I, along with many of you, have been following the news (closely), especially since politics in general has been more than unkind to Americans and our way of life of late. So I title this post in a more sarcastic manner, and those regular readers will probably know why.But for everyone else, and the sake of venting off some much needed steam from the old blood pressure gauge, allow me to elucidate.
Fellow Komrade Citizens, You must know by now that we are the proud (?) owners of the largest car company on the planet. That's right. Every one of us is part-owner of GENERAL MOTORS (soon to be called GOVERNMENT MOTORS), and, I don't know about YOU, but I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed by it all.
Imagine...all of US given such a wonderful "responsibility", and with about $400,000 of OUR money (every taxpayer's relative amount of ownership) invested, I just don't know WHERE to begin.I mean I know about AS MUCH about running a car company, as Tim Geithner knows about running the IRS. (OR filing his taxes...LOL)
But lemme give it a try.
How's about this?
FREE parts and service to ALL owners of GM vehicles that are at least 20 years old, and happen to be PONTIACS with relative savings for newer vehicles.
That should keep MY car on the road for a spell, when everyone else is driving eco-friendly rollerskates, and dying horribly in highway crashes..Hey, since we're ALL owners now, we can certainly take time to be a bit "self-indulgent", right? I mean, it's not like we're asking for several BILLION dollars to bail US out, right?
I'm just tossing it out there....you, as a co-owner decide what YOU want to do. Let's have some FUN with it, while we can, OK?
Here we are...owning a LARGE car company, and in a GREAT MUSLIM COUNTRY, such as America...what did we do to deserve SUCH praise, anyway?

Well, our PRESIDENT said it, so it MUST be "true", right? Barry stated, during his "Great American Apology Tour", that AMERICA is a GREAT MUSLIM NATION. I heard it plain as day.
So my question is, do we ALL get paid "time off" to face Mecca and PRAY 5 times a day during work???

And where the hell is my AK-47 and tablecloth headgear, anyway?Not to mention the OTHER WIVES I'm "supposed" to be getting as a follower of Islam? And can *I* pick 'em?
Hmm...maybe we're NOT a GREAT Muslim nation after all...(thank God).
Maybe we're really a great CHRISTIAN NATION, founded by GOD-FEARING people, who created a nation called AMERICA.
And MAYBE our fearless leader's mouth is writing checks his brain can't cash.
In any event...he's in EGYPT today, probably apologizing for Moses "stealing the hired help", so perhaps by sundown (here), we'll ALL be descendants of some PHARAOH!
It's a bit better than Islam, I guess...just not by much.What I (and probably the rest of us) might want to know...is WHEN will our President START saying all the GOOD this nation HAS DONE...and CONTINUES TO DO, every single day around the world?
You know, when you talk DOWN about something LONG enough, it WILL become bad.
That's not to say that all the bad things I mention about my neighborhood are not true. I have PROOF to back me up.
What does our President have to back up the reason for his APOLOGIES?
Didn't we FREE Kuwait?
Didn't we FREE Iraq?
Don't we promote LIBERTY for the downtrodden all over the planet, and champion the cause for FREEDOM?
Damn RIGHT we did...and do.
So what's up with all this "we're sorry" BS anyway?I'm personally not sorry for any of that.
I'm proud that OUR COUNTRY was courageous enough to step the hell up and HELP people in other countries to defeat oppression.
But here we are in AMERICA...being "oppressed".
We're saddled with a governmental debt SO huge, our great-grand kids will be paying it off.
We're stuck with economic decisions that has nations in worse shape telling US to "stop doing what you're doing".
We're stuck with leadership that is taking us down the road to socialism (and fascism) SO fast, that HUGO CHAVEZ is telling CASTRO that Obama's MORE TO THE LEFT than THEY are!Somehow...this isn't QUITE the AMERICA I grew up in anymore.
Kinda feel like Dorothy when she landed in OZ.
Only THIS "Oz" is the antithesis of the old Emerald City version.
We're not IN Kansas, anymore, Toto.
Maybe we should be paying a tad MORE attention to "the man behind the curtain", eh?
I suppose what I find odd about ALL of this (and more), is that many people in this country THINK all this crap going on is the greatest thing since sliced white bread.You people have GOT to be f$cking kidding me, right?
Wake the hell UP.
...Or learn to speak Chinese.

In many ways, I'm glad my parents are not around to see this. They would be heart-broken to see this country going down the crapper in this way. Ditto for the grandparents. Those seniors alive today MUST be bothered by all of this, especially when THEY (and THEIR parents) weathered situations rivalling today's problems.
Thing is, we don't have the fortitude en masse as we did a half-century (or more) ago.
We have fewer PEOPLE...and a lot more SHEEPLE.
We're fragmented among ourselves, rather than being UNITED as a people.
Still, as I always say...this nation IS still a damn fine one.We just have to be willing to boldly ASK the tough questions of our leaders...and EXPECT truthful answers.
We need to watch, listen, and learn, lest we tumble into the chasm of socialism.
And if we wind up there, climbing out will be a helluva lot more difficult. Best not to get too close to the edge to begin with.

Another good one and as always you have given me much to think about. My dad would be so sad for our country.
I read his whole speech, and am sickened. He's taking the US down into a 3rd world country is what he's doing, and at a fast pace.
we've been 3rd world for years just noone wanted to see it for what it was. once you live in other countries you understand that. our public transportation sucks. health care stinks. the way women are treated when pregnate or after they give birth unreal. yea, hurry up and get out of the hospital and leave your baby to someone else and get back to work. germany takes better care of their citizens. crime is almost non existant. the police (or polizi) do their job and a little butt kicking never hurt anyone.
even the uae is a good place to live. now on that thought you would need a male family member to help you out some there.
we wont be speaking chinese. more like spanish becouse many muslim men i know of speak it well. also americans.
when i was in saudia. we wanted to speak to a muslim shop keeper. he couldnt speak american. he didnt speak german. he spoke spanish. over the years since then the muslim men i have met have spoken spanish as a language to bridge between their own and the rest of teh world. spanish is the new language and my MOTHER said this back in the early 80's. she was born in 23.

Heh. I'd rather live in the US being a 3rd world country than any muslim nation.. where women are treated as half the worth of men, treated almost as dogs, but not quite. And under shari'a law? no way. No thanks. I'd rather keep my civil laws, shabby though they may seem to you, and keep my freedoms, freedom to get out of that hospital as soon as i can to tend my kid, freedom to drive to the grocery store, freedom to go sit in a coffeeshop and talk to a male friend if I wish. AND freedom to worship the one true God, not allah that changes his mind, and not follow some crazed pedophile murderer.
