I had an about-face on what I was going to blog about today, because of a reply to yesterday's post, that I found quite entertaining.There are times when you HAVE to bow to the absurd. That's just LIFE-101.
Then there's times that you find yourself wondering WTF is going on with people today anyway?
Well, what appears to be happening, is that whenever someone (of one race...usually a white person) makes any comment about anyone else of any other race, they are invariably labelled a "racist".
Funny how this isn't all that much a TWO-WAY street...or is it?
Now I've said time and again (you'd have to check the archives almost 3 years back) here, that I have no problem with PEOPLE of ANY color, race, nationality, religion, or sexual preference.
(But I DO have an issue with IDIOTS...no matter what color, etc)
And now...I've said it yet AGAIN
(yeah, but it never gets THAT old, does it, Bob?)
But that does not mean I embrace ALL of them unconditionally...I'm not Jesus-Freaking-Christ for heaven's sake. I'm not THAT perfect...and neither is anyone else out there reading this.
I have difficulty seeing GOOD in people when there is not one shred of it to be found...ANYWHERE in their character.
I will not "manufacture" that "good" for the sake of "political-correctness" OR "diversity".
You take all people...one-at-a-time.
I see people who have NO meaning to their lives, doing whatever the hell they want, to anyone they choose, at any time of any given day (thumbing their noses at the law, as well as civil decency). Now does THAT sound anywhere close to being called "normal" to YOU?Apparently, though...we "whites" have to "look the other way" whenever people of any race OTHER than our own does something that we KNOW to be inherently WRONG for ALL races...like DRUG DEALING (just using that as an example).
I guess I'm "supposed" to just turn the other cheek, act as if nothing is happening, and that none of that poison is adversely affecting ANYONE of ANY color...because in MY particular "blighted" neighborhood, THAT type of behavior is to be accepted as part of "being poor".Yeah...rrrrriiiiiight.
I've heard a LOT better fairy tales in my day.

I've known people that had poverty as a REASON for the manner in which they lived.The people around HERE use poverty as an EXCUSE to justify bad behavior and illegal activities.
And they've done a damn good job of bullshitting much of the general populace in that regard.
Trouble is...these people need a good swift kick in their complacency. They NEED to start being accountable for THEIR OWN lives...and the lives of the children they've brought into the world, who will wind up perpetuating this whole multi-generational welfare mindset, because of the lack of VALUES their "parents" have created in their dysfunctional families, if you can call the rabble that lives in these hovels a "family" in the TRADITIONAL sense (which you cannot).
There are many single parents out there, scraping along, busting THEIR asses to make a living for themselves AND their kids, and it's just unfair as all hell to see lazy-ass people sucking tax dollars like a swimming pool filter FROM those working people.But THAT is what I see in MY neighborhood.
People who can't buy their child a damn TOY, but rather allow them to toss rocks at other peoples' properties, having the kids swing branches all over, when they COULD be enrolled in a sports activity at the local YMCA, or other youth program (for free, of course).
There are TOO MANY agencies WILLING to help, but NO ONE is utilizing them, but rather resorting to letting the kids "find their own way", while the parents suck down that next 40 oz, or toke that next blunt.If being pissed at THAT type of lifestyle makes me a "racist"...that's fine by me, however INACCURATE the nomenclature.
When I see a dozen people witness a shooting, but when questioned by the police, all of them suddenly develop a case of "short-term memory loss", it's time to think about something called PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY....to the COMMUNITY.Sorry, but these people just don't have it...and because I know this to be true, that makes me a "racist".....fine.
Hell, I dealt with being called a *n*-lover when I was in high school by those of MY OWN race...
That was THEIR problem...NOT mine.
Today, people have decided to label me (and others that view things similarly) a "racist" for my belief that ALL men are equal, but there are those that can''t wrap their brains around such concepts, because they're too busy scoring that next bag of "rock"...OK by me.
I would suggest such people go read some LARRY ELDER...or JOHN McWHORTER. The ethnic community brings on IT'S OWN problems, and is the BEST SOLUTION TO those problems.Poverty is all about being POOR...period.
It does NOT excuse bad behavior.
It does NOT give a pass to STUPIDITY.
It should NOT be a method to defraud the public.
Poverty means being grateful to have SOUP 5 times a week...not driving out to McD's to feed your cake hole ONLY 4 days this week.Poverty means the clothes on your ass MIGHT have come from a sibling and have been mended several times...NOT having a pair of $50 athletic shoes that are merely ONE year old, and now "out of style".
Poverty means you're probably walking, taking a bicycle, or public transportation to get around...NOT driving a 4 year old Acura WITHOUT those large 24 inch rims and $2000+ stereo system.Yet, EVERY ONE of these people see POVERTY as something to ASPIRE to (because of all the free shit), and NOT something to pull oneself OUT of.
But...if seeing all this for what it truly IS makes me a "racist"...that's okie-dokie.
Because I know the truth...and the truth will ALWAYS set you free.As for all those I mentioned above?
Well, they just traded ONE set of chains for another...
They are STILL bound by slavery.
Sad thing is, THEY don't even know it.
Now THAT is racism...and a damn shame.
But always remember...if YOU see this happening, and think it's wrong, and that ALL people DO have the opportunity to make MORE of themselves, but simply refuse to...

