Memorial Day Monday Musings...

I was thinking about exactly WHAT to say that would make today meaningful, and I began to worry about the longevity of it all.
Perhaps in THIS case, LESS is definitely MORE.

So with that in mind, allow me to say just a few (OK, perhaps a tad more than a few) words about what Memorial Day REALLY means.

Dedication
Honor
Integrity
Devotion
Sacrifice
Duty
Solemnity
Courage
Pride
Freedom
Remembrance
Selfless
Diligence
Fortitude
Persistence
Service
Compassion
Liberty
Selfless
Patriotic
Dignity

There you have it.
THAT is what TODAY is ALL ABOUT.
Let's remember that...and pass it along.
Be well, do good, and stay safe out there, America.

Short and sweet. Excellent! I felt like a jerk about three hours ago while I was doing my blog posting for the day...I was thinking hmm...It's Memorial Day and I truly don't even know what this "holiday" really stands for. I mean I knew it was in memory of soldiers but I didn't know all the details. It didn't *MEAN* much to me anymore... I feel like a complete idiot.

Anyways, what I'm getting at is, it's incredible what we forget over the years, or even what we stop caring about, or stop standing for. We see the direction this great country of ours is taking and we don't like some of the aspects of it, but what are WE doing about it? Some are protesting, some are fighting (like our wonderful soldiers in the middle-east) and some are doing NOTHING.

What gives those "nothing'ers" the right to complain when they aren't doing anything about it? Like something that happened earlier... I was talking to a friend, who was complaining about it being a holiday today, and that the stores were opening late and closing early. He called it an "inconvenience and wasteful to business." Then I asked him why he was so concerned about business today when today was a day to remember those who have died fighting for the freedom to have our own businesses (privately owned) in the first place! *AUGH*

I don't know which I hate more...stupid people, ignorant people, arrogant people, or UNGRATEFUL people. *grrrr*

Anywho, I hope you had a lovely weekend and the boomcars weren't too loud (because it seems everyone came this way for the holiday with their noisy subwoofers)!

Lord bless you, dear...you have stated things in such a manner that I got a lump in the old throat...

You're no jerk, and certainly NOT an idiot...remember that.
You're one of the ones that "get it".

As for the stupid, ignorant, arrogant, and ingratefuls of the world....we can "hate" 'em all TOGETHER.
Sound like a plan?

Thank you for the thoughts and comments.

Lost my dad in 1978...and I recall HIS war stories like it was YESTERDAY.

That, and I have a photo album he had when he was in the service (India-WW2).
Amazing stuff there.

And YOU got to MEET these people...fantastic.

THAT ALONE should be plenty to keep you carrying on.

YOU are their new spokesperson.
It's "your torch" now, right?
Bear it proudly.

Thanks for the comments and reflections.
That was touching.
