It's All In The Aftermath...
Memorial Day 2009 has come and gone, and again, as is the case down in MY part of Fort Wayne's "blighted" area, Ours was the only house that I saw with ANY flag flying outside.
Now that's not to say that others weren't doing anything patriotic...strike that.
They WERE NOT doing anything patriotic...PERIOD.
As is the "custom" down here (and probably the custom in any other ghetto-esque place around this nation), Memorial Day means one thing:
It's FIREWORKS SEASON...and PARTY TIME.
OK, TWO things then.
Now, you have to consider that the VAST majority of the "minority" hasn't worked a day in at least the 10+ years I've lived here...never have, never will, thanks to something called (taxpayer-funded) ENTITLEMENTS.
That's right, people. YOU, the hard-working backbone of this fine nation are footing the bill for these lazy-assed morons.
So they can go out and buy FIREWORKS...and BOOZE...and God (along with yours truly) knows what else.
And YES, we STILL had boomcars thumping all over the area during the holiday, but the curious thing about all those acoustically-challenged idiots; not ONE of them was playing ANYTHING the LEAST bit "patriotic".
Not ONE solitary band playing The Marines Hymn, or the Washington Post march, or even God Bless America. No, sir.
Unless "patriotism" has suddenly included 4-letter expletives with a large bass back beat, which I sincerely doubt.
And there were also a few ALL DAY parties. One person across the street had so many cars over, I was glad WE didn't decide to have anyone over ourselves. Then again, these type of people think everything belongs to them anyway. They have no concept on what the rights of OTHER PEOPLE truly means. There is NO sense of BOUNDARIES to them. Must be a type of genetic holdover from eons of all that tribal nomadic living in the "mother-country".
I ought to start billing the city for "trash removal" every time one of these Aborigines has a "get-together". I do the "Great American Cleanup" every single week, so I don't need to come out ONCE A YEAR to participate (and we had NOT ONE SOUL clean up in OUR area again this year).
I have to admit that there are some people for which any form of redemptive measures and/or plans will always go for naught.
Thing is, they all happen to live around ME...(sigh).
Yes, people...DISRESPECT for those that gave everything for THIS country held court in OUR part of this city (as it probably did elsewhere in similar social climates in other cities).
Fortunately, pockets of "resistance", like our house, don't cotton to all that type of behavior.
CAUTION: COMPUTER ALERT - YOU CAN LEARN SOMETHING HERE.
But if that isn't enough, our "new" (less than a month old) computer (nice to know we're helping the economy to NO small end here), decided to pick up a VIRUS (need I contact the CDC for a case of swine flu??) and with 2 firewalls and antivirus software already on board.
Be on the lookout for something called "WIN PC ANTIVIRUS". It looks perfectly legit, too. This is a really nice TROJAN that (somehow) gets into your system (I don't recall D/Ling ANYTHING pertaining to this at all), and then causes popups for purchasing this software to fast become a nuisance (several every few seconds). Gradually the system slows to a crawl, and then freezes the hell up. System Tools will not function, and you're pretty much BONED by then.
And that's the BAD news.
The GOOD news is that there IS no more BAD news...you're totally S.O.L.
Thankfully, we've been prepped for this eventuality. We have the B/U system (crosses fingers), along with a PC notebook if we get REALLY desperate. It's damn annoying, that's for sure.
But as I stated before, technology is becoming our BANE, instead of our salvation, and in too many ways.
Much like H.G. Wells proclaimed...it's the IRRESPONSIBLE USE of such technology that may well spell the downfall of mankind. And that comes from a writer/visionary that had foreseen the use of TANKS, Aircraft as weapons of war, and EVEN...the ATOMIC BOMB (a phrase he used in one of his stories).

Getting back to the many facets of our "neighbor(less)hood", I did find it amusing that these boomcars were actually competing against the explosions from movies like SERGEANT YORK, SAHARA (the Bogart one), and MIDWAY...lol. People such as those who live around me have exhibited time and again, that their lives are pitiful and boring as all hell.
Face it, where can one derive ANY type of pleasure from being an annoyance EVERY SINGLE DAY, year after year, doing nothing more than the SAME STUFF, day in, day out?
That's a disgusting legacy for ANY race.
And yet, thanks to society's "uber-tolerance", and in many cases, complete detachment and apathy, we allow this to pervade our neighborhoods, while the good folks turn tail and head for the hills (read suburbia).
Interesting thing...sooner or later, you're gonna run outta BURBS, aren't you?
THEN, what will you do?
Well, when all these mooks HERE move out THERE, we can always "reclaim" these urban areas, turning them into small hamlets with an "English Village" look to them...sheep wandering about the streets, small farms cropping up (no pun intended) with glades, meadows and turf-roofed cottages.
Sounds nice, hmm?
Got that "serene" thing slapped all over it, eh?
Be careful what you wish for...you just might get it.
There are people out there ALREADY trying to implement such things
Good luck with THAT. These urban gorillas (I mean GUERRILLAS) aren't going to move all that quickly, unless someone is going to PAY FOR THAT, too.
And if you want to see WHO will be footing THAT bill...you would have to travel no farther than to your nearest mirror.
This nation's people are still good people.
We are defined by WHO WE ARE, as well as WHAT WE DO (or do NOT do), and others around the globe don't necessarily look at the GOOD people, but rather watch those causing all the sh*t.
And people, we've way too many of THOSE people around this country for others to point fingers at.
The alarm's going off. And we have to decide whether or not to roll back over, hit the SNOOZE button, and sleep in, or wake the hell up, and hit the ground with both feet running.
The choice...OUR choice should be simple enough.