Well, Bobby, a whole post just for me? I may have touched a nerve! I believe it was, well, you who said "when you throw a rock into a pack of dogs, the one who yelps is the one that got hit." of course I'm paraphrasing, I don't have any of the completely random words in all caps that are your trademark. I digress, on to the point of this reply...
Anyone with eyes can see that you have proved my point that you are a racist. In your blog you claim to "have no problem with people of any color..." yet you then fill your post with Black people engaging in such dispicable illegal pursuits such as:
- talking to someone inside a car
- playing basketball
- having a party
- walking down the street
The horror of it all. You also have pictures of "pimped" out cars, like that proves some point. I work on the South side, Bobby. The things that you point out are cultural things, not racial. You don't see white kids with the baggy clothes? Gold chains? loitering? Loud stereos? The truth of the matter is there are just as many white people out there doing the same things, yet you focus on the Black people. That, my friend, is why i think you're a racist - not because you point out bad behavior by bad people.
making bad decisions isn't a black thing, Bob, it's a people thing. Poverty certainly does not give one the right to be stupid, but (and this is my only contention with you) bad behavior and stupidity are not exclusive to the "ethnic community.
by the way, it is pretty amusing to read an old, white racists theory on the problems of the "ethnic community" and how it should solve them. Good times!
In closing, let me assure you that there is absolutely no concept that you would have the ability to articulate that i couldn't wrap my brain around. So no, Bob, I'm not busy "scoring the next bag of 'rock,'" i'm jut able to see you for what you are.
You don't want to be considered a racist, direct your vitriol towards EVERYONE in your neighborhood that deals, loiters, yells, walks down the street, plays basketball, etc. Not just the ones with brown skin.

- They're NOT "talking", my friend...that car is a regular DEALER in the area.
- the kids only "played" basketball LONG ENOUGH to RIP the hoop away from the backstop - aka VANDALISM.
-That "party" was a week-long FUNERAL with plenty of out-of-staters who were smoking dope all week, and leaving a MESS in thier wake. Police were called by OTHERS (obviously other racist Hispanics and whites) for loud noise on several nights (along with a fight or two).

-Walking down the STREET...seems there are two perfectly good SIDEWALKS that could be used...another "cultural thing"?
I DO see white kids with saggys, AND driving cars that play LOUD MUSIC, so the "culture" is affecting everyone, and NOT to the positive.
You must really LIKE hearing swear words or the *N* word every sentence with some of this "rap"...I prefer not to, and especially from THREE blocks away.
You must think it OK to hear women being demeaned by the lyrics, or hearing boasting of a "thug" lifestyle.
THAT is the product of a culture in serious DENIAL with inferiority issues.

