitory power grabs. But from where I happen to be, that idealistic aspect that I (as well as many more Americans) would love to embrace, doesn't seem close enough to pursue, let alone grasp.
Like I said....I "could" be wrong on this, and I do hope that I am....
We'll know by Wednesday.
(Keep your fingers crossed.)