And Larry is BLACK (who knew?)and I find him an AMAZINGLY ACCURATE author.
I will point out BAD behavior by BAD people whenever it presents itself...but being part of a mere handful of "other raced" people in my area, that leaves me little choice when I select people to use as an "example".
I believe you to be a person of learning, you've "done your homework" in presenting your POV, and the fact that we agree that BAD people come in EVERY shape, color and size proves as much.
But surely, you MUST see the effects of such choices within your race.
I see likewise in mine, and I find it detestable, AND I will take THEM to task FASTER than I would people of other races.
It's like I said to our Quad Captain when it comes to the FWPD & communty relations.
It's NEVER about color, per se...because you could have 100% of the officers here BLACK, and the BLACK community would STILL find reason to find the LEOs contemptable...It's not about black OR white in that case, but about BLUE.
Sorry you feel the way you do. If you met me, or LIVED here (where decent black folks don't even wish to reside), you might become as "jaded" as I have over the YEARS..and then we'd have even MORE in common.
But to infer racism where none exists is folly (unless we call STUPID people a "race").

it is your blog and lest i hijack it any further I should make my leave and let you continue to proselytize to the REAL readers. As is my nature, however, a few parting comments:
I know who Larry Elder is, and I know what his race is. I also know that he's as crazy, jingoistic and narrow minded as Allan Keyes, Rush Limburgerler and the rest of your old conservative cohorts. Being from Los Angeles, I also know that he's not just an author, he's a radio host.
I think the situation in which we find ourselves is a bit unfortunate, sadly. My honest assessment is that people who don't look like you intimidate and scare you and you lash out under the guise of being a "good citizen." I don't know you, Bob, i could be wrong. What I do know, unequivocally, is that the bulk of your written disgust, the bulk of your anecdotes, the bulk of your snide, not-so-subtle linguistic jibes are written with minorities in mind. You are one of those people who think that you're not racist, but honestly feel like "the majority" of minorities are criminals.
As far as rap music, I like some, I don't like most. criticism of the misogynistic nature of Rap music, however, from an admitted classic rock lover smacks of hypocrisy. Does Rap music have the market cornered on demeaning lyrics? How about these lyrics from the Rolling Stones:

Pretty respectful stuff there, eh Bob? I especially like the part in the next stanza where our eloquent narrator compares a women to a siamese cat, and refers to her as his pet. Need I reference The Lemon Song by Zeppelin? Not that rock music has grown up and seen the light, a couple of lyrics from recent song, if I may:

My point, as always, is that it's narrow-minded, short-sighted and very bigoted to believe that one race (or genre of music) holds the patent on being offensive. I live up north, somewhat close to the cesspit called Pierre's and I assure you that I hear my fair share of "Enter Sandman" and "Crazy Bitch" emanating from the windows of cars in my area.
And as long as we're helping you climb down off of your high horse, let us take a quick peek at your bible for some good ol' fashioned demeaning of women:
In 1 Timothy 2:11-15 we are told that women are not permitted to have authority over men and that they must be silent because Adam was formed first then Eve. The words whore and harlot are used frequently in the bible to describe women who deviated from the double standards sexual moral code. Women's bodies were not their own but the property of fathers and husbands. Virginity and chastity were mandatory for women and any woman breaking the double standard moral code was put to death. Under Mosaic Law men were permitted many wives while women were permitted only one and were subject to a test for unfaithfulness - Numbers 5:11-31. Men could divorce their wives on a whim - Deuteronomy 24:1-4. Women's main role was to bear male children and infertile women were scorned. In the bible it was always the women who were sterile, never the men.
I could go on, of course, but this is my rant about your views on race, not your views on religion. Which, as you can probably tell, I'd be more than happy to debate with you!

Also, we're no longer under the OLD testament "laws", but the dispensation of GRACE from the NEW testament...you know, that whole "Jesus-sins forgiven" thing.
